Hauluary 2017 – The Last of it

This post captures the rest of Hauluary:
hauluary_2017_random_2
Most were bought on-line and some were bought up until the very last day of January! 😉

Mary Kay
hauluary_2017_random_3
• Perfecting Concealer in Dark Ivory and Light Beige
• Foundation Primer SPF 15
• Makeup Finishing Spray by Skindinävia
• Satin Hands set (gift)
I’m typically between 2 shades in MK’s concealers so I got 2 colours to mix. The previous version of their concealer (in the black squeeze tube) was one of my favourite formulas. I have high hopes for these! Also, I was informed that Mary Kay removed plastic beads in their hand scrub – that’s amazing news!

Jolse
hauluary_2017_random_4
• CosRX BHA Blackhead Power Liquid
• CosRX AHA 7 Whitehead Power Liquid
This is my 2nd time ordering from Jolse since my first experience was so good. I happened to be on the site when I saw that they were having a sale on CosRX products – I’ve been wanting to try CosRX for a while so I decided to take the plunge.
hauluary_2017_random_5
• CosRX Acne Pimple Master Patch box of 4 sheets
I’ve been using the 3M Nexcare of these hydrocolloid patches and they work wonders – I’m hoping the CosRX work the same or better.
hauluary_2017_random_6
• Samples! Beauty Friends Tomato Essence Sheet Mask, Hanwoong Charcoal Nose Cleansing Strip, Lioele Fresh Sun Screen SPF45 PA++, Tony Moly The Hayan Cherry Blossom Whitening Cream, It’s Skin Power 10 Formula VC Effector, It’s Skin Power 10 LI Effector, Lioele Blooming Shimmer Pearl Base, Lioele Triple The Solution BB Cream SPF30 PA++, and another pack of Jolse Blotting Paper

Well.ca
hauluary_2017_random_7
• Cover Girl Outlast Stay Brilliant Nail Gloss in Being Blonde x2
I was on well.ca to buy some vitamins and saw that they carried this polish! I know I have stated in the past that I wouldn’t buy back ups of makeup but this nail polish is so. freaking good. Seriously, if you told me I could only wear one nail polish for the rest of 2017, I would choose this – that’s a bold statement! And yes, I promise to swatch this soon. 😛

Hudson’s Bay
hauluary_2017_random_8
• Butter London in Toff
The last straggler of the nail polish order I placed online. It was shipped individually in an enveloped (decently padded and this time a plastic envelope rather than a paper one)

Shoppers Drug Mart
hauluary_2017_random_9
• Physician’s Formula Butter Bronzer in Light Bronze – this costs $22 regularly and it was on sale for $15… but it rang up at the cash for only $10. Score!
• COLAB Volume Extreme Dry Shampoo in Tokyo x2 – another score, these were only $3, regularly they’re $12 each.

Rexall
hauluary_2017_random_10
• L’Oreal Peaceful Pink (Bohemian Beauty 2015 collection)
• L’Oreal Spice Things Up
• Essie Steal His Name (2016 Bridal collection)
These were in a basket in a sidewalk sale for $4 each.

Walmart
hauluary_2017_random_11
• CoverGirl Eye Enhancers in #260 Coffee Shop
Kristyn of The Lifeof Kristyn blog raved about this on Instagram so when I spotted it, I decided to give it a try. The gold colour looks especially interesting.

Winners
hauluary_2017_random_12
• Clarins 5-Colour Eyeshadow Palette 02 Pretty Night
• Anna Sui Nail Polish S008 Celadon Gray
• Max Factor Masterpiece MAX mascara
They had a bunch of Clarins 4 and 5 pan eye shadows but this one stood out the most to me. The Anna Sui polish is a bottle shape that I don’t have yet (plus, um, GREY polish). I think I’ll do a post to show the various bottle designs they’ve had. And I’ve not seen Max Factor products in Canada for years! I was shocked to find the mascara at Winners. I was tempted to pick up more than one but restrained myself just in case I hated the formula. 😛

Cloré Beauty Supply
hauluary_2017_random_13
Cloré Beauty is a store that caters mainly to women of colour – they carry a wide selection of hair extensions and hair care products, but they also stock makeup and nail polish so I decided to check them out. They have lots of brands that I’ve not seen before like Kiss New York and Ruby Kisses.

I was floored by the Kiss New York display! Just look at all the goodies. I succumbed to my ultimate weaknesses: eye shadows and nail polishes.
hauluary_2017_random_14
• Kiss New York Professional Single Eyeshadows in Insomnia, Geranium, Dahlias, African Violet
And because I like reading the fine print on makeup packaging, I noticed that the Kiss eye shadows are made in Korea! The brand offered some unique shades that swatched beautifully – pigmented and smooth. These were $3 each.
hauluary_2017_random_15
• Kiss New York Professional Gel Strong Nail Polish in KNP027 Champagne
• Ruby Kisses High Definition Nail Polish in HDP28 Mickey Mouse Me
hauluary_2017_random_16
• ICU Nail Lacquer in #37 Quartz and #31 Onyx
These ICU Nail Lacquers look so sleek and only cost $3 each. The shimmers are gorgeous – is photo doesn’t even do them justice – scroll back up at the group shot, the shimmers are more apparent from that angle.
hauluary_2017_random_17
• L.A. Colors Color Craze Gel Nail Polish in CNP761 Magical and CNP701 Frosting (clear)
I was doing my usual googling colours while standing at a makeup display routine and came across this post that made me immediately grab the shade Magical. I can’t wait to try it over a dark base like she did!
hauluary_2017_random_18
• China Glaze Holographic in When Start Collide, and Galactic Gray
These are from the 2013 Holographic collection – the holos are more subtle but against these darker colours, they work well.
hauluary_2017_random_19
• L.A. Girl Pro Conceal in Light Ivory
I’ve been wanting to try this concealer for ages but the only sources were online stores. It was really difficult to guess my shade based on online swatches. Thank goodness I was able to try these in person because the shade range runs dark – I had originally guessed that I might match the shade Creamy Beige (4 shades up from Light Ivory) – in reality, that would have been way too dark.

Yves Rocher
hauluary_2017_random_20
• After Sun Hydrogel SOS Mask
• Sensitive Végétal Soothing Mist
I stopped into a bricks and mortar YR store, enticed by a large red “clearance” sign at the front. These were $5 each – I didn’t know they carried sheet masks – this one is made in Korea so it’s probably like your typical Korean masks.
hauluary_2017_random_21
• 3 Detoxifying Teas Micellar Cleansing Water x5
Now I have sad sad news! I found out that Yves Rocher is discontinuing the 3 Detoxifying Teas Micellar Toner! 😥 This is my favourite micellar toner of all time! 😦 Why did they do this to me? I guess I should be used to this by now! So I stocked up. I think 5 bottles is enough – I wouldn’t want them to go bad on me. :/

Lastly, to end on a positive note, I did not purchase this but it was gifted to me by a reader of my blog, Jill Jacks! 😀
hauluary_2017_random_22
• Essence Pure Nude Highlighter
hauluary_2017_random_23
There’s a lot of hype about this highlighter and I made a comment somewhere on my blog that I’d been looking for this but couldn’t find it.  And sweet Jill contacted me on Instagram out of the blue one day to let me know that she had picked this up for me! That was so thoughtful and I was taken back – I was floored! 😮  In this day and age, it’s not often that someone goes out of their way like this. Thank you, Jill – your thoughtfulness really touched me! ❤  Please go follow Jill on Instagram! Also, my blogging pal Polished and Inspired just posted a review of this – go check it out. 🙂

…I’m totally lying, this is not the final post of Hauluary – I have 2 more shipments that I ordered in January that I’m still waiting on – I’ll post about them once they arrive! 😉

Have you tried any of the items I got?

  1. More nail polishes!!?! That Anna Sui one is pretty, it’s a kind of blueish grey it reminds me of one of my faves from Lottie London.
That Clarins palette looks pretty, I’ve never even looked at Clarins makeup before in store, sometimes their skincare but it’s a brand which doesn’t seem to appeal to me.
Going to keep my eyes peeled for that essence highlighter it looks pretty! Our range is very limited here with Essence, we seem to only have one or two of each type of product.

    1. I know, more nail polishes! 😳 I dug out the Lottie London polish you sent me and it’s in line to be worn! I can’t wait! 😀
I really like Clarins lip products but haven’t used a lot of their makeup – I have a couple of single eye shadows which are nice.
I’m surprised the Essence selection is limited there… but at least you have Catrice!

  2. I tried Kiss products loonggg time ago and I don’t recall if I liked it or not. I guess I’ll visit the Beauty Supply when I get the chance. You got some cute stuff!😍👏🏻

  3. I really, really want to know what you think of CosRX BHA Blackhead Power Liquid once you’ve given it a try!

Too bad about the YR Miceller toner water, but I find they do this all the time with their products! So many items that I’ve loved have been discontinued. Weird they would do this to the Miceller toner water though because it’s one of their best sellers (according to their website). Hopefully the 5 bottles should last you some time.

    1. I’m just finishing up the Paula’s Choice BHA 2% liquid right now and then I’m going to use the CosRX BHA. Although I really like the Paula’s Choice, I’ve heard the CosRX is even better!

It’s so odd the YR site isn’t showing the toner as discontinued… I wonder if maybe they’re going to just have it online only? Maybe… maybe it’s not discontinued? 😮

    1. Based on the testers, I can already tell that LA Girl Pro Conceal has some SERIOUS coverage! I’m also impressed by the wide colour selection. Collection concealer should take note and improve their shade range!
I’ve been using the Paula’s Choice BHA and AHA religiously but I’m curious to try other brands now. I’ve heard great things about CosRX.

  4. That LA colour in Magical is SO PRETTY! Love this haul, looks like you got some real bargains! And ouch, I did the conversion just now for the Colab dry shampoos….$12? So expensive! Good job for bagging a bargain on that!

    1. I wouldn’t have given that Magical shade another glance if not for the post showing how pretty it looks layered.
I think I have good luck with bargain hunting – I happened to be at the post office located inside the drugstore and saw those Colab dry shampoos on a clearance shelf. I wasn’t even “shopping” that day.

    1. Such a shame that Physician’s Formula isn’t more readily available where you are. I was shocked to see the brand when I was in Tokyo! It was really expensive there though.

    1. Maybe try Amazon? I understand how you feel… we don’t have lots of brands here in Canada. Sometimes they’re just in the US which is literally an hour away from us by car! 😛

    1. I know, right. I’m going to email the YR HQ to confirm if this is discontinued or not. It’s listed on their website and not in clearance there. I only heard it from the SA in the store… maybe they were just trying to make room in the store?

  5. Hauluary for sure! Last month really lived up to it’s name! So many nail polishes and so many gorgeous shades you chose, especially the Essie polish from the bridal collection and the Covergirl shade you bought two of! It’s got me intrigued 🙂 That’s so kind of Jill to send you the highlighter, it’s looks stunning and I can’t wait to see you post about it!

    1. I always gravitate toward those kinds of nail polishes from Bridal collections – I probably own so many similar shades already! 😛
Isn’t it so sweet of Jill to send me the highlighter? It’s amazing how the online community bring people together like this. 🙂

  6. The Anna Sui and ICU nail polishes look gorgeous and I’ve never tried either, so I eagerly await your swatches :] I would never have thought about trying Mary Kay’s hand care products, definitely need to check those out now! And yay about eliminating plastic beads!

    1. I’m such a slowpoke when it comes to swatching. I need to devise a better system for nail swatching. Might need to devote an afternoon and bang them out. 😛
My friend sells Mary Kay and that’s how I started out trying their products, like most brands, there are hits and misses. The hand care stuff is pretty good – it’s not often you find hand scrubs. I’ve been diligent in reading labels to avoid the plastic beads ever since I learned about them!

      Liked by 1 person

      1. Haha, no hurry! But if you find the secret to swatching quickly, please let us know :]

I have a friend that sells Mary Kay too, I’ll definitely look into their hand care stuff next time a catalogue comes my way. And that’s a good point, there are very few scrubs made specifically for hands.

  7. It’s the Hauluary that never ends!
The Blackhead & Whitehead Power liquid sound very intriguing…
Yay, you found backups of the Being Blonde polish! Those two ICU polishes are stunning, as is the LA Colours Magical shade. You always have such good taste in polishes, haha.
You always have such good luck at Winners. I was actually there this weekend and was so hopeful because of all your awesome hauls from there. Came out with nothing!
Even though you’re on a no-buy for the next two months, at least the influx of products should be more than enough to tide you over!

    1. I’ve been using Paula’s Choice BHA and AHA for ages but I’ve been hearing a lot about the CosRX line which offers essentially the same things at a much cheaper price. Fingers crossed they’ll work well for me.
I totally lucked out with those nail polish finds! I’m really excited to try those ICU polishes – I googled them but I’ve seen no swatches on them!
Oops sorry to get your hopes up for some Winners scores – I do think a lot has to do with the fact that there are no less than 4 Winners / Marshalls locations near me so I just rotate my visits. I’m bound to find something eventually, right? 😉
To be honest, I’m a bit overwhelmed with my Hauluary goodies – part of me wants to shove them in a box and forget about them until I get through my backlog but part of me wants to use them all FIRST! Like a LIFO method. 😆

      Liked by 1 person

      1. Wow, I can’t believe there aren’t any swatches for those ICU polishes. Would be super helpful to readers if you have the first swatches on the internets!
Haha, when we were in Toronto, I was amazed that there were so many Winners within walking distance from one another! They’re so spaced out here.
LOL! I never thought of it that way. It is SO hard to resist employing the LIFO method when you get new makeup.

  8. Wow! I can’t believe you are not done! LOL! I luuuv all the nail polishes! Can’t decide which one I like more! They’re all so pretty!!
Have you tried the MK primer yet or this the first time? That one got me a bit curious.
I have that Covergirl quad, it’s ok but nothing amazing in my opinion, the nude highlighter on the other hand, I want to marry it! Haha!

    1. I warned in my January accountability post that there would be more trickling through… 😛 Shipping from the US takes so long sometimes! I was surprised that the Jolse order didn’t take too long – only about 2 weeks.
I’ve not tried the MK primer before – I like that it contains SPF. I’ve read good thing about it. 🙂
Since I had such a good experience with the CoverGirl TruNaked palette, I decided to give the quad a try – we’ll see!
Haha… I wonder if the marriage would be legal? 😉 😛

      1. Well, that’s not gonna stop me! Haha!
I’ll definitely be looking forward to the primer review!
I hate how long international shipping takes too. Luckily I found a courier that takes between 5-10 days from Miami to Venezuela, and it only costs $2-3 per lb. I bet there must me something like that for Canada too!

  9. Wooooo that’s some massive haulage! And to think I started following your blog when you were on your no-buy 😀

I got one of those CosRX things last year, haven’t tried it yet. Of course.

Curious to see how you like the Kiss stuff!

    Liked by 1 person

    1. I’m really hoping my haulage will slow down for the rest of the year! I’ve run out of space to store my stuff and will need several more bins for the nail polishes! 😳 😛
I’ll probably not get around to trying the CosRX things until April-ish based on what I’ve got left but at least I got them on sale! 😉

      Like

  10. Hahaha! You mislead us! Hahaha! Looking forward to rest of the haul.
Is there a big price difference between the MaryKay finishing spray and the UD all nighter? I keep thinking there would be but when I do compare price per volume of product, it seems to come up to the same. And they’re all made by Skindinavia anyway….

    Liked by 1 person

    1. Well, these were paid for in January… shipping just takes forever to get here! 😛
I think you’re right – there’s really no price difference with the setting spray since it’s so common knowledge they’re made by the same company. I’m just curious if this would work better for me than the UD spray.

      Liked by 1 person

    1. Yup TheBalm is part of Hauluary but I had to wait for the shipment to arrive. I also have another shipment but I fear it is lost… I have to contact the company to find out what’s up! It’s been over 6 weeks…

  11. Can’t wait to see what you’d think of the Cosrx stuffs. I have read tons of other reviews, but stiLL can’t make up my mind on which ones to.. be prioritized. Or if I reaLLy shouLd buy them ^^;

  12. Does that Blackhead Power Liquid actually work? I’m looking for something to serve that exact purpose.

I really like that Steal His Name polish by Essie – so addicted to shades like that in the Summer.

    1. I shall see if the CosRX BHA Blackhead Power Liquid works. I’ve read really great reviews about it. I’m just finishing up my Paula’s Choice BHA liquid now and then I’ll try out the CosRX – stay tuned!
