A couple of weeks ago I mentioned that I had enough empty containers to redeem for a free face mask and solicited recommendations from you. Thanks for all the suggestions! ๐ I finally got around to a LUSH store – here’s what I walked out with:

I ended up more than I originally planned, but what else is new? ๐
First, a short story: I had actually gone to the LUSH store last week to redeem for my free mask. I made the trek during my lunch break with my coworker, toting my bag of empty containers. I spoke with the helpful SA and got my mask and picked up a couple of other items but was advised that the POS system (Point Of Sale system, not the Piece Of Sh*t system ๐ ) was being rebooted and would be back up in 5 minutes. No biggie. We milled around the store for another 10 minutes and then wentย back to the cashier to see if we could check out. The chick behind the counter had such an attitude with us, telling us curtly she’s not available. We asked when the POS will be back up and she said not sure, but didn’t elaborate. She said she could take cash. I do not carry around that much cash with me! We asked how much longer and finally she said it will be another 30 minutes. We advised her that we’re on our lunch and couldn’t wait around that long! So I had to desert my basket and walked out with all my empty containers and no mask.
Fast forward to yesterday, I finally had time to go back to the mall and lugged back my bag of empties again. This time, success! ๐ The mask I ended up getting:
Catastrophe Cosmetic!ย It normally retails for $8.95 for 60g and I got this for free. ๐ ย This pot was made on May 2nd and expires May 23rd, so it will make an appearance in my May Trash Stash. ย I had no hassles with redeeming my empties as I was worried about. The cashier did make a point to open each and every one of the pots to inspect the insides – she said that some people return them with mould inside!
In my post, I also asked for other recommendations from LUSH and I decided to get 2 hair care products:
Big Shampoo – $27.95 for 325g
Yes this is pricey for a shampoo but I’ve heard such raves for it. And I love me some bouncy voluminous hair so let’s see how this works for me! ๐
No Drought – $8.95 for 55g (also available in 130g for $15.95)
This was also recommended to me in that post and I do like loose powder for dry shampoo versus the aerosol type.
The SA recommended the Veganese Hair Conditioner, which does seem nice but I’m worried it may weigh down my hair so she provided a sample for me to test out first.
Then, I spotted the Mother’s Day items… I really wanted the limited edition Shower Jelly called Pink Custard, but of course, it wasn’t available on its own. So I had to – just HAD to – get this set:
Yes, I bought myself a gift set. ๐ This set is simply called “Thanks Mom” and sells for $35.95

The set includes:
โข Pink Custard Shower Jelly ($7.95 for 100g)
โข Ro’s Argan Body Conditioner (value of $7.20 for 45g)
โข Serendipity Soap ($7.95 for 100g)
โข Charity Pot ($7.95 for 50g – 100% of the purchase price of this goes to charity!)
Hmmm the total value works out to be $31.04 which is less than the selling price of the set. I suppose the wrapping accounts for the rest of it? ๐ *shrug* ย I gave the Charity Pot to my friend since she liked it a lot. ย I’m also pleased to have gotten Ro’s Argan Body Conditioner – it smells amazing, and I’m hoping it’s not useless like the Turkish Delight Shower Smoothie. ๐ณ
At least I got the Pink Custard Shower Jelly. It smells so good!
If you’re still on the hunt for a Mother’s Day present, LUSH offers an assortment of goodies:
See the full list here.

Have you tried any of the items that I got from LUSH?
Funny about the price of the set but that Pink Custard does look lush (no pun intended)๐

Yes it does look LUSH! XD
I was surprised that the value didn’t match the price…

Ooh I loved looking at your pics! I’ve still yet to try Lush, but that pink jelly is calling to me. LOL. Looks like amped-up Pepto Bismol.
And I always read POS as piece o’… Can’t help it.
Gift sets are super fun! Esp if you buy it for yourself ๐

Yes, that Pink Custard totally looks like Pepto Bismol put into a Jello mould!
Haha yes my first thought about POS of that – it’s how our minds work! ๐
Perhaps you can show your DH the LUSH site or this post? *wink*

Hahaha! I should but he leaves all that stuff up to me. Maybe I should be like, “Oh but we can share…” ๐

Glad my team packaged it up nice for you!
Urgh that price for the set is terrible, not much of an incentive to not do a DIY job though!
The one product I have been intrigued about from Lush is the Ro’s Body conditioner!

Yes good job team Rachel / Rachael! ๐
In LUSH’s defense, I do have to say that the quality of the paper / ribbon / wrapping job were very good. If I was truly going to give this away as a gift, it would be perfect.
When I was inside the LUSH store, I couldn’t properly smell the Roโs Argan Body Conditioner. Only when I got home, I could really smell it and it is divine!

I don’t really shop at LUSH often and I’ve never bought a bath bomb because I don’t take baths! ๐ I do love their Shower Jellies though! ๐

Pink Custard looks like Pepto Bismol! How awesomeeee. Not weird that you got a Mother’s Day gift set for yourself at all!
I’ve heard many good things about Ro’s Argan Body Conditioner. Fingers crossed you love it!
Ugh, so gross that people would return their empties with mold in them. How inconsiderate!

Yes it really does look like Pepto Bismol! XD Haha, I see nothing wrong with gifting myself pretty wrapped presents. ๐
I’m glad at the very least that the Ro’s Argan Body Conditioner smells really nice – here’s hoping it actually does something on the body!
Yeah, I didn’t even THINK that people would return gross containers back to LUSH – have they no shame?

I don’t like Lush’s hair products because they’re all too damn pricey! But I loooove their face masks. I haven’t tried that Catastrophe Cosmetic but my personal favorite from them is the Mask of Magnaminty. You should check it out if you haven’t :p

I’ve had Mask of Magnaminty recommended to me before but my skin is sensitive to peppermint so I’m not sure it would enjoy that. Maybe I should ask for a sample to test out.

Ooh I’ve wanted to try Pink Custard. How does it smell? On Mother’s Day in the UK I got myself some of the things for mums, despite not being one๐ You got the facs mask! Hope it works well for you x

Pink Custard smells like sweet vanilla and chocolate pudding. So yum! โค
I still get confused with the UK vs other Mother's Day.
I used the face mask last night and WOW it makes my face SO soft and smooth. I'm going to try using it nightly to see how it goes. No reaction to it whatsoever. Thanks again for the recommendation! ๐

Oh that sounds so good! Yeah Mother’s Day was March here. Everywhere else is a lot later. No problem. I used it every other night and no reactions๐ x

I think it’s available online still! You might want to call the store before going. It smells so good… they said it’s tonka and vanilla.

I love the Charity Pot! Used mine up ages ago but I don’t get to Lush very often (closest one is a 20-30 minute drive one way). I like their Tea Tree Toner Water quite a bit. The bubblegum lip scrub is really nice too.

The Charity Pot smells so nice! It’s a bit greasy though. My friend loves it so I’m happy to give it to her.
I’ve heard from a few people who like their toners – I’ll have to look at them once I use up more of what I have.

I have the no drought dry shampoo and love it! I bought such a long time ago and still half the bottle left so it is def. worth your price! ๐

That’s what I was thinking – the bottle will last AGES since you don’t need that much each time. I think those aerosol ones are very expensive for how many uses you get out of them. I hope this works well for me! ๐

I love it that you bought yourself “thanks mom”.
Actually, if that POS (piece of shit wahaha so appropiate Stashy) didn’t crash the first time. Those 10min shop around moments may have caused more danger. You have shown very good self control *LOL*

That’s true, we probably would have bought more stuff we didn’t need! ๐
I was going to buy a shower gel and then put it back because I’ve got so many shower gels in my closet from Bath & Body Works that I picked up in January… ๐ณ

Unfortunately I find the LUSH gift boxes are not a great value. The total value of the products never exceeds the purchase price. Something that’s prevented me from ever buying one!

I learned the hard way. I honestly thought they would be cheaper to buy in a set than separately and was surprised when I did the math. I guess it’s good if you really wanted something included that was limited edition (like I did for the Pink Custard shower jelly) or for the nice wrapping job.

LUSH is such a gorgeous shop look and product wise but it’s never set me alight. I purchased a gift set for my friend last year as well as some items for myself but I’ve never used them. I’m hoping they’re not past their best, they’re all sealed and everything. I pretty much never have a bath as it takes so much effort lol

Have a check! Usually their products have a 12 month expiry but some are longer. I did once have a hair treatment from them that I used well past the stated expiry but it was completely fine – smelled fine and didn’t grow any mould!

What about the bath bombs? They are all securely wrapped too! Good to know, thanks for your wisdom as always ๐

Awesome LUSH haul! If you don’t mind me asking, what is your hair like? Hair type/style? I will be making an appearance to LUSH soon since I need me some new cleanser.

I have wavy hair – it’s quite heavy and somewhat slippery. I have an average amount of hair but each strand of my hair is thick. My hairdresser says my hair is fairly indestructible.. I don’t get split ends but they do get dried out if I don’t get a trim every 6 months. My scalp gets oily so I wash daily (plus, I never feel clean if I don’t wash my hair daily). My hair style is like a tousled beachy wave (at least that’s what I’m going for!) – my dual concerns are products that prevent frizz and don’t weigh down my hair. ๐

My top 3 products from them are the Mask of Magnaminty, Mint Julips lip scrub, and Grease Lightning. I’m curious about the dry shampoo.

I’ve had the Mint Julips lip scrub before and I quite liked it. I even made my DIY own version of it. I’ve not heard of Grease Lightning – I’ll have to look into it!

Great haul, I’ve not tried any of these although Pink Custard looks fun! Shame about the customer service, I know in the UK you have to memorise so many products and it’s quite a competitive job so the workers tend to be really nice ๐

Only the cashier wasn’t good, but the SA was very helpful! And she knew her stuff. I also love it when they try the products on me – such personal attention. ๐
