China Glaze Change Your Altitude

This was part of the China Glaze Fall 2015 “The Great Outdoors” collection that was all about camping. There were many beautiful shades in the collection and I was happy to have found this at Winners (or Marshalls, I forget now!) in January.

China Glaze regularly sell for ~C$11 here and I got this for $6.

I’ve been on a grey nail polish kick lately. China Glaze Change Your Altitude is a grey creme with a pinky / purpley undertone that makes it really flattering on my skin tone.

It has good coverage with just one coat:

I almost always wear 2 coats for a regular mani:

I found the formula to be a bit goopy to apply, but it all smoothed out when I applied my top coat (I use the Poshe topcoat).

The wear on this polish was exceptional, I did not have a single chip and barely any tip wear (my thumb is messed up slightly simply due to shoddy application! 😛 )

Yes, this really IS day 7 of the mani!

This polish ranks as one of my new favourite grey cremes that I got this year!

I decided that in addition to the typical “hand holding nail polish bottle” shot, I’m going to feature a “hand holding random object” shot. Here is “hand holding Tylenol Extra Strength EZ Tabs, wearing China Glaze Change Your Altitude”:

This was taken on day 3 of the mani.

For those of you not in North America, Tylenol is a popular brand of acetaminophen (aka paracetamol) – I think the popular brand in the UK is Panadol.

Please suggest other items I can be holding. They have to be small enough for me to hold! And no live objects! 😉

What’s your favourite grey nail polish?

  1. I like this colour a lot, but definitely one I’d lean to more in winter than summer! My fave grey is also by China Glaze, it was a L.E, I think called pelican grey, has a subtle silver fleck.
I like this feature of Hand with random object, I look forward to this going forward. Most popular brand in the UK would probably be Nurofen… but most people here would just buy store brand names as it’s all the same strength and half the price!

    1. I have Pelican Grey in my untrieds pile! I picked up so many greys in January, I haven’t gone through them all yet. Another grey I got from China Glaze is called “Recycle” and it’s a taupey grey – can’t wait to wear that one too.
Oh good to know about Nurofen. If I’m ever in the UK in need of pain killer, I shall look for that! Yes, I do sometimes buy the store brand but the brand name ones often go on sale for cheaper than the store brands so that’s why I get that instead.

        1. Wow really? Never?
Ours go on sale every other week. And sometimes buy one get one offer! I didn’t think you could OD on acetaminophen / paracetamol… 😕

    1. I just noticed that I have the bottle turned to the FRENCH side! 😳
Yes I think this polish is better suited for warm skin tones. For you, you need a grey with a blue under tone. We can find it at the CNE!

  3. This is a surprisingly flattering shade! I guess it’s the purple tones that make it more wearable? Looks pretty on you!
Lol I love the idea of holding random things!! 😂 in terms of ideas: a glass of milk, a stapler, a toothbrush, and a slice of pizza. The possibilities are endless!

    1. I like where you’re going with the random objects! I tried holding an egg but did you know that an egg just looks like a white oval blob in photos? 😆 Not very interesting. But yeah a slice of pizza. I need to remember that!

  4. Love this grey! I think I need to get it! I love grey polishes, I have few, little darker. This could definitely fit in my grey’s collection :))

I always struggle to find the right item to hold, never thought of Tylenol tho haha

    1. I probably got 10 grey polishes this year so far, I just can’t get enough! I’ll probably do a comparison post down the road. I used to be all about taupes and beiges but I think grey is my new neutral.
I’ve been wanting to hold something other than nail polish bottles for a while now but wasn’t keen on “normal” beauty blogger type objects. 😛

  5. You made me laugh so much with your Tylenol bottle! I really like a light grey shade, unfortunately on the feet it’s not that Va-Va-Voom 🤔😶
Next time you could hold a flashlight ?! This would be a first😉

    1. Oooh a flashlight! Yessss. I will add that to the list. Might not be next week but it will make it on one of my weekly mani posts for sure!
Yes I typically wear flashy colours on my toes too. Side note: my mani and ped hardly EVER match! 😛

    1. It’s a pretty chunky bottle, but also keep in mind that I have really small hands too! 😆 I figured a Tylenol bottle was good as anything to show off a manicure, why not! 😛

  6. The Tylenol is clearly the winner here right? Such a radiant colour and what contrast to your nails 💅 😂😂😂 this grey nude colour looks good on you. Your application is not shuddy at all. Look at how smooth it looks?

    1. That’s right – that bottle is like ART. We have child proof bottles that are a pain to open and they developed these ones with the big ribbed cap so people with arthritis can easily open them! Plus, they are coated with a sweet coating so they’re easy to swallow!
      Thanks!

    1. I always spell it as grey and got curious why I see it spelled gray. Turns out with the “e” is the UK spelling, and with the “a is US spelling. Now you know! 🙂
Oh yes, Essie Merino Cool is a classic! It’s much darker than this. I’m all about the light, dove type of greys lately!

  7. That’s a nice grey! About the things you can hold… a roll of bin bags, your hair dryer, a hand sanitiser, a fragrance bottle, a bunch of pens, a stapler (I’d love that!), a pack of make-up remover pads, a biscuit, a bag of Rainbow Drops, a sandal, a sandwich, a glue stick, mouthwash, toothpaste, a cucumber, a small spice jar, a remote control…

  8. Beautiful shade! It reminds me of OPI’s Skulls & Glossbones from the Pirates of the Caribbean Collection (2011 I think?) which is one of my favourite polishes in this shade range. I haven’t worn it in quite awhile though so I’m going by memory. Impressive wear time! I find China Glaze polishes don’t last very long on me but maybe I should give them another chance…

    1. I just looked up the OPI Skull & Glossbones and it has more of a yellow undertone to it. Greys are so nuanced – there are so many undertones to it that makes it so different! I find China Glaze to last really long on me, typically. They’re up there with Essies for me!

    1. Haha yeah maybe I can hold skincare for a 2 in 1 post! 😛
I used to not do much clean up when I did the nail photos but I realized that the camera picks up every little detail! 😛

  10. I love this tone! It looks so good on your nails too. 👌 My favourite grey tones are from OPI’s 50 Shades of Grey line. Although I am not a fan of the 50SoG franchise, the nailpolishes are great.
