My Three Year Blogiversary! (+ Announcement)

My blog turns THREE today! 😀

Thank you to all of you for interacting with me online – I’ve enjoyed getting to know you better and often having a laugh or two in the comments section. ❤

This past year saw some posts that I’m quite proud of, and the feedback from you have been phenomenal.  Some highlights of my most popular posts from 2017:

Megapost: Custom Palette Systems

Hourglass Ambient Lighting Powder Dupes?

BHA Exfoliants: CosRX vs Paula’s Choice

Affordable Drugstore Nude Palettes

MUJI Cut Cotton White – Shiseido Facial Cotton DUPE

Anastasia Beverly Hills Eye Shadow Singles

Beauty Product Reviewing Guide: Method and Terminology

As I look back at my goals from last year, I did achieve the majority of them including:
Organize header / menu: I finally did it! I kick myself for not doing it sooner, it’s really not difficult. 😳
Do a bunch of Megaposts: I managed to do only ONE (see the custom palettes post above).
Attend a Beauty Event: I did end up attending a few beauty events and meeting other local beauty bloggers! 😍
Continue to expand topics: I’d say I stayed the course on this one – I post what I want including travel and fashion, and you’ve seen my off topic banter related to the Beauty Podcast with Cat. 😉
The only one I didn’t do was Work the Pinterest, I still don’t get Pinterest despite my best efforts. 😛

Announcement

I’ve made the decision to wind down my blog. I understand if this may come as a surprise to you. It was something I wrestled with for the latter half of 2017. I took a couple of blog breaks and came back each time to give it another shot but I never rekindled that drive to continue.  I still plan to maintain an online presence, just not update this blog.  There isn’t one single reason as to why I want to stop blogging. To quote one of my favourite shows, The Wire: It just ain’t in me no more.”  This decision feels right for me now, but who knows, it may not be forever. I’ve witness countless bloggers who call it quits but end up coming back because they miss it.

I’m making this announcement now so the blog will come to a natural conclusion.  Rather than having an abrupt end, I still have a few blog entries that I will post in the coming weeks including a summary of my Trash Stash for 2017, a Hauluary haul or two, and one last giveaway!  Stay tuned. 🙂

Again, thank you! 😘

  1. Congrats Stashy on 3 years❤ but noooo I’m going to miss your posts 😭 I totally understand how you feel though, I’ve had those days too. I’m glad and thankful I discovered and enjoyed your blog while it was here ❤

  2. Of course I will miss you in my feed and your hilarious sense of humor, that’s for sure! Good thing we’re friends on all platforms ☺️
I’ve been doing a lot of thinking about blog life too. I just don’t have as much time as I’d like to dedicate then I’m disappointed in myself and it takes away the fun.
I do wish you all the best in your new adventures and I look forward to whatever come next from you. I know there’s more to come from the mysterious and lovely Stashy. ❤️

    1. Yes, in this day of hyper-connectivity, I’m not going too far away. 🙂
Blogging is a hobby for both of us – as soon as it becomes a chore, it’s time to reevaluate! I did enjoy the act of writing and photographing but eventually I found it became more like homework than fun. I have a full time job and I don’t need homework on top of that! 😛
Thank you so much! I’m excited to see how I’ll waste spend my free time moving forward… 😉

  3. That cotton pad posts kills me. I love how OCD you’re with even the smallest detail.

Will be very sad when you do phase out / stop writing. You have such a natural flare when it comes to writing (be it beauty or travel).

I totally do not understand how Pinterest work too!!! *LOL* I’ve followed tips from Belinda and read up quite a few posts on how to use it. It’s getting no where and I’m still bloody confused how it works.

    1. I’ve never been diagnosed with OCD but I think I might have tendencies! 😉

Aww thank you. It will be bittersweet for sure. I like the community but my passion for creating content has lessened over time.

I think Pinterest is mostly just adding photos from your blog post onto a board… and people can “pin” it to their boards if they like it. I think you’re supposed to link a url back to your blog post to drive traffic. *scratches head*

  4. I completely understand where you are coming from. I started my blog when I wasn’t working full time and I’m super active if I’m not working and struggle to be active on multiple platforms when I am. I take forever to create a post on my blog (even if it has crappy photos, it’s hours and hours) but Instagram just feels right to me. I feel like I can see and chat with everyone in one place, get my product info, watch videos, be entertained. I spent 30 minutes looking at Yorkies earlier FOR NO REASON. LOL. I’m sure you will find new adventures too! Are you thinking of anything?

    1. I don’t have any immediate plans. I used to like Instagram but for the past year or so I don’t like it as much. Being on Instagram just sucks up so much time and at the end of it… I just feel empty about the experience. At least on the blog I feel that there’s more stability and things aren’t moving so fast. So no, I’m not planning to focus my time elsewhere in place of the blog. I’ll just mainly read here and there. 🙂 Thanks for your support Janine!

  5. In sad cause your blog was one of the handful I was looking most forward to reading regularly again but I totally get it. Things change, we change, out hobbies change. I think it would be awesome if you did pop back in every now and again for small updates though 🙂

    1. Thank you for your sweet words Kaily! ❤ You're one of the OG bloggers from the early days. I was a bit sad thinking about not blogging, but the desire to continue didn't outweigh that feeling…
Who knows, never say never, right? I'll still be on social media like IG and Twitter though. 🙂
