Optimum Points Redemption Extravaganza!

Since everyone is posting their Black Friday loot, I thought I’d post my Optimum Points Spend Your Points loot!  I did go into Shoppers Drug Mart (SDM) armed with a shopping list, let’s see how well I did sticking to the plan:

Firstly, I ended up redeeming for $300 worth of products instead of $200. I had accumulated more points since hitting the top tier a little while back. And since I’ve been positively deprived of new beauty products all year long (too dramatic?) that I went all out and depleted my Optimum Points balance. It was worth it! 😀

I had to hit up 2 SDMs to get everything since the first store didn’t have the Benefit Rockateur left in stock. Also, neither locations stocked any of the new Clinique Cheek Pop colours (I wanted either Nude, Fig or Heather). I was also toying with getting a lipstick from Anna Sui but they didn’t carry the brand at those locations.  And I decided not to redeem for any skincare since it’s more fun to redeem for makeup! 😛

Guerlain Meteorites 04 Doré $71
• Clinique Pop Lip Colour in #2 Bare Pop $21
Clarins Instant Light Lip Comfort Oil in Honey $23
The Guerlain and Clinique were on my original list, but for the Clinique lipstick I decided on the Bare Pop rather than the Melon Pop – it’s a more wearable colour for me. The Clarins lip oil has been on my radar for months and I thought it’ll be good for the upcoming colder weather.

Smashbox Double Exposure Palette $60
Smashbox Photo Finish Primer Water $37
I wanted to redeem for a palette and it was a toss up between this one or one of the Stila ones. I felt that the colours in this one were more different from what I already own in my collection – and I like that the shadows can be used wet.  The primer water is totally Ingrid’s fault, I blame her.  I hope I like it!

Benefit Rockateur Box o’ Powder Blush $36
Shiseido Sheer and Perfect Compact in b20 $38
Shiseido Luminizing Satin Eye Color Trio in BR213 Nude $42
The Benefit Rockateur blush was on my original list, but neither of the Shiseido items were. These 3 were redeemed at the 2nd SDM location and at this point I just could not decide what to choose! I played around with some cream blushes (Stila Convertible Colour in Peony or Bourjois cream blush 04 Sweet Cherry almost made it into my basket) but then I spotted the Shiseido Sheer and Perfect powder, which is the corresponding powder to one of my HG foundations, so I had to get that.  The Shiseido eye shadow trio I mainly got to blend with some of the other Shiseido trios I already own – the colours are all staples, and the textures are just divine.

(I may have gone slightly over $300 😛 ) The SDM sales associates who helped me were lovely and patient even though it was quite busy in the Beauty Boutiques, understandably!  I wonder what is the most popular item that people redeem for?

So how did I do? Did you redeem for anything?

  1. So impressive that you got all of this using points! I’ve never tried any Smashbox eyeshadows but that palette looks really lovely! And those Gerlain meteorites? I’ll definitely be looking forward to your review on that! Great haul! 🙂

    1. It IS kind of crazy these were all on points. Basically I got these for buying shaving foam, razors, pads / tampons, toothpaste, laundry detergent etc! lol
I’m looking forward to trying everything! I will post reviews for sure. 🙂

    1. I don’t own many palettes because usually I can’t see myself using all of the colours in a palette, but this one looks very usable! I’ll be testing them out in the upcoming weeks. Yay, new pretties to play with!

  2. Well done! Too bad you had to wait until near the end of your no-buy for the big haul. I also depleted all my points for $200. I got the Paul and joe gel foundation and case which looks so prettyon my vanity next to my new meteorites.

      1. Seriously I love it !!! Everything you bought is on my radar with the exception of the Double Exposure palette. I bought the Full Exposure and returned it because it was very average , so I’m anxious to read your review on this one !!! Superb Haul 😀 (Very jealous !!!)

        1. I looked at the Full Exposure and the top row of that one is SO glittery – I passed on that one immediately. The Double Exposure is a dry / wet formula so they feel very smooth and buttery. I haven’t tested them yet but I will report back!

  3. Oooh boy, what a haul! You sure picked up some good stuff, especially considering it was all using points. That Clinique lipstick looks like a beauty, and I’m envious of your Guerlain Meteorites! Looking forward to hearing more about some of these products 🙂

    1. I can’t wait to play with everything! I also can’t wait to accumulate more points – haha considering I racked up the points buying everyday household stuff I needed anyway! Yes, I’ll do reviews on everything once I’ve had a chance to test them for a good amount of time. 🙂

    1. Yeah too bad about the Clinique – I think it was probably a Sephora exclusive. The Clinique counters were quite bare at Shoppers. Yes, this was a good way toward the end of my No-Buy to reward myself. 😀

  4. Wow you got such great stuff! It makes it even better that you got these through points 🙂 You’re going to have to let me know how you like the primer water..I’ve been wanting to try that for a while now!

  6. Great haul! I didn’t cash in my points because I only had $10 worth! I don’t go to SDM / Pharmaprix as often as I used to because the Jean-Coutu is closer to my place. However, if I am making a huge re-stocking of necessities, then I will make a special trip.

    1. Does Jean-Coutu offer any points programs? I literally have 3 SDM within walking distance by me so it’s the closest places for me to shop for necessities like detergent or toothpaste. We don’t shop at big box stores or Walmart much so Shoppers or Loblaws really are my go to places to shop.

  7. Awesome haul! It is so fantastic to get so much HE beauty stuff for “free” after just shopping for toiletries 🙂 Although I do buy some groceries at SDM, now, too.

That Smashbox palette looks amazing and very usable. And yay, another Meteorites! I toyed with it but didn’t get one, in the end.

    I’ll post my haul soon!

    1. We sometimes buy milk at Shoppers but we still do the bulk of our shopping at Loblaws. I hope one day the PC and Optimum will merge forces and because a super points program! I have redeemed PC points for Joe Fresh stuff before!
Can’t wait to see your haulage! 😀

      1. I think it’d be nice if they merged them, as well (I do a lot of grocery shopping at No Frills). Hopefully they keep the Optimum redemption program as good as it currently is. I’m just waiting for Joe Fresh nail polish to show up at SDM. I can’t be bothered to trek out to a JF location :p
