China Glaze Change Your Altitude

This was part of the China Glaze Fall 2015 “The Great Outdoors” collection that was all about camping. There were many beautiful shades in the collection and I was happy to have found this at Winners (or Marshalls, I forget now!) in January.

New Revlon Mascaras: Ultimate All-in-One and Volume + Length Magnified

I guess I’m on a drugstore kick lately, yesterday with the Maybelline SuperStay foundation, and today I’m reviewing 2 Revlon mascaras from their recent revamp of their mascara offering:

Ultimate All-in-One (red cap)
Volume + Length Magnified (blue cap)

I can’t remember the last time I bought a Revlon mascara. Maybe the Grow Luscious? That was years ago! And it never appealed to me enough to repurchase it. To me, Revlon excel at a lot of products – foundation, lipstick, nail polish – but mascaras are not one of their strengths.  And mascaras are cash cows for cosmetics companies – how frequently do we (“have to”) replace mascaras, and how many mascaras do we seem to have open at once (if you have just ONE mascara open right now, please comment below, and I don’t believe you!)  It’s a very lucrative market at the drugstore – just look at how wide the assortment is, and how often companies launch new mascaras.

Maybelline SuperStay Better Skin Foundation

Earlier this year, when I asked for suggestions for what to redeem for during the Optimum Points Redemption event, the Maybelline SuperStay Better Skin Foundation was a recommendation by Kazzmarie. I originally selected the shade 20 Classic Ivory, but then I was worried it was too light, so I exchanged it unopened for the next shade up, 25 Nude Beige.

It normally retails for C$17.99 for 30ml.

Lip Oils: Clarins, Sephora, and Lancome

This is a post that was inspired by Polished and Inspired! I had shown 2 lip oils in my last favourites post and she asked of the lip oils that I own, which do I prefer most. That got me thinking – perhaps I should do a comparison post! Thanks for the blog post idea! 😉

I own 3 lip oils which will be featured today, listed in the order in which I acquired them:

Review: Essie Gel Couture Pinned Up & Top Coat

Finally, Essie comes out with their version of the “gel” nail polish. I normally dismiss gel polishes that do not require UV lamps. I’ve paid close attention to reviews on the recent slew of “gel” polish releases that tout: Amazing shine! Smooth finish! Long wearing!  Ultimately, they turn out to not to be any different than regular nail polishes. Except they’re more expensive – I call that a money grab! :/ I started to pay attention when Essie’s new Gel Couture collection was making the rounds online and, one after one, the reviews were coming in with raves about how long wearing it was. Essie is one of my favourite polish brands, so I just had to try it for myself!

After much deliberation, I landed on #60 “Pinned Up” as my test subject.  I set out to wear this for 2 weeks.

Mary Kay haul and Review of Lash Intensity Mascara and Lash Primer

I have a friend who sells Mary Kay and knows about my makeup addiction – she reads this blog!  So when Mary Kay launched a new, much-raved about mascara, she informed me that I must try it. Of course, I had to place an order. But wouldn’t you know it, the mascara is such a hit that they were back ordered. 😦  After about a 2 week delay, I finally received the mascara, along with a few other goodies:

Lash Primer
• Lash Intensity Mascara
Mineral Eye Colour in Rosegold
Rose Gold Limited Edition compact
• Undereye Corrector

She gave me the eye shadow and lash primer for free. 🙂 I’ve decided that I’m not counting mascaras toward my Low-Buy because I replace them so frequently. And um, that under eye corrector, let’s call it part of my birthday haul, ok? 😉  The Undereye Corrector is a new product too, and I’ll be devoting an entry to review that.

So, the mascara that prompted me to place this order – how did it perform?

OPI Go With The Lava Flow

I’ve challenged myself to commit to one nail polish post per week, since I’ve got so many untrieds in my stash! I change my nail polish on a weekly basis but I’m not always disciplined enough to take photos of the manicure. I’m hoping to change that! This week I’m sharing with you the mani that I wore last week, OPI Go With The Lava Flow.

This shade was part of the OPI Hawaii collection from Spring 2015. I picked this polish up for $5 when I hauled a bunch of OPIs.

Too Faced Born This Way Concealer

I prioritized this review since this concealer is launching this month here in Canada.

The official name of the concealer is Too Faced Born This Way Naturally Radiant Concealer, and is an extension to the Born This Way Foundation.  I was able to purchase this in advance of the launch date during a pre-launch event. I’ve been wearing this concealer for the past 2 weeks in various conditions and trying different methods. Here are my thoughts.

Essie Maximillian Strasse-Her

I have to give full credit to Anne of Doves and Roses for putting this nail polish on my radar.  I had never heard of this colour until I saw it on her blog, just look at this pretty thing:
essie_maximillian_strasse-her_6
Essie describes this shade as a “cool Grey-Green”, which is fairly accurate. This shade was part of the Spring 2013 collection called “Madison Ave-Hue” with shades named after shopping areas around the world. Names in the collection include “Go Ginza” (Tokyo), and “Avenue Maintain” (Paris). The name of this polish refers to the shopping area in Maximilianstraße, Munich. It appears that this particular shade made it over to the permanent line as it is still readily available.
