The Beauty Blogger Award

I haven’t done a tag / award in ages!  I’m so backlogged but I’m going to do one of the more recent ones I’ve been nominated for by StyledWithJoy, the Beauty Blogger Award.  Thanks girl, told you I’d do it soon. 😉

The Beauty Blogger Award Rules:
1) State the name of the blogger that nominated you.
2) Answer the questions you were given.
3) Nominate 10 people whose blog is about beauty or fashion.
4) Make 10 questions for your nominees to answer.
5) Let the bloggers know that you nominated them.

Styled with Joy’s Questions:

1. Quick! You have 5 minutes to get ready. Describe the makeup look you’d do.
With 5 minutes, I can do concealer, quick coat of mascara (no curling!) and pencil in my brows. That’s it.

2. Would you rather wear skinny jeans or short shorts for the rest of your life?
Skinny jeans!

3. All time favorite mascara?
I’ll name one that’s not discontinued: CoverGirl LashBlast Volume

4. What do you think of the new trend, strobing?
At first I was like, oh ok, it’s just like highlighting, but maybe a bit more intense?
strobing
Then after the 100th time I read about it, there’s NOTHING different between strobing and highlighting, it’s just a gimmick.  So STROBING YOU CAN GO SUCK A POUND OF BUTTER! I’m not sure who the “mastermind” was behind this trend, but he / she needs a kick to the throat. And that’s what I think about the new trend, strobing. 🙂

5. Eye Primer or MAC Paint Pot?
Both! I have to use both an eye primer and MAC Paint Pot to keen my eye shadows from creasing / fading.  Right now I’m using Prestige Primed & Ready (very good) and one of my favourite MAC Paint Pots is Groundwork.

6. Fringe or kimonos?
Ugh. Neither. Just no to both. I don’t want to look like a cowgirl or like I’m wearing a housecoat outside.  How about this – a fringed kimono:

Kill me know.

7. Floppy hat or beanie?
Beanie.  Floppy hat is so try-hard.  What about a fringed kimono + floppy hat:
fringekimono4
My life is complete.

8. Holy grail perfume?
I guess my “signature” scent is Chloe, the original one. I get more compliments when I wear that than anything else.

9. Must have Orange lipstick?
“Must have” and “Orange lipstick” aren’t words that go together in my world. Joy, I know you’re just looking for ideas for your total domination of the colour orange. So I’ll just name an orange lip item I own: Revlon Lip Butter in Tutti Frutti.

10. Holy grail lip balm?
Dr. Hauschka Lip Care Stick

My Nominees:
Puddles of Avni
chicandpolished
The Life of Kristyn
Infinitely Awkward Beauty
R Cubed
A Beautiful Whim
Glam Necessities
chubbychicsdiary
Valentina Sofia
The Pretty Pomegranate

My Questions:
1. How do you do your eyebrows?
2. Name a lipstick that you can apply without a mirror.
3. When you wear makeup, do you typically play up your eyes or your lips?
4. Are you a fan of the hair style where one side is shaved?
5. What’s your favourite liquid eye liner?
6. When was the last time you washed your makeup brushes?
7. Your best tip for keeping your makeup from melting off in the summer heat?
8. Preferred nail shape: square, pointed, rounded or squoval?
9. Lipgloss or lipstick?
10. What was the last makeup related present you received?

  1. LOL at your strobing rant (ITA), and at 6 & 7. I cannot believe you found a pic of someone wearing a fringed kimono and a floppy hat. And her pose. I am in tears.

Love that Beauty Blogger logo, too. Did you make it?!

  2. Lmao at the pics of highlighting vs. strobing. Fringed kimono – your friends will know what to get you for your next bday! And you caught me. I need more orange in my life bc of your compliments 😄

  3. loling so much at your strobing opinion – honestly I just don’t get the big deal about it. I guess it’s just a fancy new way of saying highlighting?! LOVE Chloe – I only smelt it recently but wow it’s a stunner for the senses!! Brill post huni 😀 Still giggling at the strobing remark lol Karen XX

  4. Congratulations! I agree with you on the highlighting and the strobing! BOTH the same thing! I really love the scent of the Chloe De Roses or it’s something like that lol. I smelled it in a magazine before and fell in love with the scent but I don’t have it. :/ I’ve thought about trying those kimonos but I then I would have to plan something else to wear under it and it’s already bad enough that just about every top you buy these days you have to wear a cami underneath. There’s my rant! Lol! 🙂

    1. Thanks! Haha, that’s true what you said about the needing camis under everything – I pretty much own a bunch of nude and black camis just to wear underneath tops that I think are too sheer. I bet lots of people wear them without camis but I feel weird without one! I even wear a cami underneath button up blouses because I hate it when you sit and the button gaps a bit, I don’t want people to see my bare skin! 😛

      1. Yes! I have so many camis in so many different colors! It’s crazy! Whenever I buy a new top I have to think oh what cami do I have that will go under that? Grrr!! Lol!!!

  5. Hahaha..I would love to know who started this strobing trend! They must have thought “Ah I’ve discovered something new” lol
No…I’m not a fan of the kimono thing either..it’s quite pointless..much like the floppy hats.

But I do have a polka dot mint kimono that I bought from the thrift store. I’ll be posting pictures for you once I wear it. 😀
