PSA: My Comments are in Your Spam Box!

Sometime around 10 this morning, my comments on other people’s blogs started to not post.  When I hit reply, the comment would disappear – leading me to believe that they were going into the recipients’ spam box.  Thanks to Jodi of A Brash Attitude, who verified for me that my comments were indeed going into her spam box.  It’s also been verified on a few other blogs that for some mysterious reason, my comments are being flagged as spam! I’m no spammer, I’m Stashy! 😛

So, I’m asking for your help.  On your blog, please follow these steps:

1) Go to your WP Admin Dashboard, it is located here:
https://yourblogname.wordpress.com/wp-admin/index.php
(replace “yourblogname” with your blog’s name! 😉 )

Or you can click through from the WordPress “My Site” (where it shows your stats), scroll all the way to the bottom:

It will open in a new tab / window.

2) Select “Comments” from the left side panel:

3) Click on “Spam” along the top, and if you find a comment from me, please click “Not Spam”:

4) Once a comment is labelled as “Not Spam”, it will be moved over to the “Pending” box. Now you need to release it by approving it:

You should really be checking your Spam box regularly – I’ve found the odd comments from real bloggers in there! It’s so annoying that WordPress doesn’t alert you of spams, similar to how they alert you of Pending comments.

Thank you! I really appreciate it. I’ve left probably 20 comments today that all seemed to have disappeared! 😦  What’s annoying is that unless my comments get removed from your Spam box, I can’t leave new comments on your blog because my username is flagged as spam!  Please free my comments!

  4. I try to check my spam regularly because I find when people comment to let me know they tagged me for a post they end up there if they have never commented on my blog before. I guess because of the link? There definitely is the occasional legit comment in a sea of actual spam! Good reminder for everyone to regularly check 🙂

    1. I think there’s a default setting where if a person hasn’t posted at least 3 comments on your blog, their comments automatically goes to Pending. But, when that happens, the poster will see a message above their comment saying “waiting for approval”. Whereas, when a comment goes straight to Spam box, nothing is shown, the comment just disappears. It’s frustrating… although this morning it seems the issue is resolved.
      But yes, everyone check your Spam boxes! 😀

    1. That could be! Hmm I never thought of that. I’m not spam! 😥 Not being able to comment is like me not being able to TALK, that’s just sad. Once, my mom challenged me to not talk for an evening and I lasted about an hour. 😛
