Trash Stash: August to October-ish 2017: Part 1 (Skincare and Sample / Travel Sizes)

You guys, I have 3 months’ worth of Trash Stash to share with you! I wanted to post this last week but we were in the middle of refurnishing our place and we didn’t even have dinning room table / chairs or a couch. But there’s no excuse that I left this for 3 months… I have no one to blame but myself! 😳

I didn’t even bother trying to fit everything in this shot. πŸ˜›

I understand if you may want to go for a coffee break while reading this post. I’d just be happy if you read the beginning and the ending like I used to do with each chapter of Harlequin Romance novels! πŸ˜‰ I’ve broken my Trash Stash into 2 posts to reduce the length – here goes:

Skincare

Trader Joe’s Nourish All-in-one Facial Cleanser – $6USD for 250ml
I had read good things about this somewhere online and asked my coworker to pick this up when he was visiting the US (we do not have Trader Joe’s here in Canada… why?!) I was rather disappointed that this face wash is lackluster: it has a watery texture, it doesn’t lather well, and it smells like dry wall? On the plus side, it doesn’t leave a residue on my skin and didn’t irritate my skin. And it was also very cheap.

Marcelle Oil-Free Eye Make-Up Remover Lotion – $13.95 for 200ml (this was a bonus size bottle, normally it’s 150ml)
This isn’t a lotion in the traditional sense of the word. It’s a somewhat soapy liquid. I find it quite effective in removing my eye makeup after I’ve taken off most of it with my oil cleanser. It performs similarly to the Rimmel Gentle Eye Makeup Remover – I wouldn’t say it has the ability to break down stubborn waterproof eye makeup without the aid of a oil cleanser. I do like that it doesn’t leave any oily residue.

Good Things Acai Berry Multi-Tasking Micellar Water – $6 for 250ml
Found this at Winners and saw that it’s made in the UK and decided to give it a whirl. I did not like it because it is a very soapy formula that left a sticky residue on my skin. In fact, as I’m wiping my face with this on a cotton pad, this lathers up with a foamy texture. I do follow this up with a toner which helps to remove the residue. As for its cleansing properties, I found it to be not great. I did a comparison with my beloved Yves Rocher micellar water and this got off about half of what YR did. I also did not care for the scent – it smelled like a mixed berry juice box.

Yves Rocher 3 Detoxifying Teas Micellar Cleansing Water – $19 for 200ml
Speaking of which, my HG micellar water! And now discontinued. **swear words** I have 3 more bottles left. I’ve tried all of YR’s other micellar waters and none come close to this.

Dr Brandt XYY Xtend Your Youth Dual Fusion Water – $32USD
This was another Winners find. I’ve not tried Dr Brandt skincare before but I liked this quite a bit. I suppose this is meant to be a micellar type water, but I used it as my third cleansing step (after cleansing oil, and micellar water). The scent is a little medicinal but not offensive. I found it effective for removing any remaining makeup residue and it did not feel harsh on the skin. The hinge on the lid did brreak at about 2/3 of the way through the product.

There is a statement on the box that “due to the presence of botanical ingredients, this product may change in colour over time.” The liquid was an amber colour right out of the box so it’s possible that it’s older stock.

The Face Shop Oil Specialist Pore Clean Cleansing Oil – $20 for 200ml
This doesn’t clean my makeup well and leaves a silicone-y feeling residue on my skin after rinsing off.

It’s mineral oil based, which I don’t typically have an issue with.

I had high hopes for this but I think it contributed to clogging my skin.Β  I got this during a 40% off sale.

Clinique Moisture Surge IntenseΒ Moisture Surge Intense Skin Fortifying Hydrator – $46 for 50ml
I’ve been delinquent in posting my favourites but this product is listed in my draft that was meant to be posted back in June. o_O This cream is excellent! I’m not surprised that would have been on my favourites list since I bought this full size jar because I fell in love with the gwp size. Proof that those gwp samples do work! This product is a perfect daytime moisturizer as it creates an ideal canvas for foundation to be applied on top – my skin is hydrated but not overly oily. This is the “Intense” version which is meant for “dry to dry combination” skin. This jar lasted me about 4 months with daily use.
Stash worthiness:Β 10/10 Β  Β  Repurchase:Β Yes

Consonant Ultra Moisturizing Face Cream – $49 for 50ml
This is a good day time face cream that I like for the warmer months. I don’t love the smell of it – although it doesn’t have added fragrance, it smells a little medicinal but I’ve been told it’s due to the olive oil.
Stash worthiness:Β 8/10 Β  Β  Repurchase:Β Yes

Timeless Skin Care 20% Vitamin C + E Ferulic Acid Serum – $36.99 for 30ml
This is a great vitamin C at a reasonable price. It doesn’t beat the Paula’s Choice Vitamin C Booster for me but it does leave my skin looking radiant and helped to reduce hyperpigmentation. I kept this product in the fridge to maintain its freshness – a sign of vitamin C products “gone bad” is when they turn colour (ranging from yellow to orange to brown) – this serum stayed a clear liquid the whole time during the 3 months of usage. I’m going to try one of the vitamin C options from The Ordinary next.
Stash worthiness:Β 9/10 Β  Β  Repurchase:Β Yes

Caudalie Vinosource Moisturizing Sorbet – $48 for 40ml
I tried to use this as my daytime cream but it pills up and looks badly under makeup so I ended up using it in the evenings. This has a gel / mousse type of texture that doesn’t absorb too well into the skin. I don’t find it to be deeply hydrating for my skin. They’ve changed the tube design to pink now, in case you’re wondering if it’s the same product. The tube lasted me about 2 months with nightly use.
Stash worthiness:Β 5/10 Β  Β  Repurchase:Β No

Illamasqua Matte Veil – $48 for 30ml
I love the Illamasqua Hydra Veil so when they launched the matte version, I thought I’d love it just as much. Unfortunately, this doesn’t do it for me. I found it clung to dry patches but also didn’t perform its intended function of mattifying my skin. The texture and smell is an unappealing diluted strawberry yogurt. After having this opened but unfinished for a couple of years in my stash, I finally used this up during the warmer months.

The Body Shop Drops of Youth Eye Concentrate – $32 for 10ml
I love me a metal eye roller and this one didn’t disappoint – I mentioned this in my favourites earlier this year. I noticed that TBS has repackaged this in a black tube (but still with the roller ball) and added the word “serum” at the end of the name. It’s pricey but I picked it up during their 40% off sale.

The label reads: Material: Rayon / Ingredients: Water, Ethanol, BG, PG, Methylparaben, Dipotassium Glycyrrhizinate, Citric Acid NA, Dimenthicone, Peach Leaf Extract, Laureth-2, Laureth-21

MUJI Cleansing Sheets – $1.50 for 12 sheets
Disappointed by these. The sheets have an open mesh construction which felt scratchy on my skin. The solution felt high in alcohol content which dried out my skin. Plus, they did not effectively remove my makeup. This is the only MUJI skincare that I’ve tried that haven’t cared for.
Stash worthiness:Β 4/10 Β  Β  Repurchase:Β No

Lip Smacker in Chocolate Mint – $4 for 4g
I picked this up last year because it was promoted as a “retro” flavour and I do really like chocolate mint flavoured things, but I was a bit let down by this. First, I was expecting it to be a brown colour, instead it’s a mint colour (I guess I had a 50/50 chance). Then, the flavour is weak on both the chocolate and mint fronts. Moisturization level was just so-so. There’s an EOS Peppermint Mocha holiday limited edition flavour that I’m highly curious about.

Holika Holika I Want Chu lip balm in Cola – $12 for 2
Now this – I love! This came in a set of 2, one is Cola and the other Cherry. The idea was that the Cherry one is for the girl and Cola one is for boy – when they smooch, you get cherry cola! πŸ˜€ I personally enjoyed the Cola one more than the Cherry so I used this one up completely whereas the Cherry one is barely touched. This gave a hint of tint on the lips and tasted faintly sweet with a fairly authentic bubbly cola scent. I wish I could repurchase this flavour alone.

Owl Lip Balm in Mint – 1.5g
I love owls and got this as a present from a friend. The lip balm located in the owl’s butt and is minty and has bits of multi-coloured glitter in it.Β  This is more for fun than actual use. I won’t rate this since it was a gift! πŸ™‚

Kose Babyish Clear Turn Sheet Masks – Β₯300 (~$3.50) for 7 masks
This was a highly recommended item to buy when I visited Japan. This resealable pouch holds 7 sheet masks – they’re not individually packaged inside, each mask is just folded and stacked against each other. This is a great concept to reduce waste. Where this mask failed me is how oddly shaped the masks are – they’re much wider than they are long so the sides tend to start peeling away from my face. Also, the serum is thin like water so the sheets do not want to adhere to my skin. I learned that this blue packaging is meant to be a whitening type which is why when I remove the mask, my skin looks paler (was quite a shock when I used it the first time). The effect is temporary though – I do not see any significant improvements over the course of the 7 consecutive days that I used these masks for. I certainly did not get baby skin! One good thing I will say about these masks (aside from the reduced packaging) is that they’re unscented. Another good thing, they’re extremely inexpensive!

The Creme Shop Blueberry Face Mask – $1.13
Basic sheet mask with a thicker sheet material. This didn’t contain too much serum, and it was quite watery so it evaporated quickly. The scent didn’t smell like blueberries, more like a faint fruity body spritz.

Malibu Glitz Snail Lifting & Moisturizing Facial Mask – $1.13
Similar to the previous mask from this brand, the serum irritated my eyes as it evaporated.

Mediheal Platinum V-Life Essential Mask – $1.30 ($12.99 for 10 masks) x3
My go-to sheet mask at the moment. I reviewed this as part of my 30 Day Masking Challenge. My goal is to finish the full box of these by the end of the year – I have 5 left.

Yves Rocher After Sun Hydrogel SOS Mask – $13
This was 2 piece mask and was pretty nice – had a good amount of serum for a hydrogel material. Didn’t see noticeable results except for additional temporary hydration on the skin.Β  There’s so much dang packaging with this single use mask! Glad I snagged this for $5.

7th Heaven Dead Sea Peel Off Mask – $1.50
I tried another peel off mask from 7th Heaven / Montagne Jeunesse (the 2 Stage T-Zone Peel Off Face Masque) and I quite liked it. This mask had a lot to live up to but alas, it wasn’t meant to be. Firstly, this mask smells like toilet cleaner. It irritated my skin enough that I developed 2 hives while I had it on my face. It did peel off pretty cleanly, leaving a few residues around my nose. My skin did feel very smooth afterward but no lasting effect next morning.

Montagne Jeunesse 2 Stage Rescue Mud Masque For Problem Prone Skin – $1.50
The only mask in my 30 Day Masking Challenge that scored 10 out of 10! I hauled a whack of them this summer.

Karuna Exfoliating Mask – $10 each
As I’m opening the package, I read the warning “not for sensitive skin” 😳 It turned out fine though – there’s a slight tingle on the skin but not painful. The mask is drenched in serum which helped it to adhere well to my skin. The fit of this is nearly perfect for my face – it even covers my entire fivehead! My skin did feel exfoliated and felt very soft afterwards, thanks to the fruit enzymes in this mask. But is this mask worth $10 though? No. I’d say maybe it’s worth $5. The material of the mask is about on par with The Face Shop ones which costs $2. I’m glad I found a pack of 4 for $13 (works out to $3.25 each) at Winners!

Rexall KIT Premium Square Cosmetic Pads – $8.59 for 165 count
These are meant to be a cheaper dupe to the Shiseido Facial Cottons but don’t fall for the trap! It’s no good – I used these up for removing nail polishes (and even then, it was annoyingly linty). For a cheaper dupe to the Shiseido cotton, try the MUJI Cut Cotton one instead!

The Face Shop Green Tea Stone Therapy Cotton Pads – $4 for 60pcs
I enjoy trying different types of exfoliating cottons (see post here) and this offering from The Face Shop intrigued me. This one has a fine grit and didn’t irritate my skin but I didn’t find it provided much exfoliation.Β  The cotton would break apart while I’m using it too.

That spray diagram amuses me.

Mary Kay Makeup Finishing SprayΒ – $20 for 59ml
This is made by SkindinΓ€via which also makes Urban Decay’s makeup setting sprays. Per ml, the MK one costs even more than UD’s but I find MK to work better for me in setting my makeup.

Sample / Travel Size

TraveloΒ Refillable Perfume Spray – this was all the rage a few years back with YouTube and blogs promoting it. I fell for it and I’m here to tell you that it sucks! I’ve owned a few of them (all Travelo branded) and the perfumes just evaporate or leak out of every one of them. Β You’re better off just gettingΒ freeΒ perfume samples of your favourite scents to put into your purse or for travel.

Jose Maran 100% Argan Oil – nothing special now that the market offers many other options for much less. I ended up using this on my hair.

Boscia Luminizing Black Charcoal Mask – one of the worst masks I’ve tried! 😑 The fumes of this mask stung my eyes so badly that tears ran down my face! I persevered though, and removal was equally painful – my cheeks and forehead ended up with red hives and a layer of skin stripped off.Β  Needless to say, I did not use this beyond the first trial. This tube would have contained enough product for 2 full masks.

Cetaphil Gentle Skin Cleansing Cloth – awesome cleansing cloths – large sized sheets and effective in removing makeup, yet gentle on the skin.

L’Oreal Pure-Clay Mask Exfoliating and Pore Refining – found this in a magazine along with other variations of the L’Oreal clay masks. This is the peach coloured one that contains exfoliating bits. It was ok but I would not purchase the full size.

Clinique Dramatically Different Moisturizing Lotion – this is the old formula without the + sign at the end. Honestly I can’t tell the difference – they both work wonderfully for me.

It’s annoying how MUJI has to slap on these stickers onto the products for the English & French translations – it really cheapens the appearance of their products.

MUJI Organic All-in-one Gel Serum – LOVED this and will definitely be purchasing the full size. A lightweight serum that kept my skin hydrated and very little product is needed with each use.

L’Occitane Verbena Shampoo, Conditioner, Shower Gel, and Body Lotion – snagged these from a hotel while on vacation in Alberta. This scent doesn’t do it for me but all the products worked well.

Pantene Daily Moisture Renewal Shampoo and Conditioner – it’s been years since I’ve used Pantene and I was not a fan. These left a waxy residue on my hair.

John Frieda Luxurious Volume Shampoo, Conditioner, and Serum – unremarkable except that the conditioner is a clear gel. I’ve never come across any other hair conditioner like that. Performance was average. I was somewhat excited for the hair serum but it weighed my hair down (my hair isn’t fine but is prone to getting weighed down due to its length).

John Frieda Frizz Ease Shampoo and Conditioner – smells nice, but nothing special.

LUSH Veganese Conditioner – got this to try during my last visit to the LUSH store – glad I got it to try before committing to the full size since this was just ok. Smelled medicinal and didn’t leave my hair feeling conditioned.

L’Occitane Amande Shower Oil – felt so silky and luxurious. This latheredΒ  well, surprisingly for an oil. I would consider purchasing the full size of this.

Korres Basil Lemon Body Milk – a lightweight body lotion with a refreshing scent that was great for the warmer months.

And that concludes the first part of my 3 month Trash Stash. πŸ˜› The sub-total so far is 51 which isn’t as much as I’d thought I’d have for 3 months but let’s see how many are in the 2nd part which contains makeup, body and hair care empties.Β  I’ll post that next week. πŸ™‚

Have you tried any of these items? Are you excited about Black Friday sales? I’ve taken the day off work (I’m in Canada so it’s not Thanksgiving holidays for us) just to go shopping! πŸ˜€

  1. I really don’t like soapy micellar waters – I’ve been using one of mine up for when I do swatches since I can’t stand the soapy feeling on my face.
I think that you finished up a fair bit in the last three months, especially since you have a whole other blog post worth of empties!

    1. Those soapy micellar waters need to die! I dislike them – good idea to use for swatch removal.
My target for empties is one per day so for the span of 3 months, it’s approx 90 items… I’m not sure if I’ll hit that!

  2. That spray diagram though… πŸ˜‚No idea how a small spray bottle will cover the entire surface of the face…at least that is the message that I am getting. πŸ˜‚

You try a lot of masks! How many times a week do you mask? I’m so lazy with my masking routine at the moment that I’m lucky to do it just once. 😳

As a Clinique devotee (or so I like to think), I had no idea there were old formulas of the lotion though I doubt I could tell the difference either. I’m also close to using up my sample size.

Will note The Body Shop eye concentrate for next time. I really ought to try more TBS stuff, but nothing ever excites me and I don’t know why!!

    1. Yeah, that Mary Kay spray diagram made me chuckle because of full on they make the spray stream. In reality, it’s a nice fine mist – I quite like that spray nozzle, actually!

After my 30 day masking challenge I vowed to use masks more regularly but I’ve fallen short! I aim to mask twice a week but I may amp it up now that it’s so dry out.

Clinique made a huge announcement about the reformulation – I just googled it and it was back in 2013! Here’s an article about it:
      https://www.ft.com/content/f853636a-c16d-11e2-9767-00144feab7de

I was less enticed by TBS a couple of years ago but lately they’ve had some good products. They often have sales so be sure to get them on discount!

  3. I love your empties posts, I love that you give a little review. That’s the way I want everyone to do empties like, it is truly helpful this way. I need to try that Clinique moisturizer, not only it looks pretty in pink I love how you described it also. xx

  4. I’ve tried the Good Things wild strawberry & gig toner/cleanser. It’s ok but I’ve used better. I use it now to clean up hair dye I get in my skin when I’m do a root touch up.

I’ve tried other sheet masks from The Creme Shop and like them. I love their charcoal detox/mattifying one.

My empties basket is pretty full again. I should do a post soon.

  5. Yay, missed your Trash Stash! I used to own something similar to Travels when I was a teenager (almost *cough* 20 years ago) and that one worked well and didn’t lesk but when I changed my fragrance it was really difficult to get rid of the previous one lingering on.
I am just wondering whether I tried the YR micellar water but it is late now😟

    1. Sadly, all of my Travelos were bad ones I guess. I really liked the concept but the execution was lacking – I should try other non-Travelo brands maybe.
Sometimes I feel bad raving about discontinued products but who knows, some Yves Rocher locations may be sitting on a bunch of stock.

  6. You still used up a lot! I get through face masks but skincare lasts me a loooong time. It’s a shame the Babyish Masks weren’t great as they look so unique! I need to look out for that 2 stage rescue mud mask! Sounds great☺ The owl lip balm is so cute x

    1. I think I slather on skincare? I used to think I didn’t use enough but now maybe I overdo it! πŸ˜†
I was REALLY hoping the Babyish masks would be fantastic since they work out to cost $0.50 each only, and the multi-pack concept has much less packaging / waste. Too bad!

  7. I haven’t tried most of these. I feel terrible that you had such an AWFUL reaction to the Boscia peel-off charcoal mask. I actually like them and love the feeling of peeling them off I got the set of 4 with the white, blue and green ones too. I can’t say that I use them often though.

What’s on your list for Black Friday?! I actually haven’t been tempted yet to buy anything. A year or 2 ago I went crazy and bought a huge MUFE case/set AND a YSL lip set. Oh I’m happy to report that the splurge purchase of Tom Ford eyeliner was a success. I have never loved my eyeliner more since I’ve used it! It’s also so easy to apply!

    1. I always take my chances when it comes to peel off masks. I love them but they don’t love me back. I’ve noticed over the years that my eyes suffer whenever there’s high alcohol content in masks because they need to dry down / evaporate to set – stings my eyeballs!

Honestly I do not have beauty items in mind for Black Friday – more so for clothing and gifts. I glimpsed at the list of deals announced and I’m pretty “meh” on them all. You do have me all curious about Tom Ford stuff now. I’ve been circling that brand for ages especially for an eye shadow quad and makeup brushes! I don’t have a plan of attack when I’m strolling through the mall at 7am… I’ll just see what entices me!

  8. The Clinique Moisture Surge has been something I’ve wanted to try for a while now, it sounds really good. The Body Shop eye roller looks like a fun tool, the coldness of the metal ball would shock me every time I used it lol. Can’t wait for part 2!

  9. You did a me! I left my empties to roll over from October’s as I didn’t have that many, now this month is out of control!
Woah Good Things – that’s a blast from the past I haven’t seen it here in maybe five years?!
TBS Drops of Youth Eye concentrate is what I want to get once I’ve finished up my eye creams – I’ve been keeping my eye on my local store as it’s an outlet to grab it if I see it cheap but I haven’t seen it yet!
I’ve been on the hunt for those 2 stage 7th Heaven masks here and so far I’ve not found them!
I love the Amande Shower Oil, I never feel like I can justify buying it but it always crops up in magazines here at least once a year and at that point I’ll buy a copy to treat myself. Works really when shaving too. I also really like the verbena scent – I don’t think I’d like it as a body cream but quite enjoy the soap and the shower gels of it.

Yes I’ve owned that bottle of Good Things micellar water for ages – been hiding in my closet. 😳
I have a feeling the 7th Heaven 2 Stage masks might be discontinued – your best bet would be at discount / outlet stores.

  10. I had one big coffee while reading this! Haha! That’s a good few months worth of empties! I’m so in love with the packaging of the Holika Holika I Want Chu lip balm- I love the mustaches on the lid.

Yves Rocher always discontinues my favourite products! Luckily they are always rolling out new items. I have a micellar from them that I just opened- I forget which one. I’m hoping it’s good, but fingers crossed!

Instead of a perfume traveler I always go to Nordstrom because they have a whole bunch of empty sample containers that I’ll get them to fill with my favourite perfumes. I’ll do that with skincare too. They make perfect travel items πŸ˜„

    1. The moustache packaging on the Holika Holika is definitely a selling feature! The Cherry one has lips on it.
I honestly don’t know what Yves Rocher’s business model is – they have discontinued several of my favourites but I keep going back there. I think it’s a slightly abusive relationship! πŸ˜† I hope that micellar water you got is good – please let me know.
Oooh that’s a good tip about Nordstrom! They’ve made perfume samples for me before – they hold quite a bit!

Sorry to hear your YR micellar water stash is dwindling. I hope you’ll find another micellar water that’s just as good! xo

That Boscia mask sounds very scary!

I remember those Travalos! Back then I was sent one for free. Didn’t want it, didn’t care for it, gave it away.

    1. Geez that Boscia mask is horrific. My friend got a tube to try and she LOVES it. When I told her that I found it too harsh, she said that she didn’t find it “strong enough”. I think she’s trying to peel off a whole layer of her skin off? o_O

I have found some very good micellar waters that can fill in the void left by the YR – namely, from a Canadian brand Reversa. Also, the Sukin micellar water is excellent as well!

You were smart to not try the Travelo. I got a few thinking maybe one was a dud… turns out they were all duds!

  12. Great post, I enjoyed reading this. I love the scent of L’Occitane Amande, I had a mini hand cream with the scent and it was divine! 7th Heaven are actually made by Montagne Jeunesse, and the MJ Spearmint and Dead Sea Salt face mask is horrific, I had an ellergic reaction and I ended up with red burns on my face would never ever use again! Having said that the MJ Mud Mask is great but I’m really cautious with those face masks now and prefer not to use.

Yes, I remember you reacted badly to some of the Montagne Jeunesse stuff – how terrible! Sometimes all natural stuff isn’t gentle at all (I find minty things to be very iffy for me also).

  13. I remember reading somewhere years ago that Pantene was the worst thing you could use on your hair. Whatever source this was from said you could wax your floors with the conditioner and then strip them with the shampoo lol
That’s crazy about the boscia mask! I quite enjoy that mask just because it’s fun but it doesn’t really do much for my skin. The white version breaks me out though (and looks like desiten which is unnerving).
I’m always so amazed that you’re able to use up so many products (even over a three month period lol). It’s inspiring!
I also apologize for typos, I’m on my phone. I generally try to avoid commenting from my phone but then I end up just never commenting because I seldom read blogs on the computer. And now I’m just rambling! πŸ™‚

    1. Yes I recall about the Pantene products causing a lot of build up on the hair! That’s how their products gets the hair so smooth and shiny!

That Boscia mask was painful on so many levels – my friend likes that mask too. She actually complained that it wasn’t “strong enough” for her liking.

You know, I’ve always wondered what % of people visit my site through phone / computer / tablets. And how many use the reader vs coming to my site url. Because if they come through mobile through the reader, why do I even bother making the site look pretty? πŸ˜›

      1. Not a strong enough mask?! Holy cow. I mean, it doesn’t bother me but it’s somewhat akin to waxing your whole face when you take it off.

It seems like there should be a stat for that somewhere but I’m not sure they’re capable/allowed to track that kind of thing. I do almost everything from my phone so when I do log onto your site from my computer I’m always delighted and surprised! I love your holiday decorations! πŸ˜€

  14. Oh gosh, you + three months worth of empties = never a good idea. Haha!
I’ve heard SO many good things about the L’Occitane Amande Shower Oil, I can’t make up my mind whether I should buy it or not since it’s pretty pricey! I almost bought it during Black Friday but backed out at the last minute haha.
The Clinique Moisture Surge moisturizer sounds really good. It’s not always easy to find a face cream that works well under makeup!
Okay, I’ve always wanted a Travalo since the whole YouTube craze, but have never ended up buying one. Now I know to avoid it! Wouldn’t want to waste any of my perfumes putting it in something that’s only going to leak it all out…
LOL, the idea of the Holika Holika lip balm is hilarious! You should have used the cherry one and given the coke to your SO, hehe!

    1. I procrastinated too long on these… the pile was out of control!

I did notice more of a hype around that L’Occitane Amande shower oil lately even though it’s not a new product – I do wonder if there’s a PR push. I got this sample about TWO years ago and only cracked it open now.

I fell for the Travelo buzz – boo! So much waste.

My SO hates wearing lip balms and doesn’t like it when I’m wearing lip balm and kiss him… so I have to wipe it off first! *sigh*

    1. Thanks! I like to keep a tally as I use things up throughout the month so I don’t have to sit down for hours on end typing up the post at the end of the month!

  15. Admittedly, I’ve procrastinated reading this post because of the length. Now that I’m on holiday, I have my cup of tea ready.

I’ve noticed that quite a “few” of your favourite have been discontinued. Very bad luck, Stashy~~ What’s your 2nd favourite miscellar after YR?

The Face Shop Oil Specialist Pore Clean Cleansing Oil ==> I hate that residua feeling. Good thing that you’ve pointed it out. I certainly won’t give it try even if it goes 60% off.

You’re a true twin, I swear! I love the Clinique moisture surge too!!!! Their dramatically different moisturising lotion is going through crazy packaging make-over, that’s what it feels like. Who can bloody tell the difference between the lotion, lotion+, cream and gel version. Seriously, what is Clinique thinking?!? With the exception of the cream version, the others are pretty much the same to me.

L’occitane and I have a rough relationship… they discontinue my favourite hand cream (for a person who does not use body lotion, this is a big deal). I don’t know how I feel about them at the moment.

    1. Haha, you’re a free woman and you chose to peruse my blog?! I’m honoured. πŸ™‚

I have the most terrible luck with my favourites being discontinued! I’m actually drafting up a post of all my current favourites and I’m only limiting myself to products not limited edition or discontinued and it’s a SAD affair! πŸ˜›

Yeah Clinique should not mess with a good thing. They are trying to be more “current”, I suppose? Just leave the products alone!

Oh no! What hand cream did L’Occitane discontinue on you? Yes, it’s a big deal!

      1. L’Occitane discontinued the a honey x lemon hand cream (cry).

I think if you do a post on all your favourites that got discontinued, that will be a really serious rant *LOL* Maybe you save that for a podcast wahahah rant out live
