Sephora VIB sale for friends

I guess I’m that friend with benefits. 😉  This is the 2nd time I’ve offered up my Sephora VIB 20% off discount for my non-VIB friends!  The last time was back in April, and I was able to re-qualify for VIB status solely on my friends’ purchases. 😛

This time surprisingly, the list was not as long!  Here’s what I bought on behalf of my friends:

Friend #1: Maison Martin Margiela “Replica” Jazz Club perfume $120
sephoraVIBNov62015
I’ve tried this perfume on before and it is a unique smoky fragrance with tobacco, leather and rum and notes.

Friend #2: Clinique Stay Matte Pressed Powder $31
sephoraVIBNov42015
Friend #3: Clinique Almost Lipstick in Pink Honey $19, and Benefit Rockateur Box o’ Powder Blush $36
sephoraVIBNov72015
(SO tempted to pull a “one for you, one for me” on the blush since it’s also on my wish list!)

Friend #4: Peter Thomas Roth Firmx Peeling Gel $60
sephoraVIBNov82015
I bought the above items in-store rather than online since I will be seeing these friends within the next week or so, and I didn’t want to risk not receiving the items in time before seeing them. So I braved the Sephora at one of the busiest malls here during lunch hour on Day 1 of the VIB sale. A zoo doesn’t even begin to describe the choas in that store. There was a girl behind me who asked why it was so busy there – she’d just come to collect her BI birthday gift. Poor thing, lol. A chick in front of me had 4 shopping baskets full of stuff and her total came to $1,200! 😮 To thank customers for waiting, they handed out samples of Clinique Take The Day Off Cleansing Balm while we were in line, which was nice.  I also got to play around with the Surratt Beauty eye shadows and they’re heavenly – very smooth and the colours were so sophisticated.  I’ve narrowed down my first Surratt purchases to: Relevée Lash Curler, eye shadows in Marron and Fee Dragee or Tyrian, and the La Vie En Rose blush. I’m going to get the small custom palette which can fit 1 blush and 2 eye shadows (or 2 blushes, or 4 eye shadows). Can’t wait!

Friend #5: BITE Beauty Maple Matte Crème Lipstick in Candied Maple $28 and Kat Von D Tattoo Liner in Trooper $23
sephoraVIBNov52015
I placed this order online since the Bite Beauty lipstick wasn’t available in-store any longer (and just qualified for free shipping – so glad Sephora reduced the minimum purchase for free shipping from $75 to $50).  I was also able to choose 3 free samples:

AND, luck of lucks, Sephora still had the 500 pt Urban Decay perk so I got that for myself!

I saw some swatches of it online and it looks decent.  So I did end up with samples and a perk for myself. Yay! 🙂  I still have 1300 pts that I’m hoarding until something else catches my eyes.

So how was Sephora VIB sale for you this time?

PS. I’ve changed my colour scheme for Christmas now, since we had the Santa Claus parade here yesterday, it’s officially Christmas time! (all the stores are playing Christmas music now too, that’s also how I know)

  1. Very Christmas-y!
I didn’t get all that much due to being on a low buy, but I ordered something for my upcoming first giveaway (not telling what it is until I’m ready to officially announce the giveaway), Nars Sheer Gow foundation, and I cashed in my points for the UD set, just like you.

    1. Oooh looking forward to seeing what you’ll be giving away! 🙂 I can’t wait to try out the UD palette – even though it’s tiny, I don’t mind, the colours look really nice. Free makeup is free makeup, lol.

  2. Peanut slept through the whole Santa Claus parade! 😦 He did “see” it last year, but was too young to appreciate any of it.

And man, Christmas already? It’s not even December yet. SIGH.

It’s pretty awesome that you achieve VIB status just shopping for other people 😀 Yay for the freebies you got, too!

    1. Aww he didn’t even wake up with all that noise? I live on the parade route so uh drumming and music and general noise for 2 hrs has been my life for the past 5 years every time it’s the Santa Claus parade. I can watch the whole thing out my window. I should rent out space lol.
Yeah I wasn’t mentally ready for all the Christmas-y stuff yet but I resist every year until I give in… I need to start Christmas shopping too! UGH.

      1. I just can’t deal with Christmas until it’s closer to December 🙂 We’re on the route, too, so I’m surprised all the racket and drumming didn’t wake him! But he snoozed through the entire thing and woke up about 15 min after it ended. Poor baby.

  3. First off, I’m loving the Christmas vibes on here 🙂
Secondly, you are such a nice friend! I’m still living the Beauty Insider life and unfortunately don’t know anyone who’s a VIB. That Bite Beauty Maple lipstick looks really beautiful. If I had the chance to partake in the sale, I would probably get some skincare from Sunday Riley since there’s a huge buzz around that line and I’ve heard lots of good things about them!

    1. Sunday Riley is SO pricey. I’m not sure if I understand what all the fuss is about… maybe I should ask for a sample to see if it’s really that great? (but worried I’ll fall in love with a $200 cream lol)

  4. Poor you who had to made an online order and even go in-store … This no-buy must be starting to be a pain in the ass 😦 Anyway you are the best friend ever !!! At least you got points that come with it 😉

    1. It’s ok, I’ve been avoiding Sephora during my No-Buy so as to not TEMPT myself. It was fun in a way to be looking at fancy makeup, with fresh eyes. And I did enjoy searching for my friends’ items, like a treasure hunt – and they’re all paying me back so it’s just spending other people’s money! 😛

    1. Thank you! I’m excited to try the UD palette. I have a few UD single eye shadows and they’re quite nice (no, I don’t own any of the Naked palettes – too shimmery for my liking!)

      1. I have quite a few single shadows from them as well. I usually take advantage when they phase a color out and get them on clearance because as much as I love them, they’re just too pricey for me.

  5. How nice of you to make these purchases on behalf of your friends! Also, $1200?!?! Crazy – what status does she qualify for? Haha. I don’t know how I missed that UD kit…I’m just going to pretend I didn’t see that. I need to stay out of Sephora for a while.

    1. I saw that the SA gave her a Rouge card so I guess she was “only” VIB before and now she’s Rouge.
Actually stepping inside Sephora wasn’t as bad for me in terms of being tempted – I’ve become much more critical now I feel… some items are downright RIP OFFS! That Hourglass Ambient Edit palette is $95 CAD! For 8.4gr of product? Are you kidding me…

  6. You’re totally a point pimp… look at you with your free makeup! I’m so doing that next year! Although you deserve it for being brave enough to literally step foot into the store during such a sale.
