Guerlain Terra Azzurra Collection by Emilio Pucci

Don’t get too excited, this isn’t a new Guerlain Terra Azzurra Collection by Emilio Pucci. This is from the Summer 2012 collection. I’m only 3 years too late on this. But I guess better later than never!  I bought the Terra Azzurra Bronzing Powder & Blush, and the Meteorites Perles d’Azur last December as a last hurrah before my yearlong No-Buy. These items, especially the Meteorites, have been on my wish list for, well, almost 3 years.

The Terra Azzurra Collection features the distinctive Pucci print, in tones of blues and greens, here’s a promotional image:

As with most luxury brands, a large part of the allure is the product packaging. Many details including the matching print inside of the boxes and the satin pouch for the bronzer all enhance the experience of opening and using these items.  Here is a pictorial journey of the bronzer / blusher compact unveiling:

The Terra Azzurra Bronzing Powder & Blush compact ($75 USD) is housed in a blackened wood casing, with a mirror in the lid. The compact secures by tiny magnets embedded along the edges.  It’s strikingly sleek and unique in my collection.  In addition to the compact case, the item I coveted was the little printed satin pouch it resides in.  I love it!  I’m not even sure what I’ll use it for but it’s sitting in my closet waiting to be re-purposed.

L to R: Bronzer, blush, blush, highlighter sections

The products themselves are good, but not amazing.  The bronzer performs better than the blusher in my experience.  They all apply smoothly and give a natural appearance, but the texture is on the dry side and not very pigmented.  I had to use a slightly rougher natural hair bristle brush to pick up the product.  The design of the blusher / highlighter strips made it difficult to isolate each colour to use, so I just swirled them together to achieve a peachy pink shade with a slight sheen.  There’s a scent to this product that I can’t place – it’s a bit tropical smelling, but it’s faint and I’m not bothered by it.  This bronzer / blush compact will likely sit in my collection mostly to be admired.  I don’t often buy makeup items purely to collect, but this item might just be such a novelty.

Next, the Meteorites Perles d’Azur ($58 USD).  It contains BLUE BALLS.  Yes, I had to say it.  I’m know I’m not the only one. 😉

Meteorites are notoriously hard to describe or photograph its effects on the skin – it’s part highlight, part colour corrector, part finishing powder.  It lends a luminous finish to the skin without adding too much obvious product.

Unfortunately, for my taste, Perles d’Azur is just slightly too sparkly.  When applied all over, I can see visible glitter particles, which is NOT the sophisticated polished look that I’m striving for.  When all the colours are blended, it doesn’t leave much colour on the skin – I mainly concentrate this on the cheeks as a highlight.  The scent of this product is the typical Meteorites violet, which I like a lot. This product could be a case where the anticipation and built-up excitement probably made my expectations higher than what they should have been.  Out of the 3 Meteorites I now own, this one is my least favourite.  But that Pucci tin design almost makes up for it.

Do you own any of these products or any items from Guerlain?  What are your favourites?

  1. That Pucci packaging is luscious. What a way to kick off a no-buy 🙂

I am kind of interested in the Meteorites, but I am not keen on the cardboard packaging (REALLY? at that price point? But your Pucci lid totally makes up for it) so I got an Hourglass powder instead.

As for Guerlain products, I got my first Rouge G and…well, I am gonna review it this week.

    1. Guerlain changed from the cardboard packaging to metal tins a few years back! All of my Meteorites are in the metal tin – that’s when I could finally justify shelling out the money for them once the packaging was more durable (I can get cardboard packaging from Benefit, no thanks!)
Which Hourglass powder did you buy? I have Dim Light on my wish list.
Looking forward to reading your review on the Rouge G *crosses fingers that you like it*

      1. Are they in metal tins now?! For some reason I thought they were cardboard. And smaller! LOL. Dammit. I have to check now. *runs off to SDM*

I got Hourglass Diffused, but admittedly I haven’t used it yet, as I have been liking the NARS Light Reflecting Loose Powder!

        1. Ooh I have the Nars powder in my stash too. Ooops I forgot about that. Well, I was planning to bust that out once I finished my MAC Mineralize Skinfinish Natural.
Well, technically, the transition from the cardboard to tin didn’t change the weight, however, the “revamped” 2014 Meteorites both changed the formula (more powdery now) and weight (5g less) 😦 I’ve not ventured into the post-2014 Meteorites and I think I’m going to stop buying them now, since I’m happy with what I have.

    1. The smell is intoxicating! Apparently there was a Guerlain Meteorites perfume once upon a time! So bummed I missed out. My favourite Meteorites is from the regular line in Teint Beige #2
