I was tagged by the lovely Ryane Zamora Beauty to do this. Little did she know that I secretly was going to do this tag even if no one tagged me (but now I look like I have friends, and I’m cool. Yeah.)  I’ve seen this tag called “Get to Know Me Tag” but Ryane called it the “Beauty Blogger Tag”, but I didn’t want to confuse it with the “Confessions of a Beauty Blogger Tag“, so uh I’m just going to mesh the two titles.

1. Is your hair naturally curly or straight?
My hair is naturally a bit wavy, but I get body waves done (a very loose wavy perm – ugh, I hate the word perm, but that’s the process).

2. Do you dye it yourself or go to a salon?
I don’t dye my hair.

3. Do you wear the same style everyday, or do you change it?
Not sure if this question is pertaining to my hair style, or my overall clothing style? Hair style is pretty much always the same: down, worn in loose waves. Clothing style-wise, from Monday to Thursday I’m in work wear which means career wear or suits if I have meetings. Fridays we have jeans day and I normally pop on a blazer so I’m not completely dressed down. On weekends I’m all about jeans and casual tops, usually with a hoody.

4. Do you do your own mani/pedi or go to a salon?
99% of the time I do my own, but if I want to have a treat, I’ll get a pedi done professionally. I also like to get UV gel polish at the salon if I’m going on vacation.

5. How often do you change your nail polish?
Once a week. My Sunday evening routine is doing my nails in preparation for the work week.

6. Do you polish your toes in the winter or just the summer?
I like to have painted toes all year round!

7. How long does it take for you to put on makeup?
About 40 minutes for a work / polished look – I like taking my time doing my makeup, it’s relaxing for me.  Also, I do my makeup while watching morning tv and reading blogs or reddit.  But if pushed, I can do it in 10 minutes on the weekends.

8. What do you do first? Face or eyes? 
Eyes first, always. I used to do face first because that’s how it is shown in makeup books or online tutorials, but I made the switch a while ago, once I realized how easy it is to clean up fall-out if I do my eyes first.  I also spend the most time doing eye makeup so I like to finish it off first.

9. Do you collect makeup or just buy what you need when you need it? 
I guess you could say I “collect” makeup. Hoard could be another way of putting it. With my current collection, aside from skincare or makeup that expire (foundation, sunscreen, lipsticks), I likely have enough makeup to last the rest of my life.

10. How often do you wear false eyelashes?
I’ve only worn them a few times and I couldn’t get used to them – it’s the same feeling as when I first started wearing a bra… I could just constantly feel them.

11. Do you do a full face of makeup everyday?
Nearly every day, but I wouldn’t say a full face – that makes it sound like I slather it on. I like a softer, more natural look for every day, but it does include eye makeup, base makeup and blush.

12. Do you wear makeup when you’re home alone or with family?
No, if I’m just at home, I don’t bother with makeup, I just apply skincare.

13. Will you leave the house without makeup? 
Yes, I would. I don’t do it often because I just never know who I’ll run into (I have run into coworkers on the weekend before).

14. How many high-end products do you have?
A bunch, but I’m not into super high-end makeup, especially not luxury brands that are primarily an extension of fashion lines, such as Chanel, Dior, Givenchy, Tom Ford, etc. I just think their forté is clothing, not cosmetics. But, that’s not to say I never purchase fashion brand cosmetics, I do own Anna Sui, Burberry, and Marc Jacobs cosmetics and they’re great quality.

15. Do you plan your OOTD every night or decide when you’re getting dressed?
I decide what I’m going to wear about 10 minutes before I run out the door! I really should plan my outfits in advance especially if they need to be ironed, but I just never feel like planning in the evenings.

16. How often do you change your handbag?
Not often. I’ve been carrying the same handbag (Roots Mademoiselle Box) for at least a year straight now. It’s a very versatile bag that’s season-less.

17. What time do you wake up and go to sleep?
Work nights I go to bed by 11pm and I get up at 6:30 in the morning. Weekend evenings vary but I don’t usually last past midnight. And I don’t like sleeping in so on weekends so I’m usually up no later than 8am.

18. How often or when do you workout?
Ugh, lately, it’s been never. I need to get my butt back in gear. I don’t even hate working out, it’s just the inertia of changing from my current sedentary state to an active state.

19. Left handed or right handed? 
Primarily right handed but I do have some ambidextrous tendencies, such as using my mouse, brushing my teeth, washing my face with my left hand – I attribute this to knitting and piano playing.

20. How tall are you?
I am 5’3″.

21. Do you speak any foreign languages?
No anymore. I can understand a few phrases in Cantonese (mostly food related). And I have rudimentary French, because in Canada, it’s mandatory that we learn it in school.  I’m better at reading French than speaking it.

22. How many pets do you have?
Sadly, none. I’d love to have a dog one day though!  I grew up with a dog (a German Shorthaired Pointer) and I enjoyed the companionship a lot.  Right now my lifestyle isn’t conducive to having a dog.

23. How often are you on WordPress?
All the time ever since I downloaded the WordPress app! I don’t write my posts from the app, but it is very handy for reading and commenting.

24. Do you read comments posted on blogs?
I love reading comments posted on other blogs, it’s kind of my guilty pleasure because sometimes the funniest conversations take place in the comments. This is true of online news sites too. I guess it’s because I’m a reddit addict – essentially the whole reddit site is a comment section.

25. Do you keep a list of products to try as you see other posts?
Yup, I have a wishlist as part of my makeup spreadsheet. I also started a pinterest page to put all my lemmings on there too.

26. How did you come up with your blog name?
I liked the word “stash”, as it describes my makeup collection and is a fun word. It’s a bit ambiguous since it’s also the slang for moustache. I had been trying to think of ways to incorporate it into a blog name.  Initially I liked something that would rhyme but all iterations had already been used (“Stash Panache” is quite popular). Then “stash matters” popped into my head one morning when I woke up, it was like I had dreamed up that combination of words. It works because it encompasses what I’m trying to blog about – all matters relating to my stash. As well, it has the double meaning that my stash, it matters, ie. shop my stash rather than buying new products. So that’s how my blog name came to be.

27. What kind of camera do you use for your photographs? 
Canon PowerShot SD1400 IS, sometimes supplemented by my iphone 5s. You can check out how I photograph products here.

28. How often do you clean your house?
Not often enough! Probably every other week.

29. What’s your favourite colour?
Purple!

30. Do you swear?
All the #$&@! time! I remember in grade 8, we had to post our New Years resolutions on the board in school and mine was “Not to swear as much”. 😛

31. What are you doing with the rest of your day?
Nothing out of the ordinary.  After work, I am usually home by 5:30, the bf cooks, we have dinner together, then I clean up.  I usually mess around on the computer for the evening (reddit, blog, YouTube), maybe do a load of laundry. That’s about it.
