Nuworld Botanicals Aromatherapy Personals

What a difference one day makes. I made a conscious decision to lay off blogs yesterday – I just couldn’t muster genuine interest after the American election results.  But I suppose the best way to move past the shock is to resume normal activity.

Today I’m showing a few nifty pocket-sized aromatherapy remedies from Nuworld Botanicals called Aromatherapy Personals:

Jet-Lag Relief Roll-on
Sinus-Headache Relief Roll-on
• Stress Relief Multi-Nutritive Oil for Body, Bath and Hair

I didn’t specify what products to try from Nuworld Botanicals so it was prophetic and timely that Natalie Cascella (the founder of Nuworld Botanicals) sent these specific ones to me!

The concept of aromatherapy is a fairly new one for me. I enjoy scents like perfumes and room fragrance, but I didn’t really consider how certain ones could be beneficial to my overall well-being. These little roll-ons from Nuworld Botanicals was a great way to try out aromatherapy for various health concerns.  Here are my experiences with them over the past month.

Jet-Lag Relief

As you know, I recently was on a Mediterranean cruise. The time difference between that area of the world and Toronto is between 6 to 7 hours (we had a time change on the ship, between Croatia and Turkey, even!)  I don’t know what it was, but returning home from this trip really hit me hard. I’ve been to Asia where the time difference is a full 12 hours, and I didn’t feel as jet-lagged as I did this time. For the first night I was fine – mainly due to exhaustion – I fell asleep at 10pm local time and slept through. But the next 3 nights, I kept waking up between 2am and 3am (which would have been 8-9am Mediterranean time) and could not get back to sleep!

I started applying this on day 2 – as instructed, to pulse points, especially at the back of my neck. This smells refreshing – I think due to the ginger in it.  I even brought this roller-on bottle with me to work so I could apply during the day – I did really appreciate the portability of this. My jet-lag did subside by day 5 but I’m unsure if I can attribute it solely to this or if I was naturally acclimating back to local time.

Sinus-Headache Relief

nuworld_botanical_aromatherapy_personals_5
I suffer from seasonal allergies and my sinus acts up whenever Fall / Autumn rolls around. Lately, I’ve also been waking up with a headache, which is usually caused by changes in the barometric pressure. This type of headache is characterized by a dull pain behind the eyes that lingers all day long. I don’t love the idea of popping pills whenever my head hurts but when I need to be functional at work, it’s normally what I resort to. I tested out the Sinus-Headache Relief on my recent headaches and I was quite amazed that upon contact with my skin, I can immediately feel a subtle radiating cooling sensation from the oil (due to the peppermint, I presume).  It didn’t immediately get rid of my headaches, but it did ease the pain so that I was able to focus on other things. I tested applying this to the various pressure points as indicated – my preferred areas for application were between the brows and at the temples.  These oils did not feel greasy on the skin and the scents were not overwhelming.

Stress Relief

And lastly, the Stress Relief. Who doesn’t live with some level of stress in their lives? I have been busier than usual lately, and have probably stretched myself a bit thin too.  What, with the American election, we Canadians were getting second-hand stress! (insert super disappointed / sad / mad face here! 😦 😥 😡 ) I tested this out for the past couple of weeks, applying this in my hair as both an aromatherapy as well as a treatment for my locks (I really am in need of a haircut!)  The smell of this isn’t my favourite since it’s strong on the patchouli – but, I do think that it had a calming effect.  Whenever I get stressed, I have a tendency to tousle my hair – so by applying this in my hair, I kept getting whiffs of this throughout the day which aided in the effect. I have this in the sample size – the full size is not a roll-on – it’s a multi-purpose oil that can be used in the bath, as a hair or body oil.

Nuworld Botanicals offers a whole host of Aromatherapy Personals to aid with things like immunity, anxiety, appetite and even an aphrodisiac! 😉 The roll-ons retail for C$17 for a 9.6ml roll-on bottle, and the Multi-Nutritive Oil is C$25 for a 50ml pump bottle.

Pros:
• Portable
• All natural
• A little goes a long way
• Multi-purpose
• Well priced

Cons:
• Takes longer to work
• Doesn’t work miracles 😉

Stash worthiness: 8/10

Nuworld Botanical products are available online at nuworldbotanicals.com, or from well.ca

Note: these were sent to me free of charge to try, and I formed my own opinions about them.

I’m still learning about aromatherapy and trying to incorporate them into my everyday life.  I’ll be slathering on the Stress Relief for months to come… I might also need the Anxiety and Meditation oils too. Zen now for America, and the world.

Do you use aromatherapy to help with ailments or overall well-being? What do you like to use?

  1. I feel like part of aromatherapy and these kind of well being products is not being sceptical enough to think that they won’t work – that’s my mindset from the start whenever I’ve tried most of them. I’ve been struggling to sleep over the past few weeks with worries in my head I just can’t shift and have tried just about everything and nothing seems to calm me down, but I don’t think I believe in it from the start which is the first hurdle!
Nice that these are multiuse though, a lot of the ones I’ve seen in the past have been so much of a greasy oil you wouldnt want to put it on your hair.
Sending warm hugs to Canada, our friend whose officially emigrated there from the UK jokingly said he wants to come home he feels too close to Trump! x

    1. I think you’re right, one has to be “open” to the concept to allow it to work. I wasn’t a skeptic, but rather, I’m impatient. So if something doesn’t cure my ailment quickly, I’d just escalate to the next course (popping a pill). I’ve been using scent diffusers at night to help me wind down before sleep and they do help.

Thanks for the kind thoughts! Yes, we’re literally attached to them. We had plans to perhaps visit the States next year (toying with Seattle) but we’re not going to go now. :/

    1. Yay happy dance for your new diffuser! I have 2 blends from Saje and I love them both: Liquid Sunshine, and Gratitude. Liquid Sunshine is strong on the citrus whereas Gratitude is more earthy / warm. Enjoy your new diffuser!

  2. I have a co-worker who wears tons of aromatherapy oils to work (I think she sells them on the side, too), and it permeates the whole floor. I find the smell calming, but a lot of people don’t like it. One of my coworkers who works on another floor says our floor smells like old lady, LOL. Have never used them myself, but I like the idea!

    1. Oh ick, no one else needs to smell my aromatherapy stuff, it’s only for me! I can see how some people would think it smells old lady – many of the blends contain patchouli which I typically associate with “old lady smell”. You could start with something small, like lavender, to help you sleep before bedtime. 🙂

  3. Like you I don’t know a whole lot about aromatherapy either but these oils sound good 🙂 It’s nice the scents weren’t overpowering (minus the patchouli) and they did provide you with some relief. The little bottles are pretty cute too!

  4. I’ve used aromatherapy oils for headaches for years and just recently started to use them for other things like stress and anxiety. And I agree with you, they DON’T work miracles but even if it only helps a little I’d rather get that little boost from something totally natural that smells soooo good than resort to Tylenol or Xanax.

    1. Yes, people need to have realistic expectations with these. But it’s great to have options. I just have to switch my mentality about how I can deal with health concerns. It’s so ingrained that we just reach for easy / quick things.

  5. Great post. After Cat talking so much about aroma therapy, I got more curious. I have friends and family that swear to it and I believe that certain scents are beneficial, im surprised that i haven’t really tried it myself (other than everything lavender therapy haha).
I need to get me some 🙂

    1. Give them a try! I was a little skeptical but really, what harm could it do? I’m glad I tested these out and will continue to seek out other oils as remedies. I think we’re just so used to popping pills now…

  6. I had to stay off the internet for a while too. Well, tried my best anyway. But the aromatherapy oils sound nice. I could totally benefit from the headache oil. I’m not sure about the stress oil though. I’d need something more mild scented I think. I might have to try some out for myself!

    1. I know what you mean, this whole last week has been media overload!
I never used to pop pills so quickly whenever I had a headache but now it’s become so routine. I’m glad the oils helped at least to reduce the throbbing pain. Yes, I’m looking for a milder stress oil – patchouli just isn’t my favourite.

    1. I’ve been testing the one that Nuworld sells and it is FANTASTIC! I received one from my SO for Christmas last year, from Saje – and I prefer the Nuworld one better. Here’s the link.

It has settings where you can have it on 24 hrs in short intervals, and auto shut off. It’s really compact design. I’ll post about it soon. I still want to try one from MUJI, I hear they’re good too.

  8. I’m sorry that you’re dealing with second hand election stress! I feel like the US and Canada are sisters and it’s totally legitimate for you to feel strongly about our current shenanigans since what one of us does totally affects the other. It’s strange times that we’re living in, that’s for sure!
My mom bought me an aromatherapy diffuser for Christmas last year and I really enjoy it! I don’t know that the oils really do anything but they smell nice.

    1. The US media dominates our airwaves too, so we are always informed of what’s going on with you guys! Our politics is so mild compared to yours. Plus, we don’t have drawn out elections like what you have… ours is 6 months of campaigning, max.
I think pure oils in the diffusers are better than synthetic stuff from candles… just a guess!

      1. It makes me so happy that your politics aren’t as insane as ours honestly. US politics have lost their damn minds tbh.
I always find it so weird that here in the US we don’t get much by way of international politics. I generally check out BBC for my news, but our major news sources within the US just tend to pretend that the rest of the world doesn’t exist. It’s completely bizarre.

  9. I love aromatherapy – I’m typically just a big ball of stress most days and I definitely see a difference when I use it. I’m so missing my diffuser from Saje that I broke earlier this year so I asked for another one for Christmas and I’m hoping I get one.

The Sinus Headache rollerball sounds awesome – we get so many chinooks here that I’m always dealing with pressure headaches and probably should buy stock in Advil for how often I take it. Peppermint oil definitely helps take the edge off.

    1. Oh no, what happened to your Saje diffuser? I got one from them last year and I do like it. I don’t use it nightly though. I hope you get a replacement for Christmas!

Chinooks are so foreign to me… but I imagine they wreck havoc with people! I really try not to take too many Advil but Tylenol just doesn’t cut it some days…
