Milani Luminous vs Luminoso

To conclude “Comparison Week”, I have a quick post to compare 2 Milani blushes side by side: Milani Powder Blush in #08 Luminous and Milani Baked Blush in #5 Luminoso.

Are Milani Luminous and Luminoso blushes the same colour? The question comes up online from time to time since they do look similar in the pan and have very similar names.  I’m here to tell you that they’re quite different. Back in the late-2000’s, Milani blushes were making quite a name for themselves as they were inexpensive, great quality, and offered in colours that duped many of the popular higher end brands.

Milani Luminous was such a shade, meant to be a dupe for Nars Orgasm – it’s a pretty good dupe – a universally flattering peachy pink colour with a golden shimmer. I also really like the packaging of these blushes, they are slim and compact (no useless bottom compartment with a crappy brush like the Baked blushes are now).  Luminous is discontinued but If you’re really keen on it, I’ve seen ebay listings for it at very reasonable prices.

Luminous contained 2.75g of product and was made in USA whereas Luminoso has 3.5g and is made in Italy.  I recalled Luminous only costing around $3 – the Baked Blushes are around $9.

Milani now carry only the Baked Blushes and the Rose Powder Blushes.  And the shade “Luminoso” has caused some confusion as some people assumed it was the same colour as the previous blush shade called Luminous.  Milani Baked Blush in Luminoso is a satiny coral shade. When swatched side by side, the difference between Luminous and Luminoso are apparent:

I love Luminoso and only like Luminous – Luminous is just a bit too frosty for my liking, but Luminoso is the perfect sheen and glow that make it a staple in my blush rotation.

There you have it.  Not the same.  Get the Luminoso.
This concludes my week of comparing stuff! Hope you enjoyed! 😀

    1. See, I don’t like Nars Orgasm so that should have been a disclaimer! I had TWO of them in my stash at one point – one in a Laguna bronzer / Orgasm duo and then a single blush that I got in a kit. I gave them both away! My friends love them so my loss, their gain. 😛

  1. Oh nice comparison! I don’t think I ever had Luminous (have Orgasm, they look super close!). I agree, Luminoso is nicer, esp since it is less frosty. Milani has done some amazing blushes and eyeshadows over the years 🙂 Loved this week’s theme!

    1. I did have Nars Orgasm (2 of them ugh) but gave them away to people who liked it better than me. Too bad I didn’t keep at least one to swatch side by side for comparison, oh well. But yes, they’re super similar.
I might do more comparisons, it’s kind of fun to discover similarities / differences among my stash.

      1. The comparisons are great! Most of the time you just don’t realize it unless you are looking for them. I wouldn’t doubt I have loads of dupes in my e/s, lipstick and nail polish stashes.

      1. No I haven’t but I’ll be getting my check soon and I’m going on a Milani shopping spree lol I love their lipstick and eye shine palette. I haven’t gotten a chance to check out any of the blushes yet. So I’ve been looking for reviews on the palette and I’m loving the luminos so far.

  2. I really enjoyed this post! ❤ I love Luminoso! It's one of my favorite blushes! I agree with you on the bottom compartment with the crappy blush brush lol. 🙂 xo
