Online Discount Makeup Haul

This online order was actually my first official makeup purchase of 2016! Since most stores were closed on New Year’s Day I decided to place an online order to commemorate the occasion.  However, with our Canadian dollar being so crappy, I was somewhat selective in what I was willing to pay.  So I decided to place an order from a Canadian discount makeup site: SaleEvent.ca  They sell mostly drugstore brands like Revlon, CoverGirl, Maybelline and some higher end brands like OPI and RoC – all at discounted prices, and many of the items are discontinued colours.  Back in October, fivezero made a purchase from the site and I went to bookmark the site for future reference, only to discover that I already had it bookmarked – duh! 😛 I’ve never ordered from them before until now:

I ordered it on January 1st and it arrived on January 5th – pretty impressive turnaround time.  And that Revlon nail file was a freebie they included.

Here’s what I got:

• Revlon Chroma Chameleon Nail Enamel: Pink Quartz – $3

• Revlon Nail Enamel: Sophisticated 905 – $2
• Revlon Nail Enamel: Ethereal 008 – $2
• Revlon Nail Enamel: Revlon Red 680 – $2
• Revlon Nail Enamel: Valentine 730 – $2
The regular Revlons were buy 3 or more for $2 each (otherwise they were $3 each) I was rather disappointed by Ethereal – based on online searches, it’s supposed to have a pearlescence to it but all I see is a sheer white cream.

I have no clue why I bought these, to be honest.

• Revlon PhotoReady Concealer: 003 Light Medium – $5
• Maybelline ExpertWear Eye Shadow Single: 180S Silken Taupe – $3
I was VERY pleased to have found the Revlon PhotoReady concealer at such a low price (normally $15).  It was on my Top 15 of 2015, and I’m running out of it. I have a few Maybelline singles from this range and they’re superb quality for the price.

• Maybelline Face Studio Master Hi-Light Blush 30 Coral – $5
I opened the Revlon shampoo to smell it and it totally brought me back! I used to use this back in the day – the smell lingers all day in the hair too. I really wanted just the shampoo, not the 2 in 1 but it was out of stock.

Total: $51 for 15 items.  Shipping is free with $49 purchase but I was so stumped as to what to order after I’d reached around the $30 mark – I honestly spent hours looking through the site trying to find stuff to buy.  I was bummed that they no longer carried the Maybelline Dream Matte powders – I saw them last time I was on the site when fivezero posted her haul.  Ah well – that’s the challenge with these discount type stores, once the products sell out, they’re gone.  Also, there was a 50 nail polish for $50 mystery grab bag offer before – I had stated that I would buy that if they had it – but alas, it’s no longer available!

      1. I’m the same way, but I’d imagine a lot of people are! There’s just something about not trying a drug store product because it’s a little pricey and finding it somewhere deeply discounted

    Love your picks! I keep contemplating another haul b/c I feel dumb that I didn’t get OPI First Date.

    I just picked up Revlon Holographic Pearls this week, too! It’s unusual for me – hope we both like it.

    Revlon Valentine is a beauty. I have a super old bottle.

    1. You’ve been a TOTAL enabler! 😋 I don’t mind though since these were so inexpensive. I can’t wait to try the Revlons. Speaking of Revlons, I just noticed that the Super Lustrous lipsticks are on sale for $4 at Rexall! I need to go back to your mega post to refresh on which shades I was interested in! 💄

      1. LOL! I went by the other day to check them out, but ended up not getting anything – partly because I wasn’t sure if there was anything I didn’t have that I wanted, and partly because peanut was being a menace and grabbing all the testers in sight!

        My faves that you might like are Wine With Everything (Creme version) and Red Lacquer (a sheer red).

        I still need to post the Creme megapost! I haven’t because (and this is dumb) I misplaced US-only Raisin Rage and it’s bugging me SO much.

        1. I went back to those Revlon megoposts and re-read my comments and I did state that I liked Red Lacquer! I also liked Carnival Spirit and Lovers Coral (this one mainly for the name haha!)
          Aw man, I was waiting for the Creme megopost… but I totally understand your reasoning… you could always append to the entry once you find it! 😛

  6. The website prices are so inexpensive. I’ll bookmark it for future reference. I have the Revlon and OPI nail polish from SDM/Pharmaprix. So, glad they also carry ALMAY since I heard SDM is taking them off their shelves. Thanks for sharing 🙂

  14. I don’t think I’ve never purchased from a discounted store but I’d sure be happy to! So many great deals and who doesn’t love all those great l.e. discontinued items!!!😍😍 I am in love with that Maybelline hi-light! I own it in the shade nude:) I also have that revlon nail polish topper the Matte pearl one and I’m obsessed it is such an incredible top polish! It lasts a really long time. I’ve been wearing it non stop!:) Hope you enjoy all your lovely products!!!

    1. I wanted the Maybelline hi-light in the nude but the site didn’t stock it. Ah well – I think the coral will be nice too.
      I’m wearing Revlon Sophisticated (the grey) this week and OMG the Revlon polish is SUCH high quality! I’m SO impressed! I had some older Revlons but I didn’t remember them being THIS good? It applied so easily and I have absolutely no tip wear or chips and it’s day 5. Amazing!

I’ve had it on for i think 2 weeks already and it still looks decent 😉 I keep coming back to it because of the longevity of it lol I’m glad you are enjoying it as well!:D 💖 yes ! I’m also impressed with Revlons quality I think they updated their formula cause it’s amazing and for the price point it’s a damn steal!
