Let’s face it, after spending all your Christmas budget on presents, the last thing you want to think about is getting a bunch of little things to put into stockings. But, opening up stockings is one of the best part of Christmas morning! Here are some last minute ideas for small ticket ($10 or less) items to include in stockings:
Beauty items
Lip balm: EOS ($4) are fun ones to include in a stocking. May I also suggest my favourite night time lip balms, the C.O. Bigelow Supreme 2X Lip Shine ($8) – this stuff is awesome.
Hair elastics: I have a slight obsession with finding the best hair elastics for my very slippery, yet thick hair. I’ve found 2 types to work: nylon elastics (they look like rolled nylon stockings – I found mine at Ardene $5 for 10 pcs), and Invisibobble (they look like old-school coiled telephone cord – $10 for 3).
Sheet masks: so many stores carry sheet masks now: Face Shop, Shoppers Drug Mart, Rexall, Winners (TJ Maxx), Marshalls – I’ve even seen them at Walmart. They shouldn’t cost more than $3 per sheet.
Cuticle care: the Nicole by OPI Oil to Go ($10) smells like watermelon and has a handy brush applicator and is more of a gel than a runny oil – very portable. Saje offers the Herbal Balm that helps everything from nails to lashes ($9.95)
Hand cream: I’m currently using ill-gotten hotel body lotion as hand cream, but it’s nice to have some purse friendly proper hand creams. Try these: Cake Beauty Travel Milk Made Velveteen Hand Cream ($10), Bath & Body Works Nourishing Hand Cream ($5), and EOS hand lotion ($3).
Non-beauty items
Pens: to replace all the ones people stole. I’m partial to the fun ones from Indigo like the 7 Year Pen, Borrow My Pen, sword pen, etc.
Chocolate: I dedicated a whole post on my favourite Christmas sweets, so take your pick from that list!
Tea infuser: nobody thinks they need one until they get one, and then they didn’t know how they lived without one. Shown: David’s Tea ($10 each)
Socks: everybody can use more socks! And getting socks inside a stocking? #ironic
Gift cards: it’s the default gift but $5 or $10 gift cards to coffee shops (Tim Hortons, Starbucks, Second Cup) are quite well received!
What do you like to give or receive in your Christmas stocking?

Awesome ideas! For my stocking stuffers this year, I’ve thrown in nail polishes, shaving cream and face wash. I think its a great way to buy someone an everyday item that they usually need. I love the idea of socks!

I know, right? Where do they go? I think it’s the same place where my socks disappear to…

Such a great list! Stockings have always been my favorite, my Mom wraps literally everything in our stockings- down to a small tube of chapstick! I think thats what makes it the most fun haha

Haha my in-laws wrap everything too – my FIL wraps lottery tickets and CASH for my MIL in her stocking, it’s hilarious.

Opening stockings have always been my favourite part of Christmas morning! Lots of great ideas here – the Cake & B&BW’s hand creams are some of my faces. I’m going to have to look into that Saje Herbal Balm – that sounds pretty cool!

I think stockings is so much fun because people can get really creative in what they include since it’s limited by size / price. I find that the items in stockings are usually really useful too.

Spot on. Stockings have always been a fave of mine (mostly cause we get to open them Christmas Eve) but now that I’m an adult I don’t find that I ever get anything in mine haha. Santa must not care so much for moms the bastard! Gabriel’s is stuffed and ready to go though in his I’ve got chocolate, elmo stickers, a stuffed pig and toy cars 🙂

Aw you tell Mr. to march to the store and fill up that stocking! My coworker (male) was telling me that his wife was complaining that her stocking was empty so we went with him to the chocolate store and even to Sephora to pick up some stuff for her! He wanted to get her a lip gloss hehe.

Awe, yeah that’s how it goes. Women stuff the stockings so they usually get nothing. This year I told my husband we get $20 each to stuff stocking so I’m MAKING him come up with something, haha. That was sweet of y’all to drag your co-workers clueless hubby around to find stocking stuffers. Poor guy, I can’t imagine him on his own.
