Hauluary 2017 – Nail Polish

Nail polish haulage deserve its own post! 😎

I have no regrets! 😛

Again, these are all purchased on different visits / online orders – many were in conjunction with the makeup that I hauled. 😉

Sephora
hauluary_2017_nail_polish_3
• Formula X Holiday 2016 X In The City Mini Nail Polish Set includes 10 shades of 4ml bottles: Fahrenheit (cool red), Electri-City (coppery shimmer), Obsessed (dark merlot), Majestic (navy blue), Epiphany (antique gold shimmer), Gray Matter (charcoal gray), Perfection (smoky violet), Intensity (powder pink), Wanderlust (lavender platinum shimmer), X Appeal (pink shimmer)
I scored this for 50% off (originally C$44) and I snagged the last set. 😀
hauluary_2017_nail_polish_4
• Sephora Formula X Gray Matter, Moon Glow, and Equinox
They had all of their Formula X polishes on for 50% off as well.

Yves Rocher (online)
I’m finally trying these Botanical nail polishes that fivezero raves so much about!
hauluary_2017_nail_polish_7
• Botanical Colour Nail Polish in Sparkling Cranberry, Black Cherry, Poppy Red, Rosewood, Magnolia, Pearly Wood, Agave Green, and Mint
These bottles are very small – only 5ml – but when was the last time you finished a whole bottle of nail polish? These were 50% off (regularly $6)

Nail Polish Canada (online)

• China Glaze Dope Taupe
• ILNP Central Station
• ILNP Chleo
I’ve been hunting down CG Dope Taupe since seeing it in people’s beauty boxes late last year. I’m sure I already have a similar colour in my stash but not one with this awesome name! And, these are my first ILNP polishes and they’re gorgeous! Those nudey holos… 😮

Toronto Barber & Beauty Supply
hauluary_2017_nail_polish_14
• Essie Damsel in a Dress, DJ on Board, and Catch of the Day
They had a cart full of Essies that were marked down to $2 each (my sister went nuts and bought 12 bottles!)
hauluary_2017_nail_polish_15
• Essie Gel Couture in At the Barre, and Closing Night (Ballet Nude collection)
These were $11 (no sale on those but they’re cheaper than what other places charge… and my sister egged me on to buy both of these 😉 )

Harlow & Co. (online)
hauluary_2017_nail_polish_12
• Colores de Carol in Sandstone
• Cirque in We Trippy
• Cupcake Polish in Down for the Count
I happened to go on Harlow & Co. when they were offering an extra 20% off on sale items (prompted by this post by Sandra over at Finger Candy). This is my first time shopping on Harlow & Co. and it turns out they’re just based out of Kitchener (a town in southern Ontario, about an hour’s drive from Toronto!) These polishes look so tame in the bottles but I assure you they’re are all sparkly and holographic. The Cirque one is a holographic topper – I can turn any of my boring polishes into a holographic sensation! 😀

Sale Events (online)
hauluary_2017_nail_polish_8
• Cover Girl Outlast Stay Brilliant Nail Gloss Diva After Dark 330, Bombshell 313, Eternal Oceans 305, and Teal On Fire 55
hauluary_2017_nail_polish_9
• Cover Girl Outlast Stay Brilliant Nail Gloss Emerald Blaze 50, Coy Coral 255, Reliable Red 170, and Lav-endure 145
I was on the hunt to scoop up all the CG Outlast polishes since I’ve enjoyed the 3 that I’ve tried so far. I’ve never seen these at the drugstores.

Shoppers Drug Mart
hauluary_2017_nail_polish_17
• L’Oreal Le Vernis à l’huile in 550 Rouge Sauvage and 664 Greige Amoureux
After seeing these on fivezero’s blog, I vowed to pick some up as soon as they were on sale. These were 35% off. I recently learned that these polishes aren’t available in the US, oddly.

The Body Shop
hauluary_2017_nail_polish_5
• Colour Rush Nail Polish in 510 The Body Shop Green, 610 Crazy for Blue, and 020 Red Bellious (Holiday 2016)
These were only $2 each – regularly they’re $8. I originally only bought the green but decided to get a couple more since they were so cheap. I am wondering if they’re being discontinued.

Hudson’s Bay
hauluary_2017_nail_polish_10
• Butter London Aston, Hen Party (Spring / Summer 2011), and Lady Muck (Spring / Summer 2011)
hauluary_2017_nail_polish_11
• Butter London British Racing Green (Fall / Winter 2009), The Black Knight (Holiday 2011), and Queen Vic
These were 50% off online – I’d never bought nail polish from Hudson’s Bay before (it’s the Canadian equivalent to Macy’s) and oh my gosh, they shipped these wrapped just in light Kraft paper in a lightly padded paper envelope! I’m just lucky none of these broke during transport. I’m actually still missing one bottle that is being shipping by itself.

Winners
hauluary_2017_nail_polish_6
• Butter London Brown Sugar (2014 Art of Alchemy Set), Scouse (Fall 2012), and Wallis (Fall & Winter 2011)
• NCLA in Cancer (What’s Your Sign collection)
Then, I spotted a few Butter Londons at Winners for a couple of bucks less than what Hudson’s Bay was selling their for – I had been wanting the shade Wallis for ages. And the NCLA polish was simply because I’m a Cancer in the zodiac sign! 😛 I also picked up one for my sister, who is an Aries (I liked her colour better, which is a cool toned deep red).
hauluary_2017_nail_polish_16
• OPI set includes Say Hello Kitty! polish and Swarovski crystal bow nail accents (Hello Kitty 2016 Collection)
• OPI Oh My Majesty! (Alice Through the Looking Glass Collection)
• Models Own Diamond Deluxe Pear Purple
I’ve been keeping and eye out for that OPI Hello Kitty polish – it wasn’t available individually and the set retailed for $25 due to the Swarovski crystal bows (which are adorable, by the way, I might try to make jewellery out of them) – I scored this set for only $6! And I was heavily influenced by Beauty Geeks’ post on the Models Own polish. 😛

After I photographed all the polishes together, I almost declared that I wasn’t going to buy another nail polish for 2017. XD Then I pulled myself together and reasoned with myself; I’ll just adhere to my 1-in, 1-out policy and keep to my No-Buy Low-Buy targets. 🙂

Do you have any of the polishes that I picked up?  Which colour caught your eye?  This isn’t the last of my January haulage since 1) I’m waiting for some items in the mail, and 2) January ain’t quite over yet! 😆

    1. I haven’t done a proper count lately but it’s got to be more than 700 bottles by now… I know, it’s getting embarrassing. 😳 But, I plan to declutter a lot of them this year. I don’t use a lot of them.

  1. MY GOD WOMAN! What a Haul! I count 57 polishes here, 1 a week for a mani should have you sorted for the whole year!

I’ve got OPI Oh My Majesty on my wishlist – Heard a youtuber talking about that recently. DY On Board and Closing Night looks really pretty – does Closing night have a slight shimmer?

Heard great things about Cirque and Cupcake polish, this year I want to try more indie and smaller brands – but the shipping is never from the UK so it’s always so expensive, I’d be looking at about $120 USD for about 4 polishes from a lot of sites! I particularly love the look of those ILNP colours. I may treat myself to a few bottles as a birthday present to myself!

Covergirl Emerald Blaze looks a lot like Green on the Runway from OPI Coca Cola Collection.
I wonder whether formula x is being discontinued, I’ve seen so many of the bottles every time I go into TK Maxx here, makes me wonder why they have specially shipped them over from somewhere if not.

    1. This is actually a reduction on the number of nail polishes I hauled compared to last January! 😛 If I recall, I bought around 100 bottles last January.

The OPI Oh My Majesty wasn’t even on my radar until I came face to face with the bottle. It reminds me of the China Glaze polished called Pearl Jammin’, which is blue with the same pearlescent finish. Yes, Essie Closing Night has a blue shimmer! It’s sooooo pretty and quite unique.

Yes, I’ve been wanting to branch out into indie brands. Overall, they’re just more expensive compared to mainstream brands – there’s no way around it. But your prices are highway robbery! 😮

I don’t think Formula X line is being discontinued but I suspect that Sephora is changing the packaging. I have no basis for this but just based on assumption. 😛

  2. OMG where to start?!?!?!!?

I got a Models Own from Winners, too!

Yay, so glad you got some the YR polishes. They’re fabby. Small but yeah, who needs 15 mL? 🙂

I feel like we hauled from a lot of the same places last year, hahaha! And yeah, HBC ships polishes horribly (like YR). I have an Instagram post of it from last year but can’t be bothered to find it. Basically it’s like 5 high end polishes (Chanel, etc) all loose in a massive box. Grrrrr.

Thanks for posting the TBS polishes! I hope they aren’t being d/c, as they’re nice. I didn’t see those holiday polishes on the website, will add to database 😀

    1. Which shade of the Models Own did you get? I almost didn’t pick one up just because of the fat cap design (a peeve of mine) but I was curious.

I can’t wait to try the YR… 😀 And YES, I forgot to make mention of their terrible shipping – nail polish just tossed loosely into the big carton! I am shocked. And we have places like Nail Polish Canada and Harlow & Co individually wrapping their polishes in bubble wrap. And well, the reason why we shop at similar places is because I was influenced by YOU! 😆

I’m curious about whether TBS polishes are being discontinued… or maybe repackaged?

  3. Ummmmm….WOW! I’m glad you started your post by saying you have no regrets! 🙂 Great polishes! I’m thinking you basically need to change your polish what, once a week and you’re sorted for a year??!! Love them – especially Grey Matter xxx

  4. OMG!! So many nail polishes! You went crazy, and I can’t pick a favourite!

I’ve been eyeing the Essie Gel Couture in Closing Night…I love the microshimmers in it, but it’s so…cool grey! I tend to go for taupey greys, so I don’t know if it’ll look nice on me. $11 is a good deal though, that’s the cheapest I’ve seen it too!
Those ILNP polishes are gorgeous. I’ve seen them all over the internet but always wondered where I could get them!

Ahh, all of the sparkly Formula X polishes at the Sephoras here were out of stock well before Christmas. They only had (and still have) the crème finishes left, but I don’t want any of them.

Aston and Lady Muck from Butter London look super pretty! The Black Knight is going to look amazing over a dark base, too.

    1. I know I went mucho crazy on nail polishes. They’re just like CANDY! I can’t resist. 😛

I know what you mean about your reservation on Esssie Closing Night. I almost didn’t buy it but my sister insisted! XD I blame her! I think I can pull it off especially in the winter / cooler months when I don’t have a tan. We’ll see.

And I didn’t know where to order ILNP before either, until I saw it Finger Candy’s blog. The tricky thing is that usually Nail Polish Canada is sold out of all the popular shades really fast, and you have to wait until they restock… if ever. I was lucky I found a couple shades that were both in stock and ones I like.

I lucked out with the Formula X full size bottles. I was actually at Sephora to buy something for someone else and happened on those. It was at a location that isn’t as high traffic (it’s a stand alone street store) so that could be why they still had some nice colours. Each of those shades I picked up were the last bottles! Even further justification to buy them, right? 😉

    1. These don’t live in my “cabinet” lol. They’re in smaller bins that are airtight. And no, there won’t be an update simply because I’m doing decluttering concurrently – it’s a mess right now!

      Liked by 1 person

        1. Haha! Nope, I like the ones that are the size of shoe boxes. Just tall enough for nail polish to stand upright. I like to store them by colour: nudes in one, reds in another, etc.

  5. So many stunning shades!! I bought the Black Knight from Butter London a few years ago.. I’ll have to dig it out again! It’s so pretty! I think the two shades that stick out to me the most are Butter London British Racing Green & Lady Muck! I really need to pick up a few more Butter London polishes apparently! Amazing hauls! 😍

    Liked by 1 person

    1. BL British Racing Green is kind of outside of my comfort zone but hey, it’s the year of green so I should get on board. And Lady Muck is right up my alley! I just love greys. 😀 Yes, you should check to see if the Bay has any more for 50% off.

    1. I decide based on a mixture of my mood, the weather, if I have some “serious” meetings at work for the upcoming week…
I do have several favourite nail polish brands. Still tops for me is Essie – it’s been a long time favourite. Lately I’ve also been enjoying China Glaze a lot – really solid formula and lots of unique shades. 🙂 Are you a fan of nail polishes?

      Liked by 1 person

      1. That’s a good criteria 🙂
I am a fan of nail polishes, I enjoy doing my nails and like to have staple shades but sometimes I think “a pale pink or a sky blue” would be nice and is missing so I try to fill that gap. For example, last weekend I was after a berry shade and settled on Bahama Mama by Essie. I can’t wait to wear it. I am quite new to Essie but I like their brushes and bottles. A couple of pastel shades aren’t as good quality wise but that’s often the case with light colours. Rimmel polishes are pretty good too! I’m thinking of doing a post about my nail polishes, I’d like to declutter.

  6. I don’t even know where to start, this is such a beautiful haul! Essie polishes for $2 is an instant buy, I probably would have went crazy like your sister as well confronted with that :]

It is super annoying that we don’t get those L’Oreal polishes in the states, I am seriously regretting only buying one bottle while in the UK… perhaps it’s time for another trip to Canada!

I would be really interested to see Butter London Scouse swatched, I’ve never seen it before and it looks gorgeous in the bottle.

    Liked by 1 person

    1. I was VERY tempted to haul all those $2 Essies but a lot of them were brights or similar colours I already own so I had to talk myself down. 😛

BL Scouse is really interesting – it shifts from a blue to a purple / pink. The shimmers are like flecks. I suspect it might be more of a topper than a solo polish.

I would offer to ship your some of those L’Oreals but the post office is militant here about flammable items in the mail. I think your best bet is to just move up to Canada. XD

  7. Yay, you did it! I hope your experience with Harlow was a good one – I hate it when I’m all hyped for a vendor or something and somebody else is like, “Oh yeah, the polishes came broken in a million messy pieces and the delivery guy punched me in the face.” As a for instance.

    Liked by 1 person

    1. Harlow was fantastic! Very speedy, great communication and the polishes were wrapped like they were fine China! 🙂 No face punching, no shards of glass wrapped in tissue paper. ALL GOOD. I’d definitely order from them again. The only thing I’m annoyed is now I have yet ANOTHER source for nail polishes aka temptations. Thanks a LOT. 😛

      Like

    1. Yes, Essie Closing Night is a grey with blue shimmers! Very unique – I almost didn’t pick it up but my sister insisted! 😉 I will wear these in due time but I’m not known to be speedy… I can assure you that the Essie Gel Couture polishes are fantastic quality, if you’re thinking of trying one.

      Liked by 1 person

      1. It’s okay I review products I’ve had the longest first so I feel ya there! I’ve not tried Gel Couture but wanted too, you know it kinda reminds me of Illamasqua Raindrops by the sound of it, sounds lovely either way! 🙂 xx

    1. It happens. I wish there was an edit button on comments sometimes.
The ILNP polishes are probably my favourites from this haul. I can’t wait to wear them! I’ve been too busy to photograph but maybe next week.

  8. That is a great nail polish haul! I am not super into nail polish anymore, but I remember hunting down every possible shade and top coat for a while that I could get my hands on. Had a lot of fun doing that. Sadly so many brands are only available online here or not even available at all, which makes shopping so much more difficult. I stopped buying nail polish online after having made one too many dub purchases.

    1. I go back and forth on nail polishes – I think I’ve come to the realization that I pretty much have exhausted every colour under the rainbow. I’m on a mission to declutter a lot of my polishes this year.
Online shopping for makeup is always hit and miss – I much prefer seeing them in person.

      1. I’m the same. I have every color imaginable. I just can’t seem to cull anymore from my collection. I like where it currently stands, even though one or two of my drawers are overflowing.

  9. Is it weird that I found this post very relaxing? I can scroll through nail polish posts all day haha. That Hudson Bay polish delivery sound atrocious!! Thank goodness none of them broke. You would think a higher-end store like that could spring for some bubble-wrap lol. (PS. just catching up on your posts so don’t mind the multiple comments haha 🙂

    1. I know, there’s something about nail polishes. Like eye candy. So many colours / finishes / possibilities.
Yes, the Bay should really know better! I mean, would they ship a glass bowl like that?
Haha, yes, I noticed you’ve been spamming my blog! 😉

    1. Yes, there will be an end to Hauluary! I’m waiting for a few shipments to arrive… but I’m currently on my 2nd day of No-Buy! 😮
One of my in transit parcels is from Born Pretty for some stamping supplies…
