MAC Purchases: Brushes, Eye Shadows…

I couldn’t resist getting some MAC goodies while on lunch break last week.

Some might think this is rather boring, a bunch of brushes, a few eye shadows and an eye cream…. but you know how I love brushes! 😛

137 Long Blending Brush
I told you I had to get a back-up of this! This one is staying in the wrapper but you can read more about this brush here.

221 Mini Tapered Blending Brush
This was a lemming since I got the 137 last year. I have the 222 Tapered Blending Brush and this is essentially the shrunken down version of that. This will be great for crease work.

139 SE Duo Fibre Tapered Face Brush
161 SE Duo Fibre Face Glider Brush
288 SE Duo Fibre Eye Shader Brush
These 3 brushes were released for the Haute Dogs Collection in the Fall. I thought they were made permanent but I see now they’re in the “Goodbye” section on MAC. I wasn’t sure about them until I got a chance to touch them – they’re soft but have a nice firmness to them as well. The blond bristles are of natural hairs (goat?) and the white bristles are synthetic – these are made in China.

133 Small Cheek Brush
This is a new brush released with the Faerie Whispers collection, and it’s permanent. I hadn’t heard about this brush until I laid my eyes on it at the store and it was love at first sight! It’s made of the same soft white goat hairs as the 137, and the handle is stamped with “Japan”, meaning it’s made in Japan (yay!)

Oval 6 Brush
I’ve been stalking this brush on and off for a long time – finally it’s back in stock. I now have the whole collection of MAC’s Masterclass brushes (ie toothbrush brushes heh). I’ll do a review on them eventually.  Ok, enough about brushes…

Pro Palette Refill in Kid
I saw this on MAC’s “Goodbye” list as well so I had to get a back-up.  This is one of the most buttery, blend-y transitional shades MAC has ever made – it’s very similar to Wedge but a touch lighter and a creamier formula.  Why MAC chose to discontinue this, I’ll never know! 😕

Paints in Sublime Nature and Bamboom
I live in constant fear that MAC will discontinue these Paints in the tube form. I talked about wanting to get these last year in my MAC Paint Pots and Paints post so I decided to finally just get them.

Fast Response Eye Cream
I used this ages ago and really enjoyed it so I decided to get it again since I’m nearly finished my beloved Kiehl’s Midnight Recovery Eye cream – I like to switch things up once in a while.  This is a lightweight gel-cream formula that really helps to give the under eye area an awake look.

I’m planning on getting the MAC Matchmaster foundation after I’ve purged some of my foundation stash. I’m also close to 6 empties for another Back to MAC! Do you have any of these items from MAC?  Any MAC items I should check out?

  1. You’ve got a good group of products here. I’ve always wanted to try the oval brush. I’ve seen so many people with it but no one has ever done a mini review on it. It’ll be great if you could and also the Mac eye cream.

  2. You know me, only a sucker for lippies and I’m waiting for their MAC Retro Matte Liquid Lipcolor. I haven’t check here yet. But that oval brush.. my first encounter of that was from Jeffrey Star. Am I the only one living under the rock? Waiting for your in deep review on this oval thingy here A.S.A.P. 😁😁

    1. I first saw that Oval brush from Korean makeup artist Jung Saem Mool! You should look her up on YouTube, I love watching her transformations!
Ok, I shall prioritize my review of that Oval brush! Just for YOU! 😀

  3. They’re discontinuing Kid?! AND Uninterrupted?!?! What the actual heck MAC.
Now I want that shrunken blending brush. I have a tiny blending brush from Sigma but it isn’t dense enough to blend with so I resent it’s existence very much.

    1. I’ve seen Kid on and off on the Goodbyes page for ages. I’m not sure why. I asked them at the store and they said yes it’s being discontinued. Who knows, maybe they’re lying to me so I’d buy a back-up… 😉
I have a tiny blending brush from Sigma too! (E36 Blending – it’s my one and only Sigma brush – I agree with your assessment if it’s the same brush we’re talking about!) I was going to do a comparison post.

      1. It’s all a part of the back-up encouragement conspiracy!
I think that is the same brush (I’m not completely sure where mine is at the moment to I can’t confirm). I would definitely be interested to see a comparison!

  4. Interesting, I never even knew that MAC carried a brush like the Oval 6 brush. My experience with MAC is limited and I keep wanting to try more of their products (especially brushes!), but then I just end up going to Sephora or Shoppers because MAC doesn’t have a rewards system! 😛

    1. I believe MAC launched those brushes in 2013 – that’s when I bought the 2 smaller ones. The Oval 6 foundation brush promptly sold out and I’ve been waiting for it to be back in stock! Yeah MAC sucks with their non-rewards, however, I’ve noticed just in 2015 that they’ve started having sales on their makeup which is UNHEARD of. I hope they do it for 2016 so I can partake. 😉

  5. I saw those oval brushes at MAC last weekend when I was picking up a new bottle of Pro Longwear (and swatching every lipstick in sight 😂). They just look so weird to me.

    1. They ARE weird! Did you get a chance to touch them by any chance? So soft! I’m concerned about how well it’ll last though, I can imagine the whole thing falling apart with repeat washing.

      1. Well, you have to admit that these days a 39$ high end palette is a deal !!! The new Lise Watier is 65$ and there is no comparaison (NONE!) ?!!!
I’m very anxious to read your review on that Oval brush 🙂

    1. Eh, it’s not the be all and end all! What’s mainly good is that they offer a lot of colours and finishes, and the quality is consistently good. I’d recommend playing around with them at the counter.

    1. Those MAC Paints in the tube are OLD SCHOOL. This is what MAC had before they launched the Paint Pots. Slowly the colour offering of the Paints in the tubes have been diminishing. Compared to the Paint Pots, they’re easier to blend and have more “open” time before they set. They perform just the same as the Paint Pots in terms of preventing creasing and making powder eye shadows more vibrant. 🙂

    1. Isn’t it the BEST brush ever? It’s so damn soft too. I just like dusting it on my cheeks… like a crazy person, lol!
Ok, I’ll wash that brush up tonight and get on testing it! I didn’t think there’d be so much interest in it since it launched a while ago. 😛

  6. I am in love with these oval brushes the’re my favourites! This might sound Mad, but they don’t do back to mac near me but I keep all of my empties. If you are interested I am more than happy to send them your way for free every time they build up. Getting you free gifts is better than throwing them away! :*

    1. Aw that’s so sweet of you! It’d be too expensive to ship empty container to me just so I can get some free MAC products. It’s really too bad they don’t do Back to MAC where you live!
I’m excited to try the Oval brush. 🙂

  7. I recently watched a review of a brush similar to the Oval one that can be used to easily blend foundation, bronzer, and highlighter. It was $80! I’ll watch out for your review on this one.

    1. There are actually even cheaper options from Asian brands. I’m contemplating on buying them as a point of comparison.
Here are the ones that are around $20:
Missha Professional Oval Make Up Brush
      http://missha.ee/en/catalog#!69/products/434
Etude House: Secret Brush 121 Skin:
      http://www.etudehouse.com/index.php/tools/brush/my-beauty-tool-secret-brush121-skin.html
I read the Missha one has a larger head so it covers more surface area. I’m curious!

  9. If I lived close enough to go to a MAC store during my lunch break I would be in trouble! haha… The closest one is SIX hours away. Great choices! I would love to be able to leisurely browse through MAC. I do enjoy online shopping but there is something to be said for browsing and trying things out that you didn’t know you wanted or needed.

    1. It IS dangerous to have MAC so close to me! I have several options very close to where I work and where I live! It’s really great if one location sells out of a limited edition item, I can always hop over to the next store. 😛
