Hauluary 2018 – Online Orders

These are an accumulation of online orders from since late December until now…

Some parcels were shipped from local sources while others came all the way from China and Japan. πŸ™‚

Hauluary 2018 – Post-Holiday Sales

I know, I know. I just posted about makeup decluttering and here I am, showing stuff I’m adding to my hoard.Β  Never did I once say that I wasn’t shopping anymore! (I was just making room? πŸ˜† ) And, I didn’t go as crazy this year with post-holiday sales.

This is called self control in my books! πŸ˜‰

Massive Purge

You may recall that the primary objective of this blog originally was to reduce my beauty stash. ^^’ I had a three-pronged plan:
A) Stop buying more (No-Buy / Low-Buy)
B) Use up what I have (empties aka Trash Stash)
C) Get rid of items that I no longer use (Purges / declutters)

This post is focused on plan of attack C!Β  I’ve been meaning to post this since early 2017 for “Spring cleaning”, but never got my act together to gather all of the items.Β  No time like now, right?Β  πŸ˜‰ This post will mainly consist of photos and product names listed out. It would take too long to provide a description of every single item with an explanation why it is being decluttered. Just look:

I had to stand on a step ladder to take this photo! πŸ˜†

Hold onto your hats!

My Current Holy Grail Beauty Products

Happy New Year! ❀

This post idea came up last year when I posted my yearly favourite discoveries.Β  I did discover some gems in 2017 but I thought it would be more useful for me to list out all my Holy Grail (HG) items instead.

I’m going to force myself to just name ONE item for each category.Β  I feel like embarking on this project is like choosing a favourite child. I love you all equally! ❀ Continue reading

Foundation Application Methods (+ Tools)

It’s been nice reading everyone’s festive holiday posts but this year I just don’t seem to have anything Christmas-y to contribute. I feel like I’ve covered all the Christmas topics in years past – if you’re wanting some festive posts from me, have a read through my Blogmas posts from 2016 and 2015. πŸ™‚ πŸŽ„πŸŽ

When I get the question, “How do you apply your foundation?”Β  I answer, “It depends.”Β  Β I’m not trying to be difficult, because it really depends! πŸ˜›Β  It depends on the foundation that I’m using. It depends on what kind of finish I might be looking for, or the level of coverage I want that particular day.Β  Here’s an overview of methods and tools that I employ to apply foundation.

I’ll also name some foundations that work well with each method.

November 2017 No-Buy-Low-Buy Accountability

It’s been a while since I last did an update on my shopping accountability – the last one was way back in August, actually!Β  That was to cover June and July spending, so that means I haven’t talked about how August to October went. Those 3 months were my No-Buys months, in preparation for Holiday spending.Β  I’m pleased to report that those 3 months I was too busy to think about makeup.Β  At first I was missing the shopping but I got used to it – I even went to a L’Oreal warehouse and walked away with just bar soap:

I got 4 bars of the Kiehl’s Gently Exfoliating Body Scrub Soap in Coriander. It’s the Limited edition by Kate Moross, which is from this year, it seems? One is already in use, as you can see.Β I paid $8 each for these.

So a pat on the back for me! πŸ˜€Β  But, we’re here to talk about November!Β  I essentially did all of my shopping concentrated between the Sephora sale and Black Friday.Β  In addition, I picked up random bits. A LOT of random bits:

There were just so many deals to be had… how could I resist? πŸ˜‡

Black Friday Haul 2017

I succumbed to beauty deals on Black Friday, after all. I didn’t go into Black Friday with any plans (I had taken the day off work) and wasn’t particularly keen on any of the previewed deals shown online. I woke up super early and arrived at the mall even before 7am – I was surprised that there were quite a few shoppers at the mall this year compared to last year. I keep hearing about the death of bricks and mortar stores, in addition to the decline in the enthusiasm for Black Friday sales. But based on my non-scientific observations, it was busier, especially so early in the morning.Β  Here’s what I hauled:

I’m pleased to say that the majority of the items are for replenishment purposes. Of course, some were absolute impulse buys. πŸ˜‰

Sephora VIB Sale Fall 2017 Haul

Finally, I’m posting about my Sephora VIB sale haul! I had early access so I was able to start hauling on Nov 3rd. After the first window of shopping, this is what I ordered:

As mentioned in my shopping list post, I really did not need many things. The ONE item that I really wanted, the Surratt Beauty Artistique Cheek Brush, became out of stock right when the sale started on the Friday!!! I was so annoyed! 😑

Sephora VIB Rouge Sale Shopping List Fall 2017 Edition

Hey! I’m back. πŸ™‚ Just in time for the Sephora sale. In a way, this is a bit of a cheat post since it was much easier to prepare than a review – ease my way back into blogging, right? πŸ˜‰ If you follow me on Instagram, you’ll know that I was on vacation for a portion of my time away from the blog. Here are some more of what I did in the past month:

β€’ Visited some cities in Alberta (Calgary, Banff / Canmore, Jasper and Edmonton) – the Canadian Rockies are truly incredible and I highly a recommend visit! ❀

β€’ Attended my first “by invite only” L’Oreal warehouse sale – don’t get excited, since I was on a No-Buy I didn’t get makeup, but my friend went nuts for the $1 nail polishes. I got several bars of Kiehl’s Coriander exfoliating soaps which were limited edition from Christmas – yay! (Kiehl’s Coriander is one of my all time favourite scents)Β  The most interesting part of attending the sale was seeing all of the brands that L’Oreal owns (besides L’Oreal): Maybelline, Essie, NYX, LancΓ΄me, Shu Uemura, Urban Decay, YSL, Givenchy…

β€’ Went to Canada’s Wonderland (amusement park) to ride the roller coasters – our favourite rides were Leviathan and Behemoth. Fall is the perfect time to visit since it wasn’t too hot and the line-ups weren’t long.

β€’ Donated blood – it’s been years since I last donated because I almost fainted the last time. This time, everything went smoothly, although I did develop a large bruise that’s the width of my arm afterward. :/

β€’ Cleared out old mementos, photos, clothes – justΒ stuffΒ – from our storage locker – there were some hilarious gems… ah memories πŸ˜€Β  We’re doing some significant refurnishing soon so we need to make room – new couch, dining room table / chairs, shelves for the spare bedroom, etc.

β€’ Finally finished the entire series of the Sopranos. It took us about 10 months to get through all 6 seasons (more like 7 seasons since season 6 was split into part 1 and 2). I’m not a fan of this show – I did not like the characters and the story line was only mildly interesting. I was so happy to be done with this show. Guess what? Now we can order Netflix! πŸ˜€ πŸ˜€ πŸ˜€

It feels great to be typing up a blog post again. At this point, I can’t promise that I’ll be posting as frequently as I was previously, but I’ll try my best! πŸ™‚

Onward to the Sephora VIB Fall sale!
