MOTD featuring Annabelle and Vasanti

I’ve never done a MOTD post on the blog since I don’t actually post my face, it makes it somewhat challenging. But through the magic of product photos, swatches, illustration, and imagination – I think I can pull this off. 😛
MOTD_2016_08_05_2
This is the makeup that I wore on Wednesday. It was a day of meetings for me, so I have to look as “polished” as possible since it’s a lot of face time with both internal and external people. Wednesdays are not my favourite days of the week – hump day indeed!

I’ll list the makeup in the order in which I apply them:

Eyes:

MOTD_2016_08_05_5
• Vasanti Silky Eye Shadow Duo in Mount Olympus
• Vasanti Micronized Silky Eyeshadow Singles in Brasilia and Vail
• Kiss Me Heroine Make eyeliner in black
• Revlon Volume + Length Magnified mascara
• Maybelline Eye Studio Master Drama Cream pencil in Taupe Takeover
• Shu Uemura brow:sword in Acorn (review here)

The far 2 left side swatches are the Shu Uemura brow:sword and Kiss Me Heroine Make eyeliner in black.

The Vasanti eye shadows are ones that I really enjoy but seem to neglect. I used the duo on the lid and blended up, with Brasilia smudged along my lash line, and the Vail as my transitional shade. I used the Maybelline taupe liner on my lower lash line. I’ll be doing a review on the Revlon mascara soon.

Base:

• Illamasqua Skin Base in 6.5 and 7.5
• Mary Kay Undereye Corrector
• Too Faced Born This Way concealer in Light (review here)
• LA Colors Pressed Powder in Beige (rave here)

I mix the 2 shades of the Illamasqua foundation for my summer colour (2 parts 6.5 and 1 part 7.5) – in the winter I only need 6.5. This is a fantastic foundation with high pigment and the finish is natural as long as you use a Beauty Blender type sponge. And a tiny amount of product, like 2 pea sized dots, is all that’s required.  And, I’ve found a good corrector that works underneath the TF concealer! Review to come.

Cheeks & Lips:

MOTD_2016_08_05_8
• Annabelle Blush-On in Spring Petal
• Annabelle TwistUp Retractable Lipstick in Divine

The blush is a natural peachy pink shade that has a bit of a golden sheen but not obvious shimmer – it lasts really well on my face too. And the lipstick is so easy to apply and the colour is like a fresher take on a MLBB shade – warmer and brighter. It’s the kind of colour that brings life to the face.

The finished look:

What do you think? Should I continue doing MOTD posts? I change up my makeup all the time in an attempt to spread the love in my stash. Although, I can’t guarantee that the finished looks are going to appear all that different since my staples are taupe eye shadows, rosy blushes and MLBB lippies. 😉

  1. That Vasanti duo!! Love. The Annabelle blush is also gorgeous. I’m lacking a medium warm peachy pink like that in my collection!
You should definitely do more MOTD’s! It’s interesting seeing what combinations people wear together.
Heh, I run into the same problem as you with doing MOTD posts, since we both blog anonymously. I’ve been thinking about doing a MOTD post next week for my engagement shoot look, but how do I do it without showing my face?! lol. It’s usually why I only ever end up doing eye looks!

    1. Vasanti doesn’t sell that exact one anymore but there is a duo called Sherwood Forest that’s similar. 🙂
I will definitely do more of the MOTD then! Perhaps monthly. I need to improve my photo shopping skills – by the way, the face chart drawing was done on that software I mentioned to you – Paint.net 🙂
I think maybe you can do MOTD like this – product shots, swatches, and then you can do photos you find online that is similar to the resulting look? Like a magazine tear or inspiration board. Something like that!

      1. Hehe, you’re good at doing makeup on Paint.net! I feel like I would make the face look like a hooker with unblended makeup!
Hmm, I did think of using the product shots/swatches too, but good thinking about the magazine tear/inspiration board! I’ll give it a try and see how it works out 😉 Thanks for the ideas!

    1. Sadly Illamasqua is no longer available in Canada. The Bay and Sephora used to sell it but in late 2014 the brand decided that North America was no longer viable so the moved out of both US and Canada. It’s available online through their site or BeautyBay now.

  4. I’ve never tried Vasanti Cosmetics before, I keep hearing that they’re available at SDM but I don’t think I’ve ever seen them at any locations here.

I’m liking these posts too – would love to see your actual face! 😉 Take the plunge!

  5. I love this! Such a creative way to do a MOTD post, and I love the use of imagination to picture everything together 🙂 Maybelline Taupe Takeover looks beautiful!! If I wasn’t on my laptop I would be posting at least 10 heart-eye emojis 😛 Let’s just imagine that I did, haha!

  6. I’ve been seeing the Annabelle products here but never thought of grabbing one. I guess I need to find one and try it too. Love the eyeshadows you picked. 🙂

      1. I will, they’re not accessible to find but they become available from time to time. Will for sure grab one as soon as I see one..😍

  7. I love this type of post! I’ve been toying with trying to do more “here’s what I’m wearing” kinds of posts as opposed to “here’s what I’m buying” posts. I’ve been more into shopping my stash lately and it’s fun to share how you use the products in your collection! Plus I am nosey and I love seeing what everyone else is using and how they’re using it.
That was a long winded way of saying “more of these posts please!” 🙂

The Annabelle blush and lipstick are so pretty! I really love peachy pink blush. Especially if it has a touch of gold. The lipstick is a gorgeous shade! I was digging through my stash this morning trying to find a product in a similar tone but ran out of time so no luck 🙂

    1. You totally should do a shop my stash type of post. It honestly makes me fall back in love with what I already own. Like, do I ever need to buy makeup ever again?
Annabelle is such an underrated brand, I want to spread the love! I’d be interested if you do ever find a lipstick like that colour in your stash!

      1. I will definitely do a shop my stash post soon! I keep toying with doing a series but I haven’t quite settled on how I want to do it.
Do any of us really “need” to buy makeup though? I mean, practically speaking I could makeup a small army for a good amount of time 🙂

  8. I agree with Cat, and others on this post. Where’s that gorgeous face of yours??? Kind of beats the purpose of doing an MOTD with the actual MOTD… I want to see more MOTDs! But with that pretty face too! 😛 😛 😛
Your thoughts on that Maybelline brow pencil…

    1. Oh hush! You don’t even know what I look like. Cat is being paid to say nice things! 😋
That Maybelline pencil is an eyeliner, and it’s lovely! Very long wearing and I love the colour!
