Winners Finds – May 2016

I’m really back-logged with my posts as you can see, as this was meant to be posted before I left for vacation, but I didn’t have time to take photos. Ah well, better late than never! ๐Ÿ˜‰

So I wasn’t really planning on doing much makeup shopping before my trip but I’ve been finding some AMAZING stuff at Winners! I just couldn’t NOT buy this stuff:
winners_haul_May2016_2
Burberry! Armani! Nars! Paul & Joe! Nail polishes from the newest collections! I couldn’t even fit everything into the frame. ย ๐Ÿ˜€ ย I’ll start off with the craziest (aka the best!) things:

Armani Master Corrector in #2 Orange – $19.99
winners_haul_May2016_3
This has been on my wish list for ages, and I found it at Winners, of all places! And at such a good price (it retails for $42 on Sephora)! ๐Ÿ˜ฎ I also saw the #01 pink colour there too but I’d read the orange was the way to go. So excited to try this! ๐Ÿ˜€ (and Winners, good for you for locking up the pricier makeup!)

Burberry Sheer Foundation Luminous Compact Foundation in Trench #03- $29.99
winners_haul_May2016_4
This was a case of being at the right place at the right time. I was killing time after work one night and stopped into the Winners near work. There was an associate unpacking a bunch of new items and she was putting a few Burberry makeup items out – liquid foundation and pressed powders. They were all in those little locked cases and there were 2 shades of powders so I took them both up to the cashier to have them open them up for me to see the colours. Oneย of the powders was completely shattered and it was also too dark for me. But this one was perfect and matched me. Score!

Paul & Joe Eye Color CS in 097 Cafรฉ Macchiato – $14.99
winners_haul_May2016_5
This sweet little eye shadow single was part of their Fall 2015 collection. How cute is the owl packaging?

Paul & Joe Moisturizing Foundation Primer N – $19.99
winners_haul_May2016_6
My friend had actually told me about buying this primer at Winners and said she didn’t like it. But I was still curious about it so I got it to try.

Nars Nail Polish in Disco Inferno and Other Side (from 3.1 Phillip Lim collab) – $8.99 each
winners_haul_May2016_9
Disco Inferno is such a neat duochrome shade that I seem to gravitate to. And Other Side is nice vampy shade but not terribly unique, I might give this to a friend who likes Phillip Lim.

Mediheal Platinum V-Life Essential Mask – 10 for $12.99
winners_haul_May2016_8
These look really good (contains glycerin, hyaluronic acid and witch hazel) and I was surprised to find it was less than $15 for the box of 10, most of the boxes I’ve seen are $30.

More nail polishes: I was so psyched to see the new China Glaze 2016 Spring and Summer collections at Winners! I bought a few… go head and judge me. ๐Ÿ˜›

China Glaze Spring 2016 House of Color collection – $5.99 each
winners_haul_May2016_10
โ€ข Pink or Swim
โ€ข Don’t Be Shallow
โ€ข Chrome Is Where The Heart Is
โ€ข Sorry I’m Latte

China Glaze Lite Brites collection – $5.99 each
winners_haul_May2016_11
โ€ข Let’s Jam
โ€ข I Got a Blue Attitude
โ€ข Hot Flash

Random polishes:
winners_haul_May2016_12
โ€ข Nicole by OPI The New Neutral – $5.99
โ€ข Orly Honeymoon in Style – $5.99
โ€ข Orly Catch the Bouquet – $5.99
โ€ข Zoya Pandora – $4.99
โ€ข Jessica Tres Chic – $4.99

BH Cosmetics Smokey Eyes – 28 Color Eyeshadow Palette – $12.99
winners_haul_May2016_14
Finally, I found one of these palettes that haven’t been opened and played with. There were 3 colour options available:ย Neutral Eyes, Essential Eyes, and Smokey Eyes. ย I was tempted by the first two but I went with this one that had a little bit of colour. ๐Ÿ˜‰ This is officially the largest eye shadow palette I own, and my first ever of these 28 pans that are popular from the likes of BH Cosmetics, Coastal Scents, Sedona Lace, and Morphe.

Paula Dorf 5 Eyeshadow Collection (contains L to R: Grace, Mauve, Gunmetal, Riot, and Forest) – $6.99
winners_haul_May2016_15
I’ve been seeing lots of “brand name” makeup at Winners lately by Ellen Tracy, Max Studio and Paula Dorf. Most of them are made in China so I’ve been hesitant to try them. ย These look decent and reminiscent of the Eye Glimmers, however, I found this article that states Paula Dorf herself is slamming these makeup products as devaluing her name. I guess that’s what happens when your company goes bankrupt and sells the brand rights to someone else. :/

Cala Make-up Blending Sponge
winners_haul_May2016_7
This looks really similar to my favourite Quo sponge so I’m giving it a test.

Suisse Clinians Intense A Lifting Anti-aging Toner
winners_haul_May2016_13
Random toner with good ingredients (with retinol and hyaluronic acid) and made in Italy.

And I’ve been on a perfume buying rampage!ย  ๐Ÿ˜ฎ I picked these up on separateย visits… I really like Philosophy fragrances and couldn’t resist:
winners_haul_May2016_16
โ€ข Love Sweet Love – fruity grapefruit & mango
โ€ข Inner Grace – I couldn’t find specific notes on this and it’s discontinued, but it featuresย Egyptian Musk,ย and is often compared toย Narcisso Rodriguez for Her and Sarah Jessica Parkerโ€™s Lovely – but a bit more toned down.
โ€ข Loveswept – passionfruit & jasmine
I’ve tried all three on my skin now and my favourite so far is Love Sweet Love – a grapefruity scent that’s perfect for summer!

And now I’m banning myself from shopping at Winners for a little while (and I’ve been successful in June so far – no makeup purchases there this month!) They always get me with the idea that if you find something, buy it NOW! And I always feel like I’m missing out if I don’t stop in at least once a week since they get new shipments all the time. I’m going to challenge myself to only go once every other week. Are you a Winners / Marshalls / TJMaxx / TKMaxx / discount store addict? ๐Ÿ˜›

    1. They sure add up, don’t they? A few bucks here, a few bucks there… ๐Ÿ˜› I’m looking forward to trying out to BH Cosmetics shadows. Have you spotted BH Cosmetics at your local Winners / Marshalls? I’m just happy I didn’t have to order online and pay for shipping.

  1. Oh now I want to go down to TK Maxx and see what I can find again! I get paid on Wednesday, I can feel a trip going on – haven’t been since I got the NARS polishes at the start of May! What great buys, Burberry and Armani are scores how are you doing with your low buy?

Those Paula Dort shadows look pretty, not heard of that brand before. Also oggling a few of those China Glaze shade, I love the look of “I Got a Blue Attitude” is it as blurple as it looks in photos? I’ve ordered a few similar shades online and when they’ve arrived they’ve never been a true inbetween!

    1. I haven’t added up my May and June purchases yet… I did have a large chunk left over from my April budget so I might be ok. Also, all my Japan purchases don’t count as they were out of country acquisitions! ๐Ÿ˜‰
Yes, the “I got a Blue Attitude” is totally a blurple! I can’t wait to wear it. ๐Ÿ˜€ Here’s a good representation of the shade on the nails:

        1. Yes it’s got a faint shimmer! Really different. All of the Lite Brite collection colours are stunning, I had to restrain myself. There was another grapey purple shade I wanted but could not find.

    1. I could not resist… even though I honestly do NOT need anymore nail polishes. I think I’m going on a nail polish ban for a bit until I actually wear the new ones I have!

  2. I know you said you always stop by Winners to check if they have anything good there, but seriously, you always seem to hit the makeup jackpot there! There’s never anything there every time I go, except maybe for some pretty polishes now and then. Definitely nothing like Burberry, Armani, or Paul & Joe makeup!
Really love the polish shades you picked. The Lite Brite ones are perfect for summer!
You are really getting into palettes this year, aren’t ya? That is one big palette for you!
Mmm, Love Sweet Love and Loveswept sound like they would smell so lovely. Great picks!

    1. I guess I’m just lucky? I wish I had an “in” though – like an associate who’d hold stuff for me… ๐Ÿ˜›
The Lite Brite polishes surprised me – out of my comfort zone but seeing them put me in a summery mood. Most likely they’ll make an appearance on my toes, not my fingers!
I’m wearing Love Sweet Love today – smells so fresh!
Yeah, not sure what’s happening to me, but eye shadow palettes have been my “thing” this year… I think I’ll lay off them for a bit now. I still haven’t cracked open the NYX palette – have you?

      1. Heh, time for you to befriend a Winners employee at each store! ๐Ÿ˜›
Yes, those Lite Brite polishes are definitely toe shades!
I just used the NYX palette for the first time this weekend. Only used two shades from it though, so haven’t gotten a really good feel from it yet!

  3. Super score on the Burberry! Swoon. I see you picked up another Zoya – are they working out well for you, now? Love the Nars polishes – IDK why but my Winners seems to mark them up higher ($12+), and I never see any cool shades (always metallic silver or something like that).

I think I picked up that same Paula Dorf set, recently! Might be slightly different shades, I’ll have to check. I also heard that she’s not involved with the new made in China stuff – sucks but I guess she doesn’t own her brand anymore. I have an ooooold Paula Dorf e/s palette back when it was her co., and it was just OK.

    Ahhhh I love Winners!

    1. The Zoya has been working out for me better! No more peeling, although still not the longest wearing polishes on me – I still get at least 4 days wear without any chips. I love that Winners is selling Zoyas for $5
Sucks that they sell Nars for more at yours – I found these at the FD location.
Paula Dorf was one of those brands I’d hear about but not really had access to, so I didn’t go out of my way to try them (like Scott Barnes and Edward Bess). I don’t have too high hopes for this set, but it could surprise me!

    1. Yes, I’ve been seeing some Holika Holika stuff! There was a pen eyeliner I was interested in but unfortunately someone opened it!
Thanks for the nomination – I shall check it out! ๐Ÿ™‚

  4. Wow sooo many new things!! ๐Ÿ™‚ The only thing I personally have from what you got there is the BH Cosmetics Smokey Eye palette, I bought it a while back that’s why I havent’ used it latey but know you made me remeber it so I should bring it out back again! Please let me know about the Armani concealer, if you like it and how it lasts during the day. You got it for a great price! I know many people liking it but I haven’t tried it myself yet.

    1. Oh I’d love to see a look you come up with that BH Cosmetics palette. I has more colourful shades than I normally wear but I’m trying to incorporate more colour into my looks especially for summer.
I will definitely do a review of the Armani corrector – need to give it a fair trial first. Stay tuned!

    1. I will definitely let you know. Yes, it’s spendy and I couldn’t believe my eyes when I saw it at Winners. I looked around to see if it was my imagination or if it was REAL.

    1. It’s not just about luck… I think I just frequent the stores so often that I was BOUND to find stuff. I have at least 5 Winners / Marshalls close to either my home or work. It’s kind of unavoidable… I’ve been taking detours around those locations lately! ๐Ÿ˜†
