New year, new collaboration! This is another brainchild of miss Ingrid (aka Curly.Spring.Blossom) who approached me with a 10 week long blog series called Project Focus 10. The idea of this series is to focus on beauty products to try to either use them up, or give them more attention:
• 10 weeks
• 10 beauty products we have never reviewed, that we want to focus on or hit pan
• 10 different product categories
There are 4 of us doing this collab so that means we’ll be showcasing 40 products! How awesome is that? 🙂
Today is the introduction to the 10 products! Mine are:
Most of my products are fairly new to me, not necessarily ones I’m trying to hit pan on. They’re just ones that I will be paying more attention to, and report on my thoughts as I use them:
1. Smashbox Double Exposure palette
This was redeemed for using Optimum Points in November and remains untouched. I keep waiting for the “perfect” moment… I’m silly, I know.
2. Clinique Pop Lip Colour in #2 Bare Pop
This was also redeemed for in November but unlike the palette, I busted this puppy open right away and have been using it quite often.
3. Guerlain Lingerie de Peau BB
I’ve had this for about a year and it’s been neglected – I’m focusing on using this up!
4. Shu Uemura brow:sword
I went to the Shu Uemura counter to replace my HG brow pencil, the Hard Formula pencil, but I was talked into trying this one – I use a brow pencil every day so I’ll report on how I find this one compares to the Hard Formula.
5. L’Oreal Voluminous Butterfly mascara
I’ve had this sitting in my stash for a year at least – I’ve finally opened it up.
6. Nars Light Reflecting Loose Setting Powder
This has been waiting in the wings for the Laura Mercier Secret Brightening Powder to be finished and now it’s finally its turn to be used!
7. Smashbox Photo Finish Primer Water
This was also acquired through the Optimum Points redemption event (due to Ingrid’s raving review of it!). I’ve used it a few times only.
8. Kiehl’s Ultra Facial Cream
I’ve had this in my stash unopened for over a year. It’s winter time now, so it’s a good time to bust this out for my parched skin.
9. Orly Nailtrition
Again, like the Nars powder, this has been waiting to be opened as I finish up an old favourite (Witchcraft nail hardener, which I used up in December) and finally its time has come.
10. Muji Cut Cotton Ecru
I’m taking a break from my HG Shiseido Facial Cotton to give the Muji ones a try – I bought this pack in July and it has been patiently waiting for me to open it up.
Those are my 10 items for Project Focus – have you tried any of them? Each week I will review one of the items and provide an update on the rest as we go through all 10 weeks.
This collab will run weekly every Monday for the next 10 weeks, please go check out my co-conspirators:
♦ Ingrid of Curly.Spring.Blossom
♦ Jodi of A Brash Attitude
♦ Joy of Styled With Joy
Pssst, have you entered my Favourite Things Giveaway? All the cool kids are doing it! 😀
I couldn’t wait to get up this morning and see what everyone chose for their 10! 😀

It’s so cool we don’t have any duplicates of our products haha! I thought for sure one of us would choose something the same!

I thought the same thing !!! How amazing that we will share 40 different products 🙂

I’m so looking forward on your thoughts of the Nars powder and Smash box primer- I’ve been eyeing both on Sephora.

Yes those products are so hyped huh? I gave into the hype on both items – will definitely report back on if the hype is justified! 🙂

Oooooh can’t wait for the NARS review too! I’ve been jonesin’ for a new setting powder and I’m a sucker for everything NARS 😉 😉

I’ve been trying it under my eyes and so far so good – I’ll do a full review coming up soon! And yes, I have many Nars items on my wish list too!

Can’t wait to see reviews! So many beautiful products! I also have had the Smashbox palette for a long time and have not touched it once 😬🙈

So silly that we do that! We’re so psyched to buy it, get it home… and it sits in the bag. What gives? 😛

I know! Maybe I’ll pull mine out too and show it some love!

That Smashbox Primer Water is an interesting one! Looking forward to hearing about how you get on with that one!

Yes I’ve never used a primer water before. I’ll have to try it different ways to see how I like it. 🙂

OOOoo I can’t wait to hear your thoughts on the nail hardener. I use the orly base and top coats but I really needs something to keep my nails together (chip city). As for that L’oreal mascara, I tried it before and HATED it. IT was so watery, I’d always get it in my eyes. BUT after a year, maybe it’s thickened up 🙂

I love the Orly base coat! It’s my HG… I even bought a salon sized refill bottle so I’m never without it lol.
Aw I tried that L’Oreal mascara this morning and I was pleasantly surprised! Really good volume and length and not clumpy! Maybe it sitting there for a year helped!! 😛

Nice, must be like wine, it gets better with age 🙂

Thanks! I’m looking forward to finally dipping a brush into that perfect palette… I hate ruining the unspoiled surface but ah well – for the blog! 😉

This is such an interesting and cool idea! I’ve been thinking a lot about trying to use up products recently, especially skincare. I’m looking forward to seeing your updates on these products!

Yes, I don’t like things going to waste and the longer we have skincare sitting there unused, the higher likelihood they’ll just go bad!

This is amazing. I’m excited to read along as you go through these products. I can’t wait to see what you think of them.

I do that too! Have “special occasion” make up that never gets touched 😕
Great collab idea!

It’s so silly isn’t it? I need to break that habit. Same with gift cards – I hoard them too!

I’m kind of sort of tempted to unofficially join in…………

I really like the NARS powder (and am waiting on it to use my new LM powder, hee hee). IDK why but I smell coconut whenever I apply it. I think there’s something wrong with my nose.
This collab is a great way to get on using up those untouched products!

I do not detect any smell in that Nars powder! Now I’ll have to SMELL it closely! 😛
Yes, I can’t believe I held off opening some of these – I’m kicking myself.

Honestly, I might just be crazy, olfactory-wise. 😀

Curious to hear your thoughts on the smashbox palette! I’ve heard so many mixed reviews but it looks beautiful so I kinda wanna give it a try 😛 also I’m in need of a good nail hardener so if that one works out for you I’m so picking it up lol! Soooo many great picks!! Cant wait to see your progress and hear your thoughts on them 😀 💖😊😘

Dude I just left a comment on your blog in the Lorac post and it disappeared. Can you go into your comment spam and release them? For some reason all the comments I’m leaving today on other people’s blogs are going into spam! Stupid WordPress!

I’ve heard good things about the DOUBLE Exposure but mixed reviews about the FULL Exposure one – that one has a top row of really glittery shades. I passed on that one. So far I’m enjoying the Double Exposure palette quite a bit. I’m also testing them applied wet.

Really?? Cool then! I think I saw it on sale half off at Macys impulse so I might pick it up then 👍😊

I love the Smashbox palette! So much that I’m scared I’ll hit pan (but I know I won’t any time soon!)
LikeLiked by 1 person
Haha I am not worried about that, but I am worried about ruining the pans by using it wet. Have you tried it wet yet?
