Sephora VIB Sale Shopping List April 2017 Edition

I feel a sense of fatigue in general in the beauty community lately. I’ve never seen so many anti-hauls and declutters as I have recently. In years past, the most popular topics were hauls and beauty collection posts, but I’m now seeing a trend of the “resistance”.  Maybe it’s just my personal perspective – have you noticed?

Having said that, it’s time for the annual Springtime Sephora VIB sale! I finally received the discount card in the mail on Thursday:

It’s starting tomorrow, April 18th and runs until the 24th. I’ve been making these shopping lists for the past few Sephora sales. They’re helpful for me to keep me focused when all the pretties are distracting me. 😉

I haven’t stepped inside of a Sephora store since January! Last week I decided to stop in to see if anything jumped out at me (also, the new revamped Sephora site is annoying).  Here’s what I came up with:

100% Likelihood I’ll buy these:

Lavanila The Healthy Deodorant in Pure Vanilla – $17
My favourite non-aluminum deodorant.  One of these lasts me around 5 months and I’ll continue to replenish during VIB sales.

Farmacy New Day Gentle Exfoliating Grains – $40
I’m about to run out of my small bottle that Cat gave me, and I definitely want to get the full size. But it’s out of stock online right now… 😦  I hope they’ll be back in stock in time for the sale!

BITE Beauty Agave Lip Balm – $20
I got a chance to try this at the BITE Beauty Lip Lab on Friday and it is simply amazing.  And look at that sexy tube design.  Just take my money!

Sephora Collection Face Mask – $8 each
You know, I still haven’t tried the Sephora brand sheet masks – what kind of skincare addict am I?  I’m interested in Green Tea (based on Rachael’s recommendation) and Rose.

50% Likelihood I’ll buy these:

Sephora Favorites Give Me Some Nude Lip – $33
I pawed at this set back in January at the store and my friend bought it. I can’t stop thinking about it – you know what they say about waiting out on an impulse purchase… if you keep thinking about it, then you should just get it! 😉 (It didn’t help that Molly over at The Rosey Beauty Files just picked it up and is egging me on over on IG… I think this 50% chance is inching up to 75% chance that I’ll get this!)

Laura Mercier Caviar Stick Eye Colour in Amethyst -$35
I’ve been wanting more of these and I was reminded of it again from Ingrid.  This shade is pure perfection!

Ole Henriksen Truth Serum – $60
I loved the deluxe sample that I used up and vowed to get the full size. 🙂

25% Likelihood I’ll buy these:

Hourglass Ambient Lighting Powder in Dim Light – $52
I have a travel sized version of this (shown here) and I’d like to own the full sized version.  But, I don’t need it right this very moment so I might just hold off until the Fall sale.

Laura Mercier Translucent Loose Setting Powder – $47
Everyone raves about this! I need to know what the hype is about… I do still have a couple of jars of loose face powders to work first through. 😳

Buxom Full-On Lip Cream in White Russian – $24
So many rave about this formula and colour. It was sold out for ages and now it looks like Sephora has a steady stock of it.

NudeStix Gel Color Lip + Cheek Balm – $28
I’ve been curious about this Canadian brand. This gel version seems more hydrating than the original. I’m eyeing either the shade Pulse, Poshe, or Luxe.

Anastasia Beverly Hills Lip Gloss – $21
I’ve heard good things about these. They look really pigmented for a lip gloss. The shades I like are: Victorian, Kristen, and Metallic Rose.  Let’s see if I end up liking these more than the ABH eye shadows.

Surratt Artistique Cheek Brush and Face Brush – $125 and $250
Still drooling over these but I’ll wait until the Fall sale when the sale is 20% off.

Perricone MD No Foundation Foundation Serum – $74
This is so spendy but I’ve been curious about it for a while. I’m thinking this could replace my MAC Face & Body (spoiler alert, I’m rounding up some items for a purge).

Farmacy Honey Potion Renewing Antioxidant Hydration Mask – $75
This is more of a wintertime mask so I’ll wait until later this year.

Along with the discount card, the envelope contained this coupon:

I actually like the tote that they’re giving away this year so I might brave the crowds… 😮

My shopping list is pretty tame but it always seems to be the case for the Spring sale.  If history is any indication, I’ll not buy much now but will go hog-wild come November sale! 😉 What about you? Will you be hauling from Sephora during the VIB sale? Do you have your shopping list ready? Have you tried any of the items that I’ve listed – yay or nay?

Last Friday I was a guest of Cat’s at the BITE Beauty Lip Lab to create my own bespoke lipstick shades – stay tuned for a post on my experience coming up! 💄 ❤

  1. Get that lip set, as I want it and can live vicariously through you and Molly!
I’ve heard good things about the Laura mercier powder recently, I have a list on my phone going of stuff I want to test in store and that’s on the list!
I also like that repacked ole henriksen serum, I love that stuff too, definitely want to treat myself to the full size of that this year at some point!

    1. Yeah, I’m leaning more toward getting that lip set…
I almost didn’t recognize the Ole Henriksen serum until they showed the old vs new bottle. I was all set to get The Ordinary Vitamin C serum but it has mixed reviews (gritty texture and burning on the skin?).

    1. I always like to buy things that are unique to Sephora like those sets or the Sephora brand makeup during the sales. Makes them really good value! Enjoy shopping the sale! 🙂

  2. It’s funny you should mention beauty product fatigue, because there are only a very small handful of products that I’m interested in for this sale, and even if I can’t get my hands on them, I feel like I wouldn’t miss having them in my collection at all.

Was the Agave lip balm the same formula as the when it was in the tube packaging? I have too many Jack Black lip balms to justify buying it at the moment, but would be interested in getting it during the November sale.

I’m really interested in the Farmacy Honey Potion mask too since I loved Fresh’s honey mask too, except Farmacy’s is much cheaper!

I can’t wait to hear about your BITE Beauty Lab experience!

    1. Yeah, I also won’t feel too bummed if I don’t pick up everything on my list. Who knows. I’ve extended my discount to my friends again so I’ll be “hauling” for them.

The Agave lip balm in the stick form is totally different from the tube! I’ll tell you more about it when I write about the BITE lip lab experience! 😉

Oh I didn’t know that Fresh did a honey mask. I was surprised to see that Farmacy’s prices aren’t too crazy relative to other skincare lines at Sephora these days.

Have fun shopping the Sephora sale! 🙂

  3. I’ve never received a Sephora card in the mail! They only email me (I’m VIB, so sale starts on the 19th for us), and I literally just got it.

I have a little cart going at Sephora, but am unsure whether I’ll actually order anything. I really don’t need anything. Kinda want a Dior polish but seems lame to just order 1 thing 🙂 Esp if I have to pay for shipping.

The lip set looks great! I’d want it but I soooo do not need more lip stuff.

It’s definitely more tempting to wait for the fall 20% off sale, though I wonder if the ebates.ca discount will be good right now. That can just about make up the 5% difference!

    1. I felt that Sephora waited until the very last minute to send out the alerts this time around? Not sure if they’re trying to keep mysterious…? Also, I think it’s one week later than previous years.

The sales are the only times I shop at Sephora anymore.

Ebates usually drop their % during the VIB sales. So today it will look find but tomorrow it will be half that. They know! 😛

  4. The nudes lip set was a good buy! FYI, the Buxom gloss has got a strong menthol tingle which I personally hate. And now I want the Too Faced melted matte in another colour too… I like the Laura Mercier powder. I’ts very much like the Cover FX loose power I used to use. Since that one’s no longer available at SDM with Optimum points and for the same price I’ll likely stick with Laura Mercier since it just feels fancier 🙂 It also comes in a travel size.

    1. I’m glad to hear you enjoy that lip set. I sooooo wanted to buy it with you but I had bought so much during December already. I have a couple of Buxom glosses and didn’t hate the minty tingle. I typically don’t love them either (the worst is when it’s cold outside!)
Oh I didn’t know that CoverFX is not at Shoppers anymore. Too bad.

  5. I’ll be in the US on April 24th :-o. By that time all the good stuff may actually be gone. I do have a list of items I’d like to buy when I’m in the US, but since the house move is pretty much imminent later this year, I have to reel myself in anyway.

    Liked by 1 person

    1. Oh how exciting that you’ll be in the US at that time! At least try to see if they have anything you might want…. you may not end up buying but at least you’re prepared! 😉 A house is a very good reason for dialing back on the beauty spending…

  6. I havent purchased products at Sephora lately, probably because I enjoy buying the Limited Edition more than the products that are permanent in store.. but what im more excited about is the Jo Malone products that Sephora now carries. They are available online but it’s better than buying it outside Sephora site. I still want the Hourglass powder though, I might have to get the travel size one. It’s just so cute!👍🏻

    Liked by 1 person

    1. Sephora carries Jo Malone now?!! 😱 I just checked the Canadian site and we don’t have it… sniff sniff. Jealous!
Yes, the travel sized Hourglass is cute, and it will last a while!

      Liked by 1 person

      1. Yes, my jaw dropped when I got the email and I checked the mobile app and it’s up! I just wish they will carry it in stores too.

    1. Haha I always think it’s 20% off too but then reality hits. With the way the prices are at Sephora these days, the discount SHOULD be 20%! Then the Fall one should be 25% off! 😛 Have fun shopping – can’t wait to see what you get!

  7. The Sephora face masks are a must. I’ve tried 5 so far and liked all of them. ABH lips gloss….YES, although the shimmer shades are a little gritty. Nude Stix…always a good choice. Buxom…sticky but plumping. Laura Mercier is THE Setting Powder and same for Hourglass for highlighting. I love Ole Truth Serum and Bite Agave is in my wishlist (tested in store) very moisturizing. The Sephora favorites nude lip kit is on my list and You do have me thinking about Farmacy Dew Day!! Nice round up 👌🏻
I recently went to Sephora and the sales woman said “do you realize you have 2 accounts and if I combine them, you are well past VIB Rouge?” 😮 My husband was using an old account 😏

    Liked by 1 person

    1. Haha! That’s hilarious your hubs was using an old account. For a little while there I also had 2 separate accounts but neither was anything impressive.

Great, now you’ve validated my whole list which means I need to buy them all! XD Good to know about the sheet masks though – I’m definitely getting a couple. What do you have on your shopping list?

      Liked by 1 person

      1. I know, when I was trying NOT to make Rouge lol. Def get some masks, I think you will be surprised.
So far I have Marc Jacobs lip gloss, KVD mother of all mini lip set, maybe Laura Mercier’s lip gloss, but def her tinted moisturizer, Lashfood lash enhancer, I really want more from Farmacy too. That’s all I have so far. I’m really sick of dried out lips from all the mattes so I’m spending the summer with good old fashion lipstick or gloss. Lol

        Like

        1. Ooh tell me more about he Lashfood lash enhancer! I’m in need of a lash serum. I’m thinking of getting Latisse!
Yeah lip glosses / balms is the way to go for me all year round. Have fun shopping! 😀

          Liked by 1 person

          1. I received a sample of the Lashfood lash enhancer and used it religiously every night before bed and it works!!! My lashes were visibly longer. The downside is when you stop, your lashes stop 😕. I don’t have a problem using it everyday. Lol. Ulta actually has the mini set for $18 if you wanted to try it before spending $80 for the full size. I have to write a review on it.

  8. Great items Stash. Unfortunately, the LAVANILLA deodorant did not work for me. 😦 I’m curious about the Bite Agave Lip Balm though and the exfoliating grains. Yes, the Laura Mercier setting powder is great and the No Foundation serum is a must try. My picks will go up on the blog tomorrow. I’m only VIB so I have to wait one extra day.

    Liked by 1 person

    1. That’s too bad Lavanila didn’t work for you. Can you recommend a non-aluminum deodorant that you like? I’m curious to try more brands to see if I find better ones, or maybe even less expensive ones.
Looking forward to reading your shopping list! 🙂

      1. There’s one I tried that was fairly good, I just can’t remember the name. I think I follow them on IG so I will let you know. It’s not as great as conventional deo but it performed better than the Lavanilla one for me.

  9. i also feel that there is a lot of anti- haul going on in the beauty community! But this will not stop us from getting new things !
i also have the same feeling about the ‘ give me some nude lips set ‘ ! i always resist from buying it and then i say that i need it !

    Liked by 1 person

    1. I know… it’s a vicious cycle. Haul, declutter, anti-haul… rinse repeat! 😉
That set is such good value though… I can’t resist any more!

  10. I’m currently on a no-but but I might use my discount to get another bottle of the Cinema Secrets brush cleaner. Love that stuff.

Oh I love the ABH glosses. I have 2 of Kristen – one full size I keep at home and a travel size I got as a GWP at Ulta that I keep in my makeup bag in my purse.

    Liked by 1 person

    1. Well, I think replacing brush cleaner should be ok even in a no-buy. You’re replenishing something, not just shopping for new stuff. That’s how I view it.

I think I saw you raved about the ABH glosses. I’ve seen almost all good reviews for them so that’s why I’m tempted!

  11. After trying a farmacy sampler kit, I’m now obsessed with the brand. I love their stuff! I think my haul will be quiet tame this time – I’m like you and seem to favour the fall version of the sale.

I’ll probably stick to mainly skincare items. I’m a fan of the ole henriksen serum you mention, too! Ooooh and the agave lip stuff is in my cart also. There is a pricey tatcha Harper moisturizer that I’m looking to try (can’t remember the name but it’s in my cart lol). You won’t regret picking up on of the Sephora masks – they’re REALLY a joy to use.

Hopefully everything is in stock when you order! x

    1. I placed an order this morning and that Farmacy Grains was in stock – yay!
I’m tempted to try a bunch of skincare stuff but I need to finish what I have first!
I find the skincare brands at Sephora to be getting more and more pricey and I’m unsure about their efficacy. I keep hearing about Tata Harper and Sunday Riley but I can’t behind those brands – they’ve built such a branding around themselves but the ingredients aren’t that impressive? I’ll eventually try them through samples I suppose, just to be informed but I don’t think I’ll be indulging any time soon. Slowly, I’m moving more and more toward Asian skincare, especially Korean and Japanese. They’re still fair priced and have good ingredients too.

  12. I suspect the sense of fatigue is the fact that we’re just bombarded with new products on a daily basis and now that the market is oversaturated, there’s not much that’s unique out there anymore, at least makeup-wise. I’d be nice if companies would just scale back a little and make the products that they do release fantastic. But what do I know? 😉

Great shopping list! I’ve got White Russian on my list too but it’s a for certain purchase for me. That caviar stick looks gorgeous!

    Have fun shopping!

    1. Yes, the amount of new releases is making my head spin. I honestly don’t even have time to research if any of the products are any good before they’re sold out and the next limited edition release is out.

Will you be indulging in the Sephora sale?

    1. What was the one you got at the One of a Kind show? Was it any good?
I noticed that Sephora reduced the scents that are available in Canada now with the Lavanila. Now they’re saying they can’t ship them to Canada. Makes no sense.

  13. YOU need the Caviar Stick !!!! (I’m at it again😜 … Ingrid the enabler)
Nudestyx Cheek + Lip balm isn’t that great … very drying on the lips and for the cheeks their is far better options like my favorite MUFE HD Blush.
I was super disappointed at the products (mostly colors) in the Sephora Give Me Some Nude Lip set 👎🏻
Have you seen the new Sephora Collection Pro Essentials Brush Set ??? Beardman bought it for me yesterday and this is such a deal … The Surratt brushes are so nice but $$$$$ like hell.
You might want to consider Marc Jacob glosses, in my personal taste they are way better than ABH!
Great list my friend … and YES I’ve noticed a resistance trend too !!!👏🏻

    1. I am going to wait until Fall sale to get that LM Caviar stick. I am doing some declutter and I think by then I can justify getting more cream eye shadows! 😉
Ooh good to know about NudeStix – these are the gel formula which I heard is better?
Uh oh, I pulled the trigger on that Sephora Give Me Some Nude Lip set…. 😳
I saw on your blog that BM got you that Sephora set! I think I’m going to phase out synthetic brushes from my stash though – I just don’t find they blend as nicely as real hairs. That’s why I want those Surratt ones so badly… 😛
Oh I haven’t heard much about the MJ glosses. I will have to go smell them! Thanks for all of your input on my list!!!

  14. Amazing list!! Not buying anything since I’m it VIB haha… I feel like VIB Rouge is so far away even though I know people who have that status. I’m hoping to make it to VIB by the fall sale. 🙂

    Liked by 1 person

    1. I am only Rouge because I pool together order from my friends! 😛 In fact, I achieved Rouge status in 2015 when I was on a NO BUY! 😆
I hope you make VIB by Fall, that means you’ll get 20% which is totally worth it!

      1. I picked it up yesterday and used it for the first time last night. I’m surprised how long it lasts on the lips! And I like that it doesn’t really have a flavor.

  15. Great selection of products and I just wonder why you have ordered laura mercier loose powder and hourglass ambient in 25% likelihood and I think this is the best chance to grab a great bargain with VIB, isn’t it?

    Liked by 1 person

    1. I won’t get them right now simply because I’ve got other face powders I have to finish first! There is another Sephora sale in Autumn time which is even higher discount. So I will wait for that sale, that’s why I only put 25% likelihood for now! 😉
