A Newbie LUSH Haul

I’m a total LUSH noob. I’ve gone into that stores only a handful of times and have owned just a few items.  I want to venture more into the brand but I’m usually too overwhelmed by the crowds, the smells, and the selection in there – so normally I walk around in a circle and back out the door. But, I have a friend who worked at LUSH so I picked her brain to help me choose some items, and this is what I ended up with:

Yes I said my previous post was the last of the hauls, my January hauls… this was purchased this past weekend, in February. 😉

What I got:

Refresher Shower Jelly
I really wanted to try a shower jelly after seeing the limited edition Halloween bat one on other blogs. I don’t take baths so bath bombs and whatnot are lost on me. This Shower Jelly smells of lemons and wobbles in the tube – I hope this is as fun as it looks!

Turkish Delight Shower Smoothie
This is a cult favourite and I’m excited to try it. I just smelled it and it is lovely – featuring 2 of my favourite scents: jasmine and rose.

The Sacred Truth Fresh Face Mask
This has a super short lifespan – less than a month! And it has to be refrigerated.  I’ll have to use this twice a week to make sure I use it up.  I originally looked at the Mask of Magnaminty which is popular but it contains peppermint oil which irritates my skin. So I opted for something more gentle and this mask contains honey, glycerin, kaolin, papaya, yogurt… nothing crazy. One thing is for sure, this will make an appearance in the February Trash Stash! 😉

Dream Cream
This is another customer favourite. I like the look of the ingredients: oat milk, rose water, olive oil, cocoa butter… yum. It has a very soft scent.  I noticed that this is the “self-preserving” formula and a comparison to the “regular” formula reveals that this version doesn’t not contain parabens – both versions sell for the same price.

Sophisticated Cream Eyeshadow
I remembered when LUSH launched their makeup line – everyone was ga-ga over it. But I don’t hear much about their makeup anymore. This cream shadow looks like a great taupe shade, which is perfect timing since I’m about to trash one of my taupe cream shadows soon (makeup purge coming soon!)  My Low-Buy February budget is $50 (I’m only counting makeup items) so the purchase of the LUSH eye shadow means I have $30.05 left. 🙂

I can’t wait to try these – have you used any of these?  What are your favourite LUSH products?

    1. The store is really floral and musky smelling so not so much hungry type of scents (I find that more at Body Shop!). Spoiler alert: I used the Sacred Truth mask a couple of times already and I really like it too! This could be the start of something beautiful! 😀

  1. I didn’t even realize they had makeup! I’ve never bought anything from Lush before. I’m rather particular about my skincare, but I am intrigued by some of their face masks. Compared to other face masks, I feel like their price is pretty reasonable.

    1. I think they used to offer more makeup but they’ve since reduced their colour selection and kept their bestsellers. And you’re right about the face masks. I anticipate the tub will last me maybe 5-6 uses and at $8, that’s pretty good value compared to the single use sheet masks that I often use. And these are made with amazing natural ingredients.

  2. Like you, I’m a Lush noob! Even worse, I’m a Lush virgin. Not that I don’t love b&b stuff (I used to love ordering custom blended stuff online) but I can’t stand the smell of the Lush store…from across the street, even. Would like to see your reviews, though – some of that stuff sounds divine! Turkish Delight is one of my fave scents (Ava Luxe Loukhoum is a fave). A friend of mine likes the Lush deodorant, so I might try that, too.

    1. I actually bought a LUSH perfume roller because I loved the jasmine scent so much. I also have tried their lip scrubs. The funny thing is that while the STORE smells overwhelming (very strong patchouli to me), these items individually aren’t so bad.
Funny you should mention the LUSH deodorant – I haven’t tried it but I’m doing the switch from antiperspirant to deodorants and I have a post going up tomorrow on my experiences so far.

      1. Yah, I find the scent overwhelming in the store & often I will smell something on several visits to make sure it’s consistently coming through because the surrounding products blend in & throw everything off. Guess it’s because they’re all made at different times & fresher fragrances are stronger.

  3. Nice haul! Turkish Delight sounds amazing (am a big fan of jasmine scented things), and I’d love to see a review on The Sacred Truth Face mask.

I’m also a Lush noob! I’ve only tried Lush twice, a few years back – once to buy two bubble bars, and once to buy a bar soap that smelled like jasmine. The bubble bars were okay, but like you, I’m not a huge bath person. I loved the smell of the jasmine bar soap, but I didn’t like that it didn’t lather up at all. I’ve always wanted to go back and try their skincare/other shower products like shower gel and shower jellies.

    1. Glad to know I’m not the only LUSH noob! I just see it mentioned all. the. time on blogs but I suppose those are mostly UK blogs. The first time I experienced a LUSH store was in Dublin and I was so fascinated but overwhelmed.
I’m ALSO a fan of jasmine! I actually got a LUSH perfume roller because it was jasmine scent. It’s so lovely… although my friend said I smelled like a hippie… whatever. 😛
I do like Body Shop / BBW but feel that they’ve become so synthetic over the years (especially Body Shop; BBW has always been quite synthetic) and I like to support a company that is steadfast on their commitment to the environment and the integrity of their ingredients. 🙂

      1. You’re completely right, I’ve realized in the past two years that BBW and The Body Shop are/have become really synthetic (although Body Shop is way better than BBW). There aren’t tons of body care brands that use “good” ingredients but aren’t super expensive.

  4. Ooooh! I’m super excited to try the Turkish Delight Shower Smoothie and the Dream Cream sounds like it smells lovely. I’m with you. I could never handle the smell of the store. I have been giving it a chance though and glad I did. I picked up some amazing soaps and some bath melts that are incredible. Thanks for the great review!

  5. I didn’t know Lush even sold makeup, but that is a pretty shade! The mask sounds nice too. It’s probably better to be using something with such a short life span so you’re not getting all those preservatives and junk on your face. I agree with you on the store being overwhelming though. I guess I’ll just wait to hear your thoughts on everything and then compile a list based off your recommendations 🙂

    1. Yes, the more I think about it, the more I’m inclined to have a shorter lifespan on my makeup than having it full of preservatives. I mean, we wouldn’t want that in our food, right? I’m glad I got some recommendations from my friend. I wasn’t thinking of ordering the Dream Cream but she steered me towards that.

    1. I think they design their stores to be overwhelming so that you need to talk to their sales people and then you get sucked into their sales pitch! Just a theory lol. I’ll do a review once I’ve had a try of the eye shadow this weekend!

  6. Goodies!!!!! I looove Lush! We don’t have one in my city but every time I go outta town I have to go to lush! Either that or I’ll order online lol. My fave lush product is by far their lip scrub lol I’ve had it for a while and it’s still surprisingly good as its not expired lol. Believe it or not I was gonna place a lush order last week! I was gonna order some bath balms and other things also one of their jellies! I hope you review these products!:) 😉 I can’t wait lol! That bath smoothie thing looks like it smells amazing I might have to get it! Overall all these products look amazing!😍

    1. I’ve used the lip scrub and actually made my own DIY version of it! Very easy to make. I should post that recipe.
Everyone seems to love the bath bombs! I don’t take baths and I think I’m missing out?
Yes I plan to do reviews of these – the face mask first since it’s going to expire Feb 22nd! Then I’ll do the Turkish Delight Shower Smoothie! 😀

      1. Can’t wait for the smoothie one!👀👀👀👀👀 yeah I’ve seen sooo many recipes on the pinterest of diy lush lip scrubs! Since I have yet to finish mine I haven’t done one but once I do you bet I’m going to give it a try! I’d love to see your recipe so I can do it 😛 I think it’s because the bath bombs are just super cute lol!!! 😍I don’t own one yet but I recently got a new tub and I’ve been dying to get some bath bombs and try them out! The only thing I’m afraid of is the residue :/ I read so many reviews on the website and almost every single bath bomb leaves residue lol ughhh!

  7. You got some great stuff! The dream cream is amazing 😀
I love the masks as well, but I always have to share them with someone because of the short shelf life. They really need to make those smaller so you don’t have to rush to finish them.

      1. Oh please take a photo of that! That will make for some great black mail material. True though, I always share these with my mom or friends and even than i struggle to finish my half.

    1. Oh haha you’re right, the lemon does look like curd in jelly form! It smells very fresh – I’m half tempted to taste it lol.
Thanks so much for the link! I know that I could probably make my own masks but I’m too lazy. 😛

  8. Try the body conditioner BEFORE winter is over! It’s a game-changer 🙂 I don’t need to moisturize again (well, other than my face of course!) after I get out. Winter dry itchies begone!

I bought a couple of the soaps yesterday & am in ❤ with porridge because it smells kinda chocolatey/coffee-ish & has nubby bits that gently scrub & is a very creamy soap. Sandstone is also very nicely scented like lemons & the sand is very scrubby but may be a little rough for people with delicate skin (not nearly as rough as the solid sugar scrub… don't know how NE1 uses those on any part other than their feet!!?!) These were suggested by the store associate after I mentioned I had been gifted 'figs&leaves' and enjoyed the scrubby texture but not the perfumey scent and they are both my new faves 🙂

OH! & don't forget to keep your black containers… After 5? 6? empties, you can trade em in at the store for a BRAND NEW fresh face mask 😉

    1. Oh yes I shall be using the Turkish Delight soon since I’m almost done my current shower gel! Can’t wait! 😀 I just have to be careful not to slip in the tub when I use that…
I’ll have to look into the soaps in the future – I’ve purchased a few from Consonant Skincare so I’m going through those first.
And yes, I will have to remember to keep the containers – ugh, more stuff to hold onto like Back to MAC! I hope I don’t misplace them.

  9. I just made my first ever Lush purchase recently too! I got a couple of bath bombs which were fun (I have a bath tub for the first time in 7 years!) and a tub of Dream Cream which I really like! Kind of pricy but so nice.

  10. I’m new to Lush as well! I’ve heard about them for years but never took the plunge to go inside of a store. Shower/bath products don’t excite me too much, I just pick a body wash and GO haha. I am however, interested in your thoughts on the facial mask. I love masks and am curious about theirs.
