Trash Stash: May 2017

This month was the month of finishing up a lot of facial skincare:

I finished both my day and night creams, plus a bunch of other essential face product. So weird how that happens.

Skincare

Shiseido Bio-Performance Advanced Super Revitalizing Cream – $94 for 50ml
This is my HG nighttime face cream especially for winter months. This jar lasted me 4 months with nightly use. I don’t have a back-up jar of this at the moment and I’ll be trying out other night creams from my stash next.
Stash worthiness: 10/10     Repurchase: Yes

MAC Studio Moisture Cream – $40 for 50ml
I did a review of this cream here. This surprised me with how well it worked as either a nighttime or a daytime moisturizer. I ended up using it as a daytime moisturizer for 2/3 of the tub since it contains caffeine too. I’ll be saving this container for Back to MAC!
Stash worthiness: 9/10     Repurchase: Yes

MUJI Sensitive Skin High Moisture Toning Water – $10 for 200ml
I use this to mist my face every morning after cleansing and before I apply any skincare. It contains hyaluronic acid and glycerin which are really moisturizing on the skin and acts like a primer. It’s a fantastic no frills product and so affordable too! One of my best discoveries from 2016.
Stash worthiness: 10/10     Repurchase: Yes

Shiseido Benefiance Extra Creamy Cleansing Foam – $47 for 125ml
This is my favourite morning face cleanser. I need such a tiny amount that this tube lasted me nearly 6 months, no joke! Well worth the money.
Stash worthiness: 10/10     Repurchase: Yes

Rimmel Gentle Eye Makeup Remover – $8 for 125ml
This is a good basic eye makeup remover. I like it a lot because it is indeed very gentle and doesn’t irritate my eyes. Where this falls short for me and a lot of other people is its claim that it can remove waterproof mascaras. No, it cannot! I use this after I use my oil cleanser which does the heavy lifting and removes about 75% of my eye makeup first. The Rimmel is to remove the leftover residue.
Stash worthiness: 8/10     Repurchase: Yes

Avene YsthéAL Anti-wrinkle Emulsion – $50 for 30ml
This was my first foray into “baby retinol” as this contains Retinaldehyde which is much more gentle form of retinol. I used this primarily on my laugh lines and sometimes under my eye area. It’s quite greasy feeling so it’s only for nighttime use.  I did notice a reduction in fine lines using this product consistently.  A little bit goes a long way – based on the label I wrote on the bottle, I’ve been using this since April 2015! 😮
Stash worthiness: 9/10     Repurchase: Yes

Antipodes Joyous Protein-Rich Night Replenish Serum – $53 for 30ml
I reviewed this here along with a few other Antipodes skincare items. This a nice oily serum for the cold dry winter months. It’s got a distinctly smell of steamed kale or broccoli but I don’t hate the smell. I mostly used this on my cheeks and it does take about 15 minutes for the oil to sink into the skin – I think it’s most suitable for dry skin types. The disappointing thing with this was the packaging – the rubber portion of the eye dropper topper started disintegrating, leaving black rubbery residue all over and the glass tube fell out.
Stash worthiness: 7/10     Repurchase: Maybe

C.O. Bigelow My Favorite Night Balm Lip Treatment – $8 for 10ml
Funny how this is named because it’s not my favourite night lip treatment – I’d say it’s maybe my 3rd favourite though. I much prefer the C.O. Bigelow Supreme 2X Lip Shine (broken record, I know) over this since it has better longevity. But, I will say this one is very good and lasts better than your average lip balm. It has a light vanilla scent and isn’t sticky or waxy at all.
Stash worthiness: 9/10     Repurchase: Yes

Nip + Fab Lip + Nip Fix Multi-purpose Balm
This is straight up lanolin and I think it’s meant to be for nipples as well… it’s super thick and I always had a challenge squeezing this out of the tube. But it’s a pretty good overnight lip treatment. I didn’t care for the smell – kind of like a barn. I think it’s discontinued now though.
Stash worthiness: 7/10     Repurchase: No

The Lip Scrub by Sara Happ in Clemintine – $24 USD for 30g
I received this as a gift and my eyes popped out of their sockets at the price of this! I do love it though and named it as one of my favourites late last year. The sugar granules are a bit larger than the LUSH lip scrubs, and I found this a bit more effective. Also, the smell of this is so true to the actual fruit. This jar lasted me about 8 months which I feel like sorta justifies the cost? But I am just going to DIY my own next – I’m going to try out Sandra’s recipe using sugar and coconut oil.
Stash worthiness: 9/10     Repurchase: Maybe

L’Action Cosmetique Wrinkle Reducer Hydrogel Patches
I bought these were on clearance from Rexall ages ago and they are useless. The patches were just paper and were dried out so I reconstituted them but they did nothing to my under eye area at all.
Stash worthiness: 1/10     Repurchase: No

REN Glycol Lactic Radiance Renewal Mask – $68 for 50ml
This came in a kit and I took a bunch of photos thinking I’d review the kit but got too ambivalent about it that I decided not to dedicate a post to them. This mask had huge hype awhile back and I was kind of expecting miracles from this but it’s just ok. Maybe my tolerance for AHA products has increased ever since I use the Paula’s Choice 10% AHA Weekly Resurfacing liquid, but I don’t find this REN mask to outperform that product. It smells like honey and oranges which I liked. The texture is quite gooey, like honey mixed with fruit puree. There’s slight tingling but nothing painful. I use 2 pumps of this product to cover to face, and I only got 8 uses out of this tube. That means it cost me close to $8.50 per use! 😮 I will say that the packaging is excellent – the product is in a nearly vacuum seal with a little cap for the nozzle. As far as an AHA mask goes, I actually prefer the Andalou Pumpkin Honey Glycolic Mask over this.
Stash worthiness: 7/10     Repurchase: Maybe

LUSH Catastrophe Cosmetic Fresh Face Mask – $8.95 for 60g
My review of this product is here. This is my 2nd LUSH Fresh Face Mask and I like it slightly more than my first one, the The Sacred Truth Mask. The biggest challenge with these masks is their short shelf life, but I’m going to try freezing individual portions with the next mask I try from LUSH, as recommended by both Mrs Strawberry Blonde and Thoughtful Pigeon.  I’ll be saving this empty container to redeem for a free mask.
Stash worthiness: 8/10     Repurchase: Yes

Body Care

Lavanila Vanilla Coconut Deodorant – $17 for 50g
This is my favourite scent of this deodorant that I’ve tried so far! And of course, now I see that Sephora doesn’t carry it anymore. I reviewed the Grapefruit version here.
Stash worthiness: 9/10     Repurchase: Yes

The Body Shop Chocomania Beautifying Oil – $16 for 100ml
I like these TBS dry oils and have tried just about every scent they have. This Chocomania one smells amazing initially – like a deep dark cocoa smell – but when it dries down, it’s more like a baby powder smell. So odd. I got this for $5 on clearance so no big loss.
Stash worthiness: 6/10     Repurchase: No

NuWorld Botanicals Energy Boost Whipped Borage Oil Hand & Foot Butter – $18 for 120g
I listed this in my favourites last quarter – it’s a great non-greasy hand and foot cream. Contains natural ingredients like shea butter, coconut oil and jojoba oil. It has great staying power on the skin – I mostly use this at night and I wake up with soft skin.
Stash worthiness: 9/10     Repurchase: Yes

Vaseline Healthy Conditioning Hand and Nail cream – $6 for 96ml
I used this on my hands and feet for a couple of weeks before realizing it didn’t provide sufficient hydration to them. So I used this up as a body lotion. Pretty small tube to use as a body lotion! I also not a fan of how this smells – like cheap public washroom hand soap mixed with peppercorn.
Stash worthiness: 3/10     Repurchase: No

Neutrogena Ultra Sheer Dry Touch sunscreen SPF 110 – $16 for 88ml
This is my go-to body sunscreen – I know most people say that there’s really no additional benefits of having a higher SPF beyond 50. But I like to give 110%! 😛 I like that this isn’t too greasy and doesn’t leave too much of a white cast.
Stash worthiness: 9/10     Repurchase: Yes

Jergens Natural Glow Foaming Daily Moisturizer in Medium to Tan – $15 for 150g
This is a good basic self tanner. It’s that time of the year again where I have to self tan my legs as a public service activity. No one needs to be exposed to such paleness! The Jergens provides a gradual natural looking tan and doesn’t smell too terrible. I only use this once a week to maintain my tan. I used to use their gel formula but I find the mousse version to dry down faster so I don’t have to stand around pant-less for longer than socially acceptable. 😳
Stash worthiness: 8/10     Repurchase: Yes

Bath and Body Works Waikiki Beach Coconut Hand Soap with Coconut Milk – $18 for 394ml
I’ve decided to include hand soaps on my Trash Stash regularly since hands are part of my body and I already include hand creams! 😉 I bought a few of these awhile ago and was surprised to see the hand soap had turned BROWN (it used to be a light green – see how it looked originally here). I learned that vanilla extract used in skincare can turn brown over time but it doesn’t affect the product – which turned out to be the case here – the hand soap smelled fine and performed well. I love this formula – it’s quite moisturizing and smells amazing! It was limited edition but I’d definitely buy more of BBW re-releases them again. I have one more unopened bottle shown here.
Stash worthiness: 9/10     Repurchase: Yes

Skinfood Mint Sparkling Foot Peeling Socks x2 – $5.50 USD each pack
I got these off jolse last year to try as I’d read some good reviews online. Unfortunately, my experience with these were less than stellar. Firstly, the booties themselves are made of a crinkly cellophane material, rather than a soft plastic that other foot peels use. It was very uncomfortable to wear. Also, there are no ties at the top of the booties so there’s no way to secure them – the risk of leaking was high. The only good thing was that the booties come with the liquid already inside, so there’s no need to pour the liquid from a pouch into the booties. Finally, the peel wasn’t effective at all. Both my SO and I used these and typically he experiences amazing peeling (we’ve used Holika Holika, FaceShop and TonyMoly so far – our favourite is Holika Holika). We soaked our feet every night after using this without any peeling and ended up having to use the Mont Bleu glass foot file to remove the skin instead. At least these aren’t expensive. I’m curious to try Etude House ones next.

Hair Care

Joico Ice Hair Finisher Shaping Hair Spray – $16.95 for 300ml
The nozzle got clogged often (ran it under hot water and it was ok again) which was a pain. I also found this to leave a crunchy feel to my hair which I don’t like.  At least I didn’t pay full price for this – found this in a clearance section of the TBBS hair supply place.
Stash worthiness: 5/10     Repurchase: No

La Cové BioSebum Scalp Relief Shampoo – $24 for 250ml
I bought a bottle of this to try out since it was $0.99 on clearance. I don’t love the smell because it contains tea tree oil (plus neem oil), but it is so effective to help battle my scalp itchiness during winter months that I went back and bought up their remaining stock. I’ve been working away at my stash for a couple of years now. I think I have one more bottle left. I believe this product is long discontinued as a Google search yield zero results. All I know is that it’s made in Italy and has a pH of 6.0 (which I’m assuming is good?)
Stash worthiness: 7/10     Repurchase: No

Tigi Bed Head Foxy Curls Extreme Curl Mousse – $17.49 for 250ml
Also grabbed this from the clearance section of the TBBS for $6.99. I ended liking this a lot though, and listed in my favourites recently. This can lasted quite a while since I only needed a small amount each time. It creates great hold for my waves. The best part? It smells like banana Runts!  I would even pay full price for this.
Stash worthiness: 9/10     Repurchase: Yes

Miscellaneous

Saje Liquid Sunshine – $16.95 for 10ml
Finally! I’m finished a bottle of diffuser room oil. This was the first oil I got for my nebulizer, which was a Christmas present from my SO. It’s a refreshing blend of citrus scents and a hint of bergamot. My only issue is the packaging – I had to shake really hard to get the oil to dispense through the opening. I wished it was in a dropper instead.
Stash worthiness: 9/10     Repurchase: Yes

Bath Body Works Vanilla Snowflake 3 Wick Candle – $25
I got this last winter and I almost didn’t want to burn it since they didn’t re-release it this winter. It’s a mixture of vanilla, mint and coconut – such a lovely sweet and creamy scent! The throw on this is pretty strong too. I also really liked the etched design on the lid.  I never ever pay full price for candles from BBW, they constantly have coupons and promos on them.
Stash worthiness: 9/10     Repurchase: Yes

Makeup

Physician’s Formula Eye Booster 2-in-1 Lash Boosting Eyeliner + Serum in Deep Brown – $15 for 0.5ml
This is one of my favourite eyeliner pens. It has a brush tip which I prefer over the felt-tip type of pens.

This liner is made in Japan and I think Japanese brands offer the best liquid liners out there. I love that this is available in brown!  I hardly ever wear black liners for day to day use.  This liner lasted me around 9 months with nearly daily use.
Stash worthiness: 10/10     Repurchase: Yes

Etude House Dr. Mascara Fixer Volume Up Curl Fix – $7 for 6ml
My HG mascara primer. It holds a curl, helps mascara stay put, and is inexpensive. I stocked up on a bunch not long ago.
Stash worthiness: 10/10     Repurchase: Yes

The Body Shop Powder Foundation Brush – $26
Look at it!  This is one of my favourite kabuki brushes to apply my face powders.  It picks up powders well and buffed into the skin smoothly. It washed up easily.  As you can see, the bristles has completely come out of the metal base – this happened when I was washing it.  I went to shake out the excess water and the whole thing fell out!  I got this on clearance for $5 when TBS was rebranding from “Nature’s Minerals” to “Extra Virgin Minerals”.  I’ve had this brush for probably 7 years so I’m not too mad.  Plus, I’ve got a few back-ups of this brush in my stash.
Stash worthiness: 9/10     Repurchase: Yes

Sample / Travel Size

Cetaphil Gentle Skin Gleansing Cloths x3 – I raved about this last month. I will be getting full size of these when I’m done the individual samples.

MAC Fix+ Sized to Go (30ml) – I got this awhile back to bring on weekend trips. I never seem to finish this while away so I finally finished it at home. I really like the nozzle on this so I will keep the bottle to refill with other facial mists.

Smashbox Full Exposure Mascara – good volumizing mascara but slightly clumpy and quite smudgy on me.

Clinique High Lengths Mascara – disliked the floppy wand and the formula is so lame – tiny bit of length and absolutely no volume.

Clinique High Impact Mascara – quite clumpy but did deliver on volume and decent length. However, it weighs down my lashes and uncurls them, and it smudges.

Buxom Lash Mascara – this is a fantastic mascara – reminds me a lot of CoverGirl LashBlast Volume – a bit less volumizing but more lengthening. This is one rare occasion where I contemplated buying a non-drugstore mascara. But it’s $25 for the full size – I guess I’ll stick to my CG instead.

Shiseido Perfect Defining Volume Mascara x3 – I tried this out again after reviewing it here. The formula is really good but the stench is so bad that I had to stop.  It smells like burnt industrial strength paint stripper. I’m also tossing out the rest of the samples that I’ve collected.

Fekkai Shea Butter Moisturizing Shampoo and Conditioner – smells amazing  (shea and jasmine) and makes my hair feel very soft and full looking.

This Works Reviving Shampoo – I really liked the smell of this – like lemongrass and ginger. Made my hair feel clean without stripping it.

Molton Brown Indian Cress Purifying Shampoo – another nice smelling shampoo (jasmine and honeysuckle) that makes my hair bouncy and not weighed down.

The Body Shop Glazed Apple Shimmer Lotion – this is the last piece of the set that I used up last month. This smells amazing but holy cow, the amount of shimmer in this lotion makes me look like I’m ready to go clubbing. And the shimmer gets on everything – clothes, purse, desk, computer… ugh.

Drum roll please, for the month of May, I finished 30 full sized and 15 sample / travel size items for a total of 45 items! 😀  I exceeded my goal of one empty per day!

I’ve decided that for the month of June, I’m going to embark on a masking challenge: a face mask every single night!  I’ll likely devote a post at the end of June to provide my thoughts on the experience. So for SURE I’ll hit 30 empties at minimum for June! 😉

Have you tried any of the products I’ve used up?  What beauty products have you finished recently?

    1. Hey did you migrate your blog to another url?! When did this happen! I don’t think it migrated my follow to the new site. I’ll follow your new blog now!
Yes, I can totally understand that the Lavanila won’t be effective in hot HOT weather. I suspect that I might need to resort to antiperspirants in the summer months. I don’t want to stink!
Bath & Body Works is having their semi-annual sale now! You might be able to snag some Waikiki Beach Coconut or their new At the Beach line (they smell almost the same to me!) for 75% off!

      1. yeah! I switched over to a self hosted blog on wordpress.org. I thought my posts would still show up on here but they don’t! It was when I first did it but for some reasons it’s not anymore. Yeah I’m definitely picking it up at the sale! ❤

  1. LMAO at the Body Shop brush! But yeah 7 years is not bad, and $5 to boot!

BTW I think you need to fix the price/vol of the CO Bigelow lip balm! That’s a hella expensive lip balm 😉

I hate those rubber droppers that disintegrate. I bought this big bottle of rosehip oil, not even halfway through and the rubber cap broke in two pieces. I keep sticking it back on LOL. Think I’ll just toss it soon. Only buying small (30 mL max) dropper bottles from now on.

I like that Neutrogena sunscreen, too – but 110SPF! Wowza. What’s that, like 99.9999% protection?

I have actually done pretty well the last couple months in terms of finishing stuff up! I mean, not as good as you 😀 but still.

    1. Thanks for letting me know about the CO Bigelow lip balm price LMAO! You can see I copy and paste things haha.. XD

This is the first time I’ve experience rubber disintegrating like that! Ugh how annoying. I will keep that in mind to stick with smaller bottles, in case.

Well basically, I think the 110 SPF lasts just slightly longer before having to reapply. But I’m paranoid so I keep slathering that stuff on all the time.

Yay for finishing up stuff! 😀

      1. I think the rubber issue is mainly a thing when the product is oil-based, since oil tends to dissolve rubber. So maybe it’s fine with products that are water-based!

Yeah I copy my posts ALL the time. Often end up with little snippets about other brands hidden somewhere in my posts, hehe. Oops.

And yes I hate having to reapply sunscreen on my face. I just got a spray sunblock to try it out over my makeup.

        1. Have you considered loose powder sunscreens for touch-ups? I had a powder sunscreen last year which I brought on my vacations – it was fantastic for touch ups. It’s like mineral makeup, basically. I received as a gift and now I can’t find it anywhere to replace it! It’s not cheap though…
          https://www.colorescience.com/products/sunforgettable-mineral-sunscreen-brush-spf-50
I saw that Peter Thomas Roth carries one but it’s not sold in Canada.

              1. It’s just a regular loose powder with sunscreen. Oh it actually already came – the Holika x2 loose powder – I think I posted it? Naked Face. There’s a regular one but I got the illuminating powder. It’s SPF26. Thinking of getting a pressed one just for portability, though.

  2. RIP The Body Shop Powder Foundation Brush, breaks my heart when they go out like that 🙂 lol It had a good life though 🙂 I really want to try Etude House Dr. Mascara Fixer, it sounds amazing!

    1. I haven’t had such a dramatic death of a brush like this before! I was both shocked and delighted at the same time. My SO thought I’d gone mad when I started laughing and showing him the brush. It looked a little bit like a paw… 😛
Yes, try that lash primer, it’s sooooo good!

  3. Wow. You’ve emptied out a lot! I’m just starting to use up a lot of what I got. Lol. And wow, that TBS brush! Wow. Well you’ve got to give it props for popping out of the base still looking intact. Hahaha

    Liked by 1 person

    1. I’m on a mission to finish as much as possible this year!
Yes that TBS brush stayed completely intact although separated from the base. If I really wanted to, I could have tied an elastic around the base and continue to use it! XD

    1. Thanks I’m glad you enjoy these posts! I just focus on using one of that type of product at a time, like, I don’t have 3 face creams open at a time. I think face creams last me around 3-4 months so it’s a cycle where I just end up using them all up at the same time! 😛

  4. OMG, how much stuff did you empty?!

And there are so many 9 and 10 stars products! Awesome!

“cheap public washroom hand soap mixed with peppercorn” – hahahah!!

A deep dark cocoa smell turning into a baby powder smell? Boo!

In regards to the TBS brush… I was about to say “use nail glue to glue the entire mop (yeah, I call it “mop”) back into the base” – but of course of you have back-up brushes…

And thanks for the mention. xx
I can’t wait to hear about your mask-freezing experiments. I know, I need to be patient, but that’s OK. I can wait. If there’s one thing a sale shopper like myself is good at, it’s being patient. 🙂

Thanks for mentioning the MB nail files again. I meant to comment on the post (and on the cushion foundation post as well!!!), but my browser crashed (too many tabs, what else?) and, as always, I forget about 90% of the tabs I have open… But I’ll get back to you later. My husband’s ogling the caramel ice cream… so I need to prepare dinner. Otherwise there won’t be any ice cream for me! 😀

    1. I know, I even surprised myself when I counted up everything! I wish I was doing your banking system – I would be able to shop quite a bit! 😛
Many of the skincare items are my staple ones – I am less inclined lately to try new skincare since my skin has been acting up. Tried and true!
Yes I momentarily toyed with gluing that brush back as I would typically do if only the ferrule and handle came off, but this was the bristle portion so I didn’t think I could do a good job to glue the whole thing. Plus, like you said, I’ve got back ups!

Ooh ice cream. My SO’s favourite ice cream is called Moose Tracks. They’re bits of peanut butter cups with chocolate swirls in vanilla ice cream:

  5. Wow! That’s a lot of stuff you used, I’m impressed. I finally saw Physicians Formula products when I was away and I had no idea what to buy! I remembered you mentioning it as a good brand though😊 I also saw a lot of Shiseido, so next time I go away I’ll be asking you what to buy☺ xx

    1. Oh yay, you’re back! Your vacation looked amazing! 😀
Haha, I’m similar to you when I travel and I encounter brands I’ve heard about, usually I don’t know what to buy and I get overwhelmed (unless I’ve done a load of research in advance). I have a select few tried and true Shiseido products that I always go back to – that night cream and the face wash, I just love them so much!

    1. We encourage each other! I think June won’t be as many empties since I’ve had to open all new skincare items so those will take me a few months to work though. Good luck with yours!

  6. I’m so impressed! You finished so, so many products and seems like you had a lot more positives going on than negatives! (So many 9s!)

Haha I have a peeling foot mask thing that I need to use which I bought from TK Maxx a few months ago out of curiosity but I’ve been putting it off because the booties need to be on for 90 minutes! Is that standard or? 😮

    Liked by 1 person

    1. A lot of the skincare of my tried and true ones so that’s why so many positive ratings!

Yes, the peeling type of foot masks typically need to be on between an hour and 90 minutes! I was put off at first but if you’re watching tv or online in the evenings, that time will fly by. 🙂

  7. That happens to me too – most of my skin care tends to run out at the same time.
That BBW Coconut Soap sounds fab.
I imagine walking into a BBW store would be a delight for the sensors? I can just imagine it smelling great.
Looking forward to your mask challenge 🙂

    1. I think it’s difficult to break the cycle of finishing all my skincare at once since I’ve just opened all new skincare and likely they will finish around the same time. 😛
Yes, a BBW store really is a delight for the senses! I find BBW not quite as strong smelling as a LUSH store. BBW is more on the sweet side, which is what I like!

  8. Oh wow, sounds like a great bunch of empties! It always makes me feel happy for you when you rate the products in these posts so highly, it reaffirms to me that you’re so knowledgeable about beauty and how much I trust/value your thoughts. That MAC studio moisturiser sounds good, a store in NZ recently started selling MAC products online so I might consider trying the 30ml size for $25 once I’ve finished the Kiehl’s I won in your giveaway! I like the idea of the shimmer body lotion but not if the glitters gets EVERYWHERE. Sorry to hear about your poor kabuki brush but glad to hear you’ve got backups 🙂 Well done on hitting your target!

    1. Thank you! I’m so glad you trust my thoughts! I can only speak from my experience and for my skin type – I know that everyone is different. A lot of what I finished this month were staples that I can’t live without! 🙂 I hope you’ll like the MAC cream if you do get to try it – I think the price is very fair. How did you like the Kiehl’s cream, by the way?
I actually quite liked the effect of the shimmer lotion – I just wished the shimmer stayed on my skin! 😛

      1. I think for the full sized version in NZ it’s $72.00. You could buy three 30ml tubes for the same price and end up with nearly double the product! 😲

I really like the Kiehl’s cream, I use it as my night moisturiser and it hydrates my skin extremely well!

        Liked by 1 person

  9. Wow! You seriously have so many empties! Is this the most you’ve used up in a month?

I stumbled upon the Muji Store at Yorkdale and was super excited to pick up the cut cotton pads you reviewed a bit ago but now I wish I also got the toner! I should have probably guessed it was a popular product because it practically devoured the beauty section. It was everywhere! That store is amazing BTW! I discovered it through you, so thanks!

I’m a fan of brown liners myself so I am going to give the Physicians Formula liner a try the next time I stop by the drug store. I love brush tip liners although I’ve only tried a handful of them so this will be good to switch up in my makeup collection.

Where do you get Dr. Fixer?

Looking forward to your masking challenge!

    Liked by 1 person

    1. Isn’t MUJI so great? I hope you’ll like the cotton! They have so many types I wasn’t sure which one to get!

Watch out for those 40% off sales for Physicians Formula to pick up the eyeliner. I never pay full price for their stuff since I find them ridiculously overpriced for a drugstore brand! 😛

I got the Dr. Fixer off Jolse before but I think they’ve restricted shipments to Canada now. 😦 I just googled it and THIS listing came up on Amazon:

$1.45 but with $9.45 shipping – however if you have Amazon Prime, that would be a STEAL!
      Alternatively, try roseroseshop:
      https://www.roseroseshop.com/etude-house-dr-mascara-fixer.html
(it’s the pink one with the straight wand, the curved wand one has nasty thick black fibers / hairs in it, so gross)

      1. MUJI is amazing! Such a fantastic store – I love their stationary section too. The cotton is super good – it is what I’ve been using the last few days and you were right so comparable to Shiseido.

I’ll keep my eye out for sure – maybe even pay attention to my shoppers app for an upcoming sale

I have Amazon Prime so I’m ordering two of the mascaras ASAP!!! 😂

        1. I love the MUJI stationary section – so dangerous to pick up all the pens! 😆 I’m so glad you like the cotton! It’s not exactly as soft as Shiseido but the MUJI is 68% cheaper so I can live with that! 😛

Ooh you have Amazon Prime, then you’ll save a ton on the lash base then! Normally I pay around $5 when they go on sale. 🙂

    1. Yes that Physicians Formula liner lasts a LONG time! Although, I don’t do a thick line with it. I just like to darken the base of my lashes mostly.
      Yup I have back-ups of a lot of stuff… it’s silly! 😛

  10. I’m like you with SPF containing products, except I’d purchase it if it’s above 30. I have the Lavanila deodorant in Grapefruit and I love it! I’ve been alternating it with another natural deodorant so it lasts longer. That’s too bad it’s not available there anymore.

    1. I’m glad you like the Lavnila deodorant – out of the 6 or so natural ones I’ve tried, it’s my favourite in terms of formula and effectiveness. May I ask which other natural deodorant you’re using? I”m always game to try new ones. 🙂

      1. Sorry for the delayed reply. I’m alternating that one with another brand called Native (it’s made here in the Bay Area). I also heard that Schmidt’s is another good brand, but not sure if that’s available in Canada.

        1. I did try Schmidt’s but I didn’t care for it – the stick was very gritty and irritated my skin, and I didn’t find it as effective as the Lavanila. I’m always game to try new ones though!

  11. Wow that’s ALOT of empties!!! I’m liking the sound of the ‘baby retinol’ … I use the Ordinary advanced retinoid and am curious of where to start with an actual retinol….I’m not sure how the retinoid compares to a low dose retinol…think i need to investigate 😋 Great post xx

    1. I was reading some blogs on the vitamin A conversion process (vitamin A = retinol) and learned some of the technical aspects of it, and that’s how I came across Retinaldehyde. Did you find The Ordinary retinoid to have any side effects like redness and peeling? I would like to try theirs soon – it’s so affordable!

      1. I’ve had no side effects at all with it so I’m really liking it! No peeling, redness, soreness, nothing! I’m gradually noticing my skin is nicer in a few ways but I think that’s a combination of generally using products that suit me more rather than just applying anything for ‘oily skin’. I’ve been using it for a couple of months now and I personally think it’s a great product!

        1. That’s great to hear! Retinol is my next step to “up” my skincare game! People even recommend it to combat blemishes which is so interesting. I always thought it was more for anti-aging!.

          1. It’s a bit of both because it resurfaces so I think that’s how it helps with blemishes too 🙂 The good thing is the retinoid doesn’t cause reactions on the skin like full on retinol, a proper retinol will be my next step up I think but not yet 😛 xx

  12. 😂thanks for self tanning your legs. Such fab public service. Only you can think of that.

Damn it, now that you remind me, I need to schedule to try out the MAC cream. MAC is so expensive in France, it is rather ridiculous.

I use the TIGI foxy curl too!!!! 😋

    1. Also, my legs were slightly scarred from the rashes I had last summer. Self tanning helps to conceal the contrast between the darker patches and the PALE skin! 😉

Ooh another TIGI Foxy Curl fan! Isn’t the smell so yummy?

It seems that everything in France is so expensive…

      1. Exactly! Love that smell~~ I sometimes think that the smell fools me into thinking that my curls are in control 😂

Yes, please don’t remind me of our ridiculous prices over here. Totally depressing. 😞

  13. Oooh that Muji toning water sounds really good!

I’m just about finished one of those CO Bigelow “My Favourite Night Lip Balm” and I’m meh on it. Definitely not thick enough for me to wear at night so I use it during the day but I don’t think I’d repurchase it.

Oh I didn’t realize that Jergens made a foaming version of that self-tanner – I’m using the lotion and I like it but I’d like to try the foam.

Yesssss Saje’s Liquid Sunshine is soooo good – one of my faves for sure!

    1. You know which lip balm is really thick and STAYS put? The H&M Overnight Lip Rescue. The only thing is that it has no scent so it just smells… natural. But that thing is still on my lips in the morning!

I went looking for a replacement of the Jergens foam and I can’t find it! I suspect they discontinued it… those jerks. 😛

  14. You did so well in May! I’ve never noticed any products turning brown before, but I generally don’t like vanilla scented things so tend to stay away from them, interesting to know that it’s not necessarily an issue if I do spot it though!
I’ve not thought about freezing the lush face masks, I’ll wait to see how you get on and then go and try one!
I tried to tackle my empties pile yesterday, I have a surprising amount considering I left quite a lot behind and I just looked at the pile and decided I couldn’t be bothered, I’ll probably regret it but I’m going to let June and July roll into one I think!

    1. This is the first time I’ve experienced liquids turning brown like that, but as long as it doesn’t affect the performance, I’m ok.
Good luck with tackling your empties! I just remember last year when you left it for 6 months haha… lesson learned? 😉
