Blogmas Day 4: Snow Themed Makeup
Today is another coordinated Blogmas post where we’re pulling items from our makeup collections to create a snowy makeup look.

To me, a snow themed makeup means 2 things: white and sparkly!
In today’s Throwback Thursday post, I’m showing my MAC Twig lipstick:

The colour in itself isn’t really a throwback, although I’m willing to bet money that the shade has been around since the inception of MAC. But what’s TBT about this lipstick is the bullet. It’s silver. And no, it’s not a limited edition.
This month I seem to have finished up the core components of my face skincare products all at the same time – so odd how that happens.

The sense of accomplishment in finishing up products never gets old!
Most people have maybe 1 or 2 foundations (perhaps a winter shade and one for summer), a couple of concealers (under eye dark circles vs covering blemishes), and a face powder. That’s normal. Why I have amassed this many foundations / powders / concealers (or as I call them, base products), I have no excuse for. I couldn’t even fit everything I own into one frame so here’s a portion of what I’ll be showing today:

I figure I would just lump all my base products including highlighters and bronzers into one post instead of them separating out.
Remember, this is a no judgement zone. 😉
July just flew by! It was my birthday month and I went on a road trip. Here’s what I used up in July:

And here’s what I thought of each – hopefully this will help you if you want to try any of these.
The end of June marks the official mid-point of the year! I’ve always wondered why it’s “Christmas in July” when it really makes more sense to be in June! 💡

It was especially satisfying to finish some of these products this month because many of them I’d been using for a long time.
Happy Canada Day!
In honour of Canada Day, today I’ll showcase some Canadian brands and a few items I own from each.

Lise Watier (Shoppers Drug Mart, online)
LW made her name firstly through her signature perfume, Neiges (which I don’t particularly care for) but has since branched out to colour cosmetics and skincare. I’ve grown fond of her lipsticks, eye shadows, and concealer.
Happy Summer Solstice! Aka the longest day of the year, aka official first day of summer. And I want to remind everyone to wear their sunscreen today, and every day! 🙂

If you’ve been reading this blog for any length of time, you’ll know what I’m an advocate of sunscreen. No other anti-aging skincare is as effective as sunscreen.
There are 2 general categories of sunscreens: 1) chemical and 2) physical (or sometimes referred to as mineral). I personally prefer physical sunscreen (combinations of titanium dioxide [TiO2] and zinc oxide [ZnO]), for a number of reasons:
• much more photostable than chemical sunscreens
• less likely to cause skin reactions
• combined, TiO2 and ZnO covers the entire spectrum of UVB and UVA rays (and you want to protect well against both: UVB causes sunburns but UVA causes aging)
As I’m laying out all my lip stuff in preparation for photography in today’s post, The Boy asks me, “What’s the purpose of all these pictures?”
“They’re to show my whole collection on the blog.” I reply.
“So it’s like… makeup porn?” he asks.
“YUP! You got it!” 😆
My lip stash is probably the least exciting of all of my stashes – the majority of my lip products can fit into one frame:

I’m just not that into lipsticks. I feel bold colours don’t suit my face. I’m also not into matte textures or shimmer, or overly glossy finishes – so it leaves me with a fairly narrow band of comfort zone, as you’ll see in my stash. And I only own 5 MAC lipsticks! (of which 3 are retired) It’s relatively small by comparison to my eye shadow stash (600+) or nail polish stash (400+) That said, I have amassed a lot of lip balms and butter butters.
Here’s the motherlode. I’ve mentioned many times that I have a lot of eye shadows – over 600 – it is the most abundant makeup category that I own. I just love eye shadows and it’s the area of my face that I spend the most time applying makeup. I’ll keep this introduction brief and just let the pictures do the talking.
It took me over 2 hours just to sort and photograph the whole eye shadow collection and probably another 4 to edit everything. Usual disclaimer: this isn’t meant to show off. It was actually quite a beneficial exercise for me to display all my eye shadows visually. Warning: photo heavy post! (50 images)
