So it was suggested that I put my skincare routine up for scrutiny since I was so ruthless in my grading of my friends’ skincare routines. No problem, I’ve not nothing to hide!
Skin type: combination (slightly oily t-zone, normal cheeks), with hormonal breakout on chin. I also have skin sensitivity and tend to break out in hives randomly (allergies, cold/hot weather). My skin also doesn’t tolerate too much manual manipulation (ie scrubs) I’m a delicate flower, what can I say?
Current skin care routine:
Morning:
Cleanser: Philosophy Purity Made Simple
Toner: Reviva Labs Lindenflower Facial Spray
Serum: NeoStrata Hydra-Infusion 24 Hr Hydrating Serum
Moisturizer: Clinique Dramatically Different Moisturizing Lotion+
Eye cream: Kiehl’s Midnight Recovery Eye and Shiseido Sun Protection Eye Cream SPF32
Sunscreen: Lise Watier SunSmart Universal UV Shield SPF30
Evening:
Makeup Remover: Super Facialist Vitamin C+ Brighten Skin Renew Cleansing Oil for full face, followed by Rimmel Gentle Eye Makeup Remover
Cleanser: Yves Rocher Micellar Cleansing Water
Toner: Body Shop Vitamin E Hydrating Toner
Moisturizer: Shiseido Bio-Performance Advanced Super Revitalizing Cream
Eye cream: Shiseido Benefiance WrinkleResist24 Intensive Eye Contour Cream
Serum: Argan oil
Others (weekly treatments):
1. Exfoliation: Paula’s Choice RESIST Weekly Resurfacing Treatment with 10% AHA (once a week), Up&Up Exfoliating cotton rounds with the Body Shop Vitamin E for light manual exfoliation (once a week)
2. Blemish control: Paula’s Choice Clear Regular Strength Anti-redness Exfoliating Solution with 2% Salicylic Acid, and Neutrogena Oil-free Acne Stress Control 3-in-1 Hydrating Acne Treatment (twice a week, focusing on t-zone)
3. Anti-aging: Shiseido Bio-Performance Super Corrective Serum for eye area (nightly), Avène Eluage Cream for laugh lines and forehead (3x a week), Paula’s Choice Resist C15 Super Booster mixed with argan oil (once a week)
4. Various sheet masks (once a week)
Go ahead. Grade me. 😉
Do any of you use the same products as me? What’s your skincare routine like?
PS. I am actually in the market for a new night time eye cream , any recommendations you have would be greatly appreciated!
Oh my goodness. This puts my ‘routine’ to shame! I am a nightmare for treating my skin. I must say I have used the body shop vitamin E range before and it is lovely. 😁

Aw, it’s never too late to start! If you want, you can email me your routine and I can recommend some products! I can grade you if you wish too, lol.

My routine is pretty much the products in my ‘B. using these products gurl’ post. I do use coconut oil to take off my eye make up sometimes and I use the occasional face mask, but other than that i’m a naughty girl! x

At least you remove your makeup properly! That’s better than some people. 😉

YES! That is my biggest skin care peev. I can’t bear to sleep with make up on. Ewwwwww 🙂

Your routine looks great and similar to mine in terms of number of products. I use the AHA from PC too 🙂 Jay x

Thank you! I’d say PC is the queen of AHA/BHA!

I love the bodyshop Vitamin E toner! I find others I’ve used (even expensive ones) just have a stripping, alcohol feel to them but this doesn’t. You have a lot of other products that I haven’t even heard of so I must go an check them out xxx

Yes, I normally am not loyal to any particular toner but the Vitamin E one is a keeper! I hope you get a chance to try some of the products mentioned. 🙂

I am no expert on skincare! I am a bit flaky when it comes to a routine, as well. I do love the philosophy purity for washing at night (it removes most makeup for me, too, if I am lazy to use a separate remover).

I haven’t tried it to remove makeup, I find that cream based cleansers usually aren’t enough to remove my waterproof sunscreen / mascara, that’s why I use the oil cleanser. I should give the Philosophy a try just to see if it works.

It works pretty well for me since I don’t usually use waterproof makeup (except for mascara, but I use a makeup remover for it). I’m pretty happy with purity, since I have dry skin and can’t deal with most non-creamy cleansers, and like you said, those often don’t clean as well!

I’ve been really interested in testing some Shiseido skincare lately and I see they feature in your routine – do you have full reviews of any of the products? 🙂

I have a short mini review of the Shiseido face cream and eye cream here:
https://stashmatters.wordpress.com/2015/02/02/night-time-skincare-winter-edition/
I did state in that post that I will have a more detailed post coming in a future entry… but I have yet to do one! I will schedule a more detailed review soon, I promise!

Lol delicate flower! 😂 You’re routine looks very well rounded. I still haven’t added a retinol.

No rush to add retinol, your skin looks great right now. It’s only really needed if you feel you have fine lines to combat.

Lol I do! You guys just can’t see them. I have the angry eyebrow lines and smile lines. My mom used to tell me to relax my facial expressions so I wouldn’t get wrinkles! Lol yah that didn’t happen.

Well if I can’t see your lines then they don’t exist! 😉 The smile lines are expression lines – it means you like to laugh a lot!

Great products! By the way, a dupe for the Purity Made Simple Cleanser is the Neutrogena Fresh Foaming Facial Cleanser! It’s my holy grail 🙂

Good skincare routines! How is that neutrogena acne product? I had it and never used it!

I like it a lot! I use it on my t-zone (esp nose / chin) for light hydration and it works well to combat blemishes. I read somewhere that it’s being discontinued! 😦 I haven’t seen them in stores in a while but I have a backup in my stash.

Ok thanks! I got mine off of drugstore.com a while back. Maybe check there!

Wowww, your skin must be on point! This puts me to shame. How long have you had this routine and do you notice great differences? I tried Clinique 3-step a few years ago, but I was allergic and my eye area swelled up completely!! I had to return it. I always thought the moisturiser looked so nice though. It reminds me of lemon curd or something!

People compliment me on my skin on a fairly regular basis, so I think I must be doing something right! My friends and coworkers want me to list what skincare I use so that they can use it too – but since everyone’s skin and requirements are different, it’s hard to have them simply adopt my own routine as their own.
Did you ever find out what ingredient(s) you were allergic to? I know that my skin doesn’t tolerate menthol, orange peel oil or corn oil well, so I read labels and avoid them.
I really do love that Clinique moisturizer even though it’s a controversial product!
