Rexall Beauty Blogger Event

Last Thursday, I was invited to attend a Beauty Blogger even at Rexall located in downtown Toronto. It was to celebrate their remodeled location at Yonge and Richmond (in the heart of the Financial District in Toronto – think of it as Wall Street in NYC).  It was a lovely event and I also received some loot!

I posted a bunch of IG Stories of the event (if you’re not following me on Instagram, here is my account!) and I’ll share some of the videos here as well. 🙂

This Rexall store is actually located quite close to my work – yes I work a 9 to 5 job – so I sauntered over after work. The building is something to behold:

Rexall has been opening up quite a number of downtown locations in recent years. Lately, they’ve opened smaller formats within some historical buildings. What I love is that they’ve retained the character of the original buildings by working around facades and structures (if you live in Toronto, I encourage you to visit their Brunswick House location, it’s so beautifully done). The event also featured the radio station KISS 92.5 and this mountain of cake pops:

❤ I had to try one:

Yummy! By the way, the polish that I’m wearing in the video is – coincidentally – Cupcake Polish in Down for the Count (that I hauled here). 😀 Onto the beauty goodies – the bag they gave us was HEAVY to carry around for the hour that I spent at the store:

It was seriously like a workout for my arms! 😛

The weight was owing to some of the body and hair products inside:

• Nivea Smooth Body Lotion
• OGX Extra Creamy + Coconut Miracle Oil Body Wash
• Lady Speed Stick Unstoppable Antiperspirant
I’ll give the antiperspirant to my sister since I made the switch over to deodorants.

• Maui Moisture Curl Quench +Coconut Oil Curl Smoothie
This hair mask smells amazing – like real coconut! Check out Jodi of A Brash Attitude’s post on this line.

• BIC Soliel Glow Comfort Shield Razors
• Colgate Optic White Express Platinum White Toothpaste
These are essentials  – who doesn’t want smooth legs and white teeth?!

• Neutrogena All-in-One Make-up Removing Cleansing Wipes
• 7th Heaven Dead Sea Peel-Off Masque
• StriVectin TL Advanced Tightening Neck Cream
• Live Clean Refreshing Facial Wipes
I’ve been trying out a few of the Montagne Jeunesse 7th Heaven masks and they’re very effective! I can’t wait to try more.

• John Frieda Luxurious Volume Core Restore and Frizz Ease hair care samples and coupons

• Nivea Creme Care All-in-One Facial Cleansing Lotion samples and coupons
• Parissa Brow Shaper Mini Wax Strips sample
• Nivea 2-in-1 Moisturizing Primer sample
I’m intrigued by that Nivea primer – haven’t heard anything about this.

• Physician’s Formula Mineral Wear Cushion Corrector + Primer Duo in yellow / green – when I saw this, I started to laugh. You all know how I feel about cushion compact makeup! 😆 I’m not sure if I’ll try this or pass it along to someone. But I do like the holographic packaging even if my buddy Harivain might not! 😉
• Physician’s Formula Highlight & Contour Palette Bronze Booster in Matte Sculpting – I read this review on Mimsy’s Blog awhile back and I’m excited to try it!
• Physician’s Formula Lash Contortionist in Ultra Black – I almost picked this up a while back when I spotted a $5 off rebate on the package.

• Tweezerman tweezers in leopard print (rawr!)
• Revlon Eyes, Cheeks + Lips Palette in Seductive Smokes
• Burt’s Bees Lipstick in Sunset Cruise
Remember I was wanting an all in one type of palette for travel? Maybe this Revlon one will fill the void. And funny, I already own the Burt’s Bees Lipstick in that exact shade (I love the formula so much, it was in my favourites list) so it will be gifted to someone! 😉

Thank you to Rexall for inviting me to visit your Yonge & Richmond store! Some of the brands and features at this location include NYX, Milani, H2O+, Kiss NY (I was excited to see this at Rexall, remember I picked up a few items from Cloré Beauty Supply before), and a wall of nail polishes and a special display of discount designer fragrances for $19.99.

Have you tried any of the items I received?

  1. Ooh how fun! I had no idea Rexall did stuff like this, LOL! That is a very nice bag of goodies—I have a Burt’s Bees lippie and some of the other shampoo stuff. Now you have loads of stuff to try! 😀

Love the leopard print Tweezerman! 🐆

The new Rexalls do look very nice. I have yet to go to the one at Brunswick. I wish the one at Richmond (pretty close to me) would install automatic doors, though. I guess you can go in from inside the building, but I’m always going in from the street.

    1. I had no idea Rexall did these events either. I think they might be a new thing. They messaged me on Instagram to invite me!
How do you like the Burt’s Bees lippie? The packaging is a bite clunky but I love the formula!
Warning, the location at Brunswick is not very stroller friendly… the doors are manual and the space is quite tight! 😛

      1. LOL I am so lazy to use Instagram! But all that sweet swag! 😂

I like the BB lipstick formula (and the color) but I kind of despise the packaging! Is it just mine, or does yours also take like 100 twists for the lipstick to come all the way out? Aaaaaagh.

And gah, why wouldn’t they make a pharmacy wheelchair/stroller accessible?!?!?! 😫

        Enjoy all your goodies!!

  2. You got lots of great goodies. The Revlon palette looks good. I’ve never seen that before. Physicians Formula I actually picked up some of their products😊 The dead sea mask looks interesting. I see that brand in all our stores but again I’ve not seen that particular mask x

    1. I’ve not seen that Revlon palette before either! I hope it works well. I am not fond of the mixture of cream and powder products in a palette but for the convenience, maybe it’s not a big deal.
I can’t wait to try the mask!

      1. No I know what you mean. It’ll be interesting to see how it performs and if it’s good enough for travel. I’m on the hunt for a new travel set that’s convenient x

  3. Nice goody bag!

I’ve seen reviews of those Revlon palettes and they have all been negative. Emily Noel on YouTube talked about them awhile back and said they were very disappointing. Really subpar quality.

    1. Oh no – too bad about the Revlon palettes! I’ve been disappointed by most Revlon powder products for the past few years. They used to make such good eye shadow but now they’re not pigmented and don’t last. What happened, Revlon?

  4. I love your “I’ll take both” candy choice *LOL* O, come on, be a good spot and give the cushion a try. That FF packaging does look promising. What an amazing goodie bag! 😀 Wide range of products~~ you’re a lucky girl.

    1. Haha you saw that IG Story! I omitted from this post in an attempt to erase history! 😆
I think the universe is conspiring to get me to try more cushion products and come over to the dark side… 😮

  5. Very cool. Thanks for sharing the vids from your IG story. I’ve been stubborn about updating my app so I haven’t seen any of them from the people I follow (LOL). Love the cake pops and nice assortment of freebies. Kinda makes me with we had one over here, because I’d definitely check out any event like this.

    1. I was stubborn for the longest time not updating my IG either! I HATED the concept of IG Stories when they first launched… but I’m a sheep and I succumbed to them. 😛 It’s honestly like having Snapchat integrated into IG… they even came out with selfie filters with animals and stuff.

  6. My idea of heaven haha! So many of these products look great! It’s so thoughtful of you to re-gift the ones you might not use/already own. I really need to that with some of my clutter *AHEM* makeup 😛

  7. Oooh, that’s a packed goody bag! And I can’t believe how ridiculously cute those cake pops are.
I’ve been so out of the loop when it comes to new makeup, I was just looking at that Physician’s Formula highlight & contour palette at the drugstore today. It looks excellent, hope you enjoy it!
Oh man, I don’t need that Maui Curl Smoothie but it looks like it would be amazing!

    1. I’m kind of out of the loop with new makeup too! I like to look but then I get tempted… with us both being on no-buy, it’s a real challenge!
The Maui Moisture line offers a bunch of different hair masks / smoothies – I bet you can find one suited for your hair type!

    1. There so so many places to shop around where I work, it is very dangerous. Toronto’s financial district is probably where 90% of people work when they’re down town and there’s a huge underground network of shopping mall / food court. It’s touted as the largest underground shopping complex in the world and tourists come to visit (it’s very funny because 99% of the people are in suits and work clothes and then random groups of tourists):

      1. OMG I had no idea! I work in Canary Wharf, one of London’s 2 financial districts. Canary Wharf has a similar system of underground shopping malls (apparently there are over 300 shops) and food places – all in the tunnels that connect the towers underground. There are also a few train stations – you can even reach 2 of them without leaving the complex. But the PATH seems to be 4 times bigger than Canary Wharf! Wow!
