I mentioned in my Holy Grail Beauty Products post that I haven’t done many brush reviews so it’s time to remedy that. After quite a delayed gratification (I first spied this brush in May of 2016, when Polished and Inspired came to Toronto for a visit and we pawed at this at Sephora), I was thrilled to add this delightful brush to my collection. You’ve seen glamour shots of it already, but here’s more:
I started using this brush as soon as I bought it in late November – after washing it first – and I want to share my impressions of it here.

June and July 2017 No-Buy-Low-Buy Accountability
I hadn’t planned on being MIA last week but it was my final week at my old job and it was so busy! I ended up having a lot of social engagements last week (goodbyes) – being out every night makes it difficult to blog! Things likely won’t settle down until after Labour Day weekend…
This post is a combined June and July accountability (I know, I’m so late with this!) June was a No-Buy month whereas July is a Low-Buy month. My budget for July was originally $200 but since I slightly overspent back in April, I had to subtract off $1.70 from my budget, leaving me with $198.30 to play with.
I was able to stretch my budget by supplementing with gift cards – plus, I received some birthday presents! 😀
PP12: NYX Powder Blush in Taupe PB11
Happy Halloween! I hope you get sufficiently spooked today and also eat enough candies for a nice sugar high. 😛
Today’s Project Pan item is the NYX Powder Blush in Taupe #PB11:
It was not by accident that this item is featured today – if you’re in a pinch for ghoulish looking hollowed out cheeks for a costume, perhaps a contouring shade like this could help! 😉
Birthday Haul ft Charlotte Tilbury and Shu Uemura
You didn’t think I wouldn’t take advantage of my birthday as an excuse to buy makeup, right? 😛 I’ve been busy the past couple of weeks:
I haven’t gone back to the Charlotte Tilbury counter since my last birthday, so I suppose it’s an annual tradition?
Brands I want to try more of
I saw this topic on Styled by Lauren so I wanted to do my own list too. Since so many of you are listing your Sephora VIB sale shopping lists, I’ll kind of join in with this post even though I won’t be partaking in the VIB sale this time around (*sob*). Next year I’ll be able to indulge in getting these items from brands I want to try more of:
Charlotte Tilbury
The obvious choice. Since this brand’s launch (and debut in Canada in June this year), it’s been a hot brand in the makeup world. I got my grubby little hands on a lipstick via a gift card for my birthday, and I’m itching to try more from the line, namely the Colour Chameleon eye shadow pencil in Dark Pearl, an eye shadow quad, and possibly a blusher.
Surratt Beauty
This brand launched at Sephora this year and I’ve been anxious to try something from it. The first thing I have to get my paws on is their Relevée Lash Curler. I’ve perused the displays and it appears that most of the products are made in Japan – the line does have a Japanese aesthetic to it. I want to try their Artistique Blushes and Eyeshadows – which all fit into custom palettes, I’m a sucker for custom palettes!
Charlotte Tilbury Bitch Perfect lipstick
I mentioned in my belated birthday gifts post that I bought the Charlotte Tilbury lipstick in Bitch Perfect with my Holt Renfrew gift card:
I’ve now had a chance to wear it for a couple of weeks so I can report back on how I like it.
Belated birthday presents
I thought I’d post these belated birthday presents since they’re all beauty related! Since I was away for my actual birthday in July, I received some of my presents later (not the givers’ fault!) Here’s what I received (or purchased with the gift card that I received):
Yeeeeeaaaaah nail polish nail polish nail polish!
