Blogmas Day 1: Red & Green

Today I’m excited to announce the launch of my first ever BLOGMAS!  Ingrid of Curly.Spring.Blossom came up with this idea and asked if I’d be interested! So, Ingrid, Kaily of Hello Kaily, Sharon of Sharon Beauty Prime and myself (we’re calling ourselves the Babes in Blogland) will be posting 25 consecutive days for the holiday season.  Our Blogmas will be primarily focused beauty topics with a Christmas spin.  Every Tuesday, Thursday and Friday all 4 of us will be posting about the same topic, so be sure to check out each of our take on the topic du jour! 😀

Our topic today is RED & GREEN stuff (or Red & Green sh!t as the classy Kaily called it). I’m interpreting this topic as a showcase of red and green makeup items from my stash.

It would have been a bit of a cop-out to just feature nail polishes so I did make an effort to include actual makeup stuff. 😛

Eyes – if you know me, you’d know that I’m a neutral kind of person when it comes to eye shadows, so it’s no surprise that I don’t have a LOT of crazy coloured eye shadows.
Blogmas_day1_red_green6
• NYX Single Eyeshadow Lime Green ES31 (the pan broke so it’s in loose form)
• Sephora + Pantone Universe Elemental Color Grid Shadow Block in Emerald Shimmer, Pantone 17-5641
• Vasanti Silky Eye Shadow Duo in Mount Olympus (green shade)
• Lancome Color Design Eye Brightening All-In-One Five Shadow & Liner Palette in Emerald Boudoir 501 (crease shade in the middle)
• Sephora Jumbo Liner 12HR wear Kaki 05 (yes the word “khaki” is spelled without the “h” on this product for some reason)

Lips – no green lipsticks unfortunately so here are a few reds that I think look festive:

• Elizabeth Arden Color Intrigue Effects Lipstick Poppy Cream
• Clarins Rouge Prodige Fusion Red
• Maybelline Super Stay 14 Hr Ravishing Rouge 065
• Clinique Chubby Stick Intense Mightiest Maraschino
• Revlon ColorBurst Lipgloss Fire (I literally just removed the seal on this – never even worn!)

Nails – I own quite a number of reds but not many greens. I’ve selected the ones that I think look the most Christmas-y:

• Butter London Knees Up
• Avon Nailwear Pro Ruby Slipper
• Illamasqua Untold
• Color Club Berry and Bright
• Color Club Ho-Ho-Holly (these 2 CCs were from a Christmas set!)
• Color Blast by Orly Brilliant Sky

And this is the beautiful festive look you can achieve rocking green eye makeup and red lips 😆

  1. LMAO @ your look at the end! ❤

I am gonna have Christmas overload reading your blog this month, aren't I?

Love all the red and green makeup. Lots of work to swatch all of that!

PS did you happen to get that red Maybelline SuperStay lipstick for free? ;D I think I have the same one.

    1. YES I got that for free – one of my old co-workers said they were handing out for free on the streets. Free makeup! On the streets! I’ve tried it once and wiped it off lol.
My SO saw me working on that illustration and he was like… um is that supposed to be serious? LOL.

  2. I went all non beauty related stuff since I don’t own Red or Green makeup items !!! You have quite a good collection and surprisingly I find your green eyeshadows so beautiful (I almost want to wear green 😉)!!!

    1. I love how we all interpreted the Red & Green theme differently. I think it’s best if we don’t share ideas in advance of the topics – it’s like a fun surprise for ALL of us! 😀
I’m surprised at the number of green eye shadows but most of them were “forced” upon me since they were contained in quads – I usually buy them for the neutrals and I begrudgingly accept the odd green colour here and there. But they come in handy for these kinds of posts! 😉 You totally should wear green eye shadow!

      1. In fact I should wear anything other than Nude, Beige, Cream, Taupe, Brown, White, Eggshell 😀 It’s safe to say that the probabilities of me wearing green eyeshadow is very tiny 😉

  3. This is awesome and I do like surprises. I was thinking of Christmas tree, red ornaments and stocking stuffers but ended up with nail polish instead. Love, love your illustration of red lips with green shadows. I love green except neon green!!!

    1. Well we have 25 days to cover all the other Christmas-y things so I thought I’d focus on some red & green makeup items! 😀 I love doing this collab – can’t wait to see the rest of the entries from everyone!

  4. No green lipstick!!?? What’s wrong with you!? 😉 You have a lot of green makeup, actually. I didn’t realize how little I had until I tried to look for something. So now I’m on a mission to find some green shadows. I loved taking a peak into your stash!!!

    1. I was surprised how many green items I had actually! Yes you need some green eye shadows at least! Don’t you have the Wet n Wild Comfort Zone palette? There’s greens in there. I’m thinking of rocking green pedi next week haha.

  5. This is really fun! And I love the moniker Babes in Blogland 🙂
That K(h)aki liner is really lovely! I’ve been so drawn to dark green eyeshadows lately but I’m still having a difficult time pulling them off as anything other than a liner.
I have that same Revlon lipgloss that I also have not worn. I’m a little worried that it will end up all over my face to be honest.
I also love the shade of that Clinique Cherry lip pencil.
I kind of want to wear your festive makeup look but I’m also a huge chicken 🙂
This is a really fun post!

    1. I got that Clinique lip pencil in a gwp! It is really pretty.
I know what you mean about the Revlon gloss, it is quite wet and for such a bright shade I suspect it will smear around. I might just put it on the center of my lips to a bit of a shine.
You should totally get that Sephora k(h)aki eye shadow pencil – it’s fantastic quality and not too expensive. I got a whole set a few years back and they were well worth it.
