Tony Moly Pocket Bunny Moist Mist

I got this cute little facial mist in January from a local Korean market.

The TonyMoly Pocket Bunny Moist Mist cost me $14 for 60ml from a bricks & mortar store but I’ve seen it being sold for around $8 online.

First thing: the bottle is a-DOR-a-ble! 😀

I feel terrible every time I use this, I have to decapitate the poor bunny. :/

Tony Moly recently revamped the facial mist bottle design, I kind of regret not buying it when the design was this:

How cute is that?! It’s a little bunny suit instead of an actual bunny. I don’t know why, but I find animals dressed up as other animals just the cutest! 😛

I digress. Secondly, the bottle came just shrink wrapped – no box or sticker with the ingredient list:

Here’s what I could find online (thanks to Ulta!):

Water, Alcohol Denat., Glycerin, Butylene Glycol, Glycereth-26, Dipropylene Glycol, PEG / PPG-17 / 6 Copolymer, Phenoxyethanol, PEG-60 Hydrogenated Castor Oil, Methylparaben, Arginine, Fragrance, Carbomer, Disodium EDTA, Sodium Polyacrylate, Propylene Glycol, PVM / MA Copolymer, Propylparaben, Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Extract, Fragaria Chiloensis (Strawberry) Fruit Extract, Prunus Persica (Peach) Fruit Extract, Pyrus Malus (Apple) Fruit Extract, Actinidia Chinensis (Kiwi) Fruit Extract, Ananas Sativus (Pineapple) Fruit Extract, Vitis Vinifera (Grape) Fruit Extract, Vaccinium Macrocarpon (Cranberry) Fruit Extract, Rubus Idaeus (Raspberry) Fruit Extract, Vaccinium Angustifolium (Blueberry) Fruit Extract, Rubus Fruticosus (Blackberry) Fruit Extract, Butylparaben, Ethylparaben, Isobutylparaben.

According to COSDNA, a few of the ingredients in this product could be irritating to skin, including PEG-60 hydrogenated castor oil, alcohol denat, fragrance and the preservatives – so be aware of that.

So while the packaging is all cute – I don’t find the ingredient list too impressive – it’s a long laundry list of stuff but nothing outstanding (glycerin and aloe are the only 2 items I’m liking). And I’m doubtful about all the fruit extracts. This mist is meant for dry skin but I didn’t find it too hydrating since the 2nd ingredient is alcohol.  I normally use this underneath my serum in the mornings, but I have also tried it on top of makeup to refresh – this mist is really a nothing type of product for me.  [For the record, I know that I seem to be really harsh on facial mists – my favourite facial mist is the Sukin Hydrating Mist Toner (10/10 rating!) so I gauge everything against that.]

Not a total loss, I thought. I can repurpose the cute spray bottle!  Sadly though, the spray nozzle on this kind of sucks!  It spits out the mist like a vengeful llama.  *ptooey* 😮

Also, for some reason the cap on mine has cracks in 2 places already. I don’t recall ever dropping it.

Tony Moly offers another version of the facial mist, called the Sleek Mist, aimed for oilier skin type – not sure why that bunny has such a serious face:

At the bottom of the bottle is stamped the date of manufacture:

Note that the majority of Asian cosmetics stamp the manufacture date rather than expiry date. I prefer that since I can do my own math!

Pros:
• Doesn’t leave a sticky film
• Relatively inexpensive
• Cute bottle design

Cons:
• Not too hydrating
• Inclusion of potentially irritating ingredients
• Spray nozzle doesn’t mist product finely or evenly

Stash worthiness: 5/10

So the Tony Moly Moist Mist was a bust for me – at least it wasn’t expensive. I’ll be using it up but will not repurchase.  Have you tried it? What’s your favourite facial mist?

  4. It looks cute, but in a weird way. Definitely asian.
    Even if you can get over the bunny decapitation, not too impressed with the ingredients. i always try to avoid any toners with alcohol. Hope you like your next two toners better!

    1. I’m tempted to track down the older version of the packaging. For a while, Sephora had it on their site but it’s recently been taken down. Eh, I don’t NEED it. As with most things! 😛 Usually the cutesy packaging of Korean cosmetics delivers both on the product and the packaging but not this time sadly.

  14. great review! I had the pocket mist for oily skin and I agree it didn’t do much except make me break out. I’m guessing that is from the chemicals and fragrance they pumped into this bunny :/ LOL! Sorry you got spit back from the product. The way a Llama spits isn’t so pleasant from what I have seen. Hopefully it wasn’t in the eye lol.

      1. Yea, I was pretty bummed. But at less I didn’t pay much. It’s was only $6 on Amazon so I wasn’t too upset, I could have paid full price if I went to Sephora. Lol! I’ve actually seen one do it up close at a petting zoo! 😖

The bottle is so cute, but too bad that the sweet rabbit turned out to be a vengeful llama instead:) When I worked up in the air, I used the facial mist from Clinique, and I was very happy about it. These days, I don’t use facial mist on a regular basis, but when I go on longer flights I bring a spray can of Evian or grape seed water.

  19. Sadly I have to agree with your review!! I reviewed this myself a really long time ago when I was in Taiwan and the climate here really made a difference in how I felt about it. Back in Taiwan I thought this stuff was amazing, but while in the States I thought it was meh. I guess in Taiwan, the humid air did most of my hydration for me and I didn’t realize how much it affected the product results until I moved back to the Midwest. Such a difference!

    1. I never considered the surrounding air affecting a product’s performance in one place versus another – interesting! I was puzzled why I didn’t love it as much as other people did – most of the reviews I read were from Asian countries where it’s more humid – so that makes sense now. Thanks for the insight!

    I bought this face mist a while back as well and if I’m completely honest I 100% bought it for the packaging. It doesn’t do much for me but it does smell really nice!
