Random 25 Questions Tag

I had another post planned for today but haven’t had time to finish it… so this is an unplanned “bonus” post. Why not do a tag for old times’ sake? 😉

This isn’t one of the questions but I’m curious what you’d answer?

There’s no official name for this but these were 25 questions that Polished & Inspired posed and tagged me. And I have posted a “25 Facts Aboot Me Tag” before, which you can also check out.  Onward to the random questions…

1. Why did you start blogging?
I put myself on a full year of No-Buy back in 2015 and wanted to hold myself accountable! 😛  Also, I felt like I had a voice to share my passion for makeup and join a community of like-mind folks.

2. What does a perfect day entail?
Shopping, lots of shopping.  Dim sum.  And bubble tea.  Then after all the shopping and eating, I go for a facial and massage. 😍

Is it bad to say that I’d like to spend the day alone? 😛  Nothing against my SO but he would NOT be a fun shopping companion!

3. What’s your earliest memory?
Some of you know that I’m adopted but before I lived in an orphanage, I spent some time with my biological family and remember snippets of events in great detail while I was little.  I remember when I was a baby and we went to a gas station and another toddler swallowed a coin that he had found on the ground! I was told very sternly to never ever swallow coins! 😮  That lesson has stuck with me – I’ve never swallowed a coin in my life!

4. Do you (or would you) share your passwords with a significant other, and why or why not?
I don’t currently share my passwords with my SO, but I would totally share my password with my him! It’s “heysexy123” for your reference.

5. What was your favourite cartoon as a kid?
The Smurfs!

I mean, how awesome is it that there’s only just ONE female in the whole village? 😉

6. If you had to change your name, what would you change it to?
Officially to “Stashy”! 😆

7. What are five things you like about yourself?
I’m resilient, patient, resourceful, inquisitive, and my nails are decent (I just had to include one superficial thing… 😉)

8. What’s one thing you would change about yourself?
A physical thing: I wish I was just a teeny bit taller, like a couple of inches. I’m almost 5’3″ (160cm) and I wish I was 5’5″. A non-physical thing: I wished that I had been born earlier so I could experience how the world has changed so drastically. As much as I think the world and technology advancements are so fast paced now, I don’t think they are nearly as significant as the leaps that were made decades ago. Imagine if I was a Baby Boomer born in the 50s, and how the concept of a personal computer has changed so greatly from those massive machines to the computing capabilities of a tablet now. I feel like things such as a laptop or a cell phone hasn’t changed all that much in the past 10 or so years? I’m just really wondering what the next Big Thing is going to be…

9. You get an all-expenses paid vacation to anywhere in the world (can only choose one place) with no budget. Where would you go and what would you do?
I just googled “most expensive place to visit” and found this list. I’ve been to most of the places listed! 🤣 I suppose based on price of flight and local costs, I would choose Hawaii (Honolulu was listed as #8 on that list).

Source.

It never used to be on my list of travel destinations but everyone who has visited, have had nothing but good things to say about it. They tell me that there’s such a variety of scenery to see, from beaches, to mountains, to cities.  I also like the idea of all the fresh fruits and seafood to be had there!  Has anyone visited Hawaii and hated it? If so, please tell me…

10. What made you choose your job/profession (or major if you’re still in school)?
Being a Ninja: perks include being able to wear head to toe black all the time, and working solo. Also, throwing sharp objects freely.

11. Would you rather be a great singer, or a great dancer?
Tough one. Singing is something you can do no matter how old you get. But dancing can be a great physical activity to keep you healthy. Although, I think singing is more about what you were born with whereas you can learn how to dance as a skill. I wonder if there are more great singers or great dancers in the world? I’m probably thinking too much on this question. Fine, I’d rather be a great dancer because there’s still hope for me…

12. What fictional place from a book or movie do you wish existed?
Is this the question where everyone responds Hogwarts? 😆 I’m going to go with the fictional world shown in the movie The Fifth Element, for its mix of gritty reality with a unique futuristic vision. I primarily want this Chanel eye shadow gadget:

And also this nail polish change-y gadget:

Plus, I really like that movie overall. 🙂

13. Is there anything you’ve tried that you would never do again?
I had to sleep on this question because I just cannot think of anything that I’d never do again. Maybe, never catching a flight last minute again? I have been that person that they have to page over the intercom for last call before they close the airplane doors… 😳  In my defense, I was having coffee and they changed the gates on me (and I wasn’t paying attention… I know).

14. What personality trait do you wish you had?
Spontaneity.  I admire people who can just fly by the seat of their pants!

15. Do you have any bad habits?
Does buying too much makeup count as a bad habit? 😇 I also have a trucker mouth, I’m actively trying to not swear as much in real life. I need to express myself in more creative ways without the profanity!

16. What is your ideal meal?
Sushi or ramen.  I could probably rotate between those 2 meals for the rest of my life and be content.  I especially like salmon sushi, and tonkotsu ramen. 🍣🍜

17. Would you rather give up TV/movies for a year, or give up social media for a year?
I’d gladly give up social media for a year!  I’m not too into TV shows but I love movies too much.

18. Are there any websites you visit every single day?
Besides my WordPress feed to read your blogs? Those of you who follow my IG will already know this answer: REDDIT! I’m addicted. So much so that my SO and I banned ourselves for the month of January from visiting Reddit.

We were successful for the month but now we’re visiting it all the time again. 😛

19. What makeup/fashion trend do you wish would come back?
I feel like pretty much every trend has already been brought back?  Every other year it’s “the 60s / 70s / 80s / 90s are back!” it seems.

20. What celebrity or celebrities would you like to be friends with?
James Corden. He just seems like he’s always having fun.

21. Do you believe in soulmates? Why or why not?
No, I don’t believe in soulmates. I don’t subscribe to the notion that there is just one single person in the whole world who is suitable for another person.  That’s wishful thinking to somehow confirm or justify a relationship.  I think there’s a lot of work involved in a relationship and people who just rely on fate or “chemistry” are leaving too much to chance.

22. What’s something that you want to see in your lifetime?
The invention of teleportation!

Why is that not being funded by Elon Musk and Richard Branson right now? I have a conspiracy theory that big auto and airline industries are actively blocking the advancement of this technology!

23. What’s the best compliment you’ve ever gotten?
That I didn’t let my upbringing jade me. 🙂

24. What is one thing in your life you wish you could do over?
I’d probably redo high school. I was such a keener and took academics too seriously. If I could go back, I would do more fun extracurricular things, gone out more, and maintained better friendships. There was such an intense focus on getting into university and in the end, none of that really matters! 😛

25. What is the most memorable book or movie that you’ve written or watched?
Wait, are you asking if I wrote a book or movie script? 😆 I feel like I’ve answered this question quite a few times before.  One that I haven’t named is The Shawshank Redemption.

It’s based on a book so it satisfies both questions. 😉  It’s just an overall amazing story with great dialogue and well fleshed-out characters.

Phew, I feel like this was part job interview, part personality test… 😛  Thanks to P&I for tagging me! ❤ If you’re interested in reading more of these types of Q&As from me, check them all out here.

I’m not tagging anyone but please feel free to answer these 25 questions on your blog, I’d love to read your answers!

The topic I had planned for today was going to be a full blog summary type post, as a closure / goodbye… but now it will be posted after the giveaway winner announcement instead.

The contest closes tomorrow at midnight so if you haven’t entered yet, it’s your final chance! 🙂

  1. I love reading tags, I haven’t seen them around so much lately but they seemed to pop up all the time a while ago. I love the idea of teleportation but the fact you’re kind of destroying yourself and then a new you being made somewhere else sort of freaks me out! I’ve thought way too much about that in the past 😛 And the dog thing, I’d say second one, but I’d love to see a dog wearing them on all four legs at once!

    1. Yes about 2 years ago, tags were all the rage! They come and go in waves, I think.

Ha, I haven’t thought too much about the mechanics of teleportation and I really do NOT want what happened in the movie The Fly to come true! 😱

Hehe, I think the 2nd one is what I’d say for the dog wearing pants too… but yeah, it would be hilarious to see the 1st option! 😆

  2. LOL some of these answers. I cannot take you seriously…XD But I loved reading these!

Love your idea of a perfect day, that’s pretty close to mine, too! Except, add in ice cream as well.

One other think you should add to the things you like about yourself is your calming voice, haha!

I remember when we met up you said you travelled pretty extensively for your previous job. Did you ever go to the UAE? I’d love to go one day! I’ve only been to 9/21 of the places on that list. Missing a bunch of European cities, but hopefully that will be rectified in the next few years! Hawaii is beautiful (like you said, has anyone come back from Hawaii and said they didn’t like it?) but based on the type of traveller I think you are, it probably wouldn’t become the favourite place you’ve ever visited.

Haha, I threw in #12 just to see if anyone would give an answer that wasn’t Hogwarts! Of course you’d want the makeup gadgets…LOL.

Which subreddits do you frequent the most on Reddit? I’m not a huge Reddit user like my husband is, but every time I Google something that is more opinion-based (eg. best foundation for dry skin), I always tack on “reddit” to the end of my search and read the comments to get ideas haha.

OMG, your conspiracy theory about auto and airline industries actively trying not to advance teleportation technology…mind blown. Hahaha. Honestly, I don’t even want to see anything too fancy, but just to see the widespread use of self-driving cars because I hate driving.

I hope you never post that final blog post, then I can be forever in denial that you’re not blogging anymore!

    1. Ha, I didn’t even think about my calming voice but I’ve had that feedback from the podcast! 😆

Yes, I’ve been to Dubai! It’s very fancy and spendy! It’s so excessive. I got to fly on Emirates to get there and even that experience was so amazing – really makes Air Canada look like a cattle car. 😮 I think we have to be smart about Hawaii – maybe not too much beach / relaxing, mix it with tours and excursions?

Re: Reddit. I’m on Askreddit a LOT. I also visit AsianBeauty, BeautyGuruChatter, MakeupAddiction, MakeupAddictionCanada, MakeupRehab, SkincareAddiction, muacjdiscussion, PanPorn… and Movies 😀 I totally add “reddit” to my google searches to see what people’s opinions are – I do that a lot with movie reviews.

I think self-driving cars will become widely adopted in our lifetime! We just have to pray that the machines won’t take over and enslave us… 🤔

Aww… I will delay that last post till next week, ok? 😘

  3. interesting how your ideal meals didn’t make it into your perfect day… o.0
    & come on… where’s the icecream/gelato/froyo? who u trying to kid 😛

Honolulu’s ok but probably the most plastic part of the Hawaiian islands. Maui is g-o-r-g-e-o-u-s (& hotels WAY more pricey!)… big island’s next on my list 😉

    1. Well I answered that first question about the perfect day and then the favourite meals came later – I didn’t feel like going back and changing my response. 😀 I’m trying to reduce my dairy intake, I think my tummy is happier for it! 😛

Ok, noted to go to Maui! I think I’ll have to convince the SO first…

  4. I have some friends who just visited Hawaii again for the 3rd or 4th time. Obviously they love it. They usually visit Kona and send me a bag of pure Kona coffee (best coffee ever… not even kidding).

Sushi & ramen… I’m down for that! I’ve actually been on an instant ramen kick lately. I love the Maruchan yakisoba.

And I wish Tomorrowland (from the movie) was real. I’d give just about anything to be able to live there.

    Liked by 1 person

    1. My friend told me about Kona coffee after coming back from Hawaii and now he’s a coffee snob! 😛 That stuff is pricey.

Instant ramen has been a guilty pleasure of ours too… we’ve been trying a whole bunch of brands and flavours. We’re fairly pedestrian – we like Nissin cup noodles.

I totally thought about Tomorrowland on that question – would be so neat to live in that world.

      Like

      1. Oh I like Nissin Cup Noodles too. But the Maruchan yakisoba is so yummy. I just had some chicken teriyaki flavor ones for dinner. Their Instant Lunch cup noodles are good too.

  5. Girl…can you please teach me how to be a ninja?! I can 100% say that you are in no way shape or form jaded by your upbringing. I knew none of that and would never have guessed it! I totally agree about the smurfs….awesome!! Also, I thought your name was Stashy 😂. I loved this post! I’m gonna do it.

    Liked by 1 person

    1. Yes do this tag! I would love to read your answers.
Well, I thought my name was Stasheroo! 😉
I went to a job fair straight out of high school to become a ninja. I can’t tell you about the training or else I’d have to kill you… 😆

      Liked by 1 person

  6. Loved this, was so interesting to read! You’re earliest memory made me laugh. I’ve never swallowed a coin either😂 Your perfect day is like mine. Food, shopping, spa. If I could be on holiday whilst doing all of that even better😊 Ramen is one of my favourite foods! When I can find a vegetarian friendly version (broth and all) I’m so happy! Xx

    Liked by 1 person

  7. I feel like neither of those dog pants options incorporate what I deem the basic function of pants! The first one covers the legs, but the second one covers the butt better.

Your teleportation theory is cracking me up, but seriously… when are we going to be able to teleport? As someone who likes to go hiking, nothing would be better than knowing I could quickly get to a decent bathroom if I needed to go 😛

(Also, now I’m thinking about ramen. Mmmmm…. not much is better than a big bowl of ramen.)

    Liked by 1 person

    1. Poor dogs, I guess they weren’t meant to wear pants? What about a skirt?

Yes, teleportation to the nearest washroom would be epic! Or, I feel like authentic ramen, let’s go to Japan!

There’s a huge ramen culture here in Toronto – I was so stoked when so many places sprang up! No longer did I have to be a closet ramen lover. Gone were the days of the negative connotation with instant ramen! 😀

      Liked by 1 person

      1. I feel like that is slowly happening with ramen around here too… there used to be maybe one place you could get ramen in my hometown and now there are 2-3 restaurants that are ramen-specific. Definitely a good change!

        Liked by 1 person

  8. This tag was a blast to read! I learnt so much about you – I didn’t know you were adopted 😲

The Shawshank Redemption is a good movie!

I’d like to be more spontaneous too 🙂

In answer to the first question about the dogs and the pants; option 2.

    Liked by 1 person

    1. I have mentioned on the blog ages about being adopted but I don’t really wear it on my sleeve so I don’t mention it unless I’m doing a tag or other more personal stuff. 😛

Being spontaneous is so scary and appealing at the same time! I worry too much, that’s all…

I agree with you on the dog wearing pants – option 2 makes more sense.

      Liked by 1 person

  9. I love reading tags! Maybe I should do this one so that I will have a newer post finally lol. There were so many things I didn’t know about it. I didn’t know you were adopted and Fifth Element is one of the best movies ever! Just don’t let my SO know that I said that because his star crush is Mila Jovovich 😂

    Liked by 1 person

  10. I absolutely loved getting to know you better through this tag. 🙂

I had no idea that you were adopted.

As for focusing less on academics in high school, I would say that’s not all it’s cut out to be. I did the opposite to you and I strongly wish I had worked harder. I suppose it’s human nature to want to change the way we did things if it didn’t work out quite as we planned. I absolutely agree that getting into university isn’t as important as we think it is when we are in high school though. 🙂 I unexpectedly took two years off studying after high school because I couldn’t get into university and it was the best thing that could have happened. I wasn’t ready then. Things happened on their own time.

I loved your answer about your job/profession where you spoke about being a ninja, by the way! haha 😀

Also, regarding the dog wearing pants, I would go for option 2. 🙂

    Liked by 1 person

    1. I’m glad you enjoyed reading this! 🙂

Yup I’m adopted. I don’t talk about it a lot just because I mostly talk about beauty stuff. 😛

I think it’s just about balance (that word again!) when it comes to being both academic and sociable in high school. We have so much more perspective now, of course! The path we took landed us where we are now, and that’s ok! 🙂

I agree about the dog wearing pants – #2 looks more sensible. 😆

Hehe… the only thing not fun about being a ninja is running on roofs. They look slippery!

      Liked by 1 person

      1. Balance is always the key to everything, I think. Finding a balance is often easier said than done but at the end of the day I think we are most satisfied when we find that equilibrium. 😊

😂😂 You are hilarious! Being a ninja certainly is a dangerous occupation. Thank goodness you are a skilled ninja. 😉 Can’t have you slipping off a roof!

        Liked by 1 person

  11. Totally loved reading this tag! It’s amazing how much I relate to you. I love ramen too, so much so that my laptop password is actually related to it! 🤣🤣🤣 I brought my Mac book in-store to have the screen replaced and so I had to give them my password, haha.

Fifth Element is one of my favourite films growing up! Haven’t seen it in forever though so it’d be good to watch it sometime soon, it’s still so unique.

I wish I wasn’t so serious in school too but I think it’s always easier to judge the past than to think at the time about such things. 😝

    Liked by 1 person

    1. Haha, I try to have really impersonal or random passwords in case I had to give it to someone I wouldn’t be embarrassed! 😆

I just think ramen is such a comforting food! We went to watch the documentary “Ramen Heads” recently and it made me want to go to Japan again! I recommend the documentary if you’re a Ramen Head! 😉

Not a lot of people talk about The Fifth Element anymore but I think it’s such a visually unique movie. I also loved Chris Tucker in it!

      Liked by 1 person

      1. Chris Tucker is in it?? Omg I totally need to watch it again then 🤦😂😂 it’s amazing how you have to watch some films again to look back at some celebrity’s earlier work haha.

I totally agree though about it being visually unique. Am not interested in the sci-fi films they’ve been putting out recently…Just not the same.

  12. This is amazing! Love knowing more about our fellow bloggers.. and the best part is the Bubble Tea! Thats my reward after a very long workweek so I always look forward to Saturdays for Taro Bubble Tea. 😍

    Liked by 1 person

    1. Taro bubble tea is my favourite too! ❤ I also love the red bean one! I try not to drink them too often… maybe once a month. I was craving one last week and we went to ChaiTime but the line up was so long we gave up!

      Liked by 1 person

  13. Wait you have a trucker mouth? That honestly surprised me for some reason – I did not that expect that from you. I also have a trucker mouth, particularly when I’m mad. It just makes me feel better.

That list of the most expensive places to visit is interesting – most of them are in Europe, which makes sense I guess. I know people that went to Hawaii and didn’t love it but in my opinion, they’re weird. It’s the most beautiful place I’ve ever been. There are very few places that I’ve travelled and didn’t like though.

Re: the dog pants question above, I read online that the first one is “technically” the right answer and that bothers me to no end. I think it’s because dogs walk on 4 legs – if it were two the second would be correct. Whatever, the first one just looks WRONG! 😉

    Liked by 1 person

    1. You can experience my trucker mouth on the Beauty Podcast, if you’re so inclined! 😉
      https://stashmatters.com/tag/podcast/

Oh ok so only weird people don’t like Hawaii. Gotcha! I am not a weird person. 😀 Hmm come to think of it, I haven’t absolutely HATED any place I’ve visited since we tend to choose places that we know are aligned with our preferences.

Ha yes I can see how technically the pants cover their legs but I cannot imagine a dog walking around with that contraption! 😆

    1. Thanks Laura! I really hope some not so evil genius is working on teleportation in secret. Fingers crossed!
Shawshank Redemption is one of those movies that I don’t hear people talk about much anymore but I have never heard of anyone not liking it. 🙂

  15. I really loved reading this! I haven’t read a tag post in awhile so this was fun! I also have a trucker mouth, I sensor it a lot online, but my husband once told me that if I keep dropping so many f-bombs the word will lose it’s effect 😂And yesss, why isn’t teleportation become closer to a reality yet? I am totally with you on the conspiracy theory 😂I would love if teleportation was a thing, it would basically eliminate wasting entire days travelling to your destination of choice.

    Liked by 1 person

    1. Your husband has a point about the f-bombs losing their effects! The problem is that we end up escalating and using combo-swear words. 😇
Can you even imagine the possibilities if teleportation was real? I could teleport makeup to someone overseas instantaneously instead of using Canada Post, ugh. 😉

  17. I loved reading your answers. I love when bloggers participate in these types of tags because it gives the readers a chance to get to know the blogger more. My ideal day would be shopping and coffee for sure. I wouldn’t mind my husband tagging along though because he usually convinces me to buy the thing I’m convinced I don’t really need. It makes shopping more fun lol. Otherwise I’d come home with an empty coffee cup.
