Non-beauty Japan Haul

Here’s a bit of a throw back Thursday post. It’s been nearly 2 months since I returned from Japan!  Here are some non-beauty bits I picked up from Japan.

I didn’t do much clothing shopping in Japan. There wasn’t a ton there that I couldn’t get here at home. Although, I was a big fan of their style: the standard outfit consisted of elastic waist a-line skirt and a loose boxy top, worn with platform wedge sandals or Birkenstocks. It was all about comfort! 🙂

I was so excited to stumble on the Liberty of London x Uniqlo while I was there! I ended up buying 2 items from the collection:

“Relaco” culottes – these are so comfy! (culottes are very popular in Japan, I noticed)

Unlabeled Mystery OPI Nail Polish (Help Me ID It!)

I showed this unlabeled OPI polish in my birthday haul recently:

I applied this on my toes over the weekend and it’s bugging the heck out of me that I don’t know what the colour is. There was no label on the bottle. Can you help me identify it?

Stashmatters Muji Giveaway Goodies!

Check out ClassicMaggie’s thoughts of the MUJI items she received in my recent giveaway!

Classic Maggie

Giveaway Goodies! (1)

A few weeks ago I was lucky enough to win Stashmatter’s Muji Giveaway!  Yay me!  And yay Stashy for hosting such a generous giveaway on her blog – I felt very fortunate to win.  🙂  And of course I had to do a post sharing all the wonderful Muji things I won.  I’ve never even heard of this brand prior to Stashy’s giveaway so I was/am pretty excited to test these all out!

muji eyemask and purse hook

First up, this super soft cotton eye mask and nifty purse hook.  I typically get anxiety on overnight flights and wearing an eye mask tends to help me with that, as well as falling asleep.   And the purse hook is a genius invention of course, because who wants to put their purse on the disgusting floor?

Here’s my absolute favourite item out of the bunch – this Cheek Colour in Pink.  Please excuse the nail indent –…

Mary Kay haul and Review of Lash Intensity Mascara and Lash Primer

I have a friend who sells Mary Kay and knows about my makeup addiction – she reads this blog!  So when Mary Kay launched a new, much-raved about mascara, she informed me that I must try it. Of course, I had to place an order. But wouldn’t you know it, the mascara is such a hit that they were back ordered. 😦  After about a 2 week delay, I finally received the mascara, along with a few other goodies:

Lash Primer
• Lash Intensity Mascara
Mineral Eye Colour in Rosegold
Rose Gold Limited Edition compact
• Undereye Corrector

She gave me the eye shadow and lash primer for free. 🙂 I’ve decided that I’m not counting mascaras toward my Low-Buy because I replace them so frequently. And um, that under eye corrector, let’s call it part of my birthday haul, ok? 😉  The Undereye Corrector is a new product too, and I’ll be devoting an entry to review that.

So, the mascara that prompted me to place this order – how did it perform?

Birthday Haul ft Charlotte Tilbury and Shu Uemura

You didn’t think I wouldn’t take advantage of my birthday as an excuse to buy makeup, right? 😛 I’ve been busy the past couple of weeks:

I haven’t gone back to the Charlotte Tilbury counter since my last birthday, so I suppose it’s an annual tradition?

Back to MAC again!

I mentioned in my recent Misc. Makeup Purge post that I have enough MAC empties to Back to MAC. I’ve been saving these since last year and I actually have enough for TWO items! (6 empties = 1 product) 😀  Here’s what will be going back to MAC:
BacktoMAC_2016_2
Clockwise from upper left hand corner:
1) Studio Sculpt Defining Powder (review here)
2-3) Cleanse Off Oil (2)
4) Tendertone in Hot ‘n’ Saucy (shown here)
5) Fluidline in Ostentatious
6) Pro Longwear Concealer in NC20 (shown here)
7) In Extreme Dimension Mascara
8) Lipgelée in Moistly
9) Paints in Magrittes
10) Prep+Prime Transparent Finishing Powder (mentioned here)
11) Mineralize Skinfinish Natural in Medium (shown here)
12) Cremeblend Blush in Something Special

In Canada, we have the option of trading for either a lipstick, Lipglass or an eye shadow at stand-alone MAC stores. I dislike MAC’s Lipglasses so I’m not redeeming for that. Since I get to choose two items, why not get one of each of a lipstick and an eye shadow? 😉  Similar to the last time when I redeemed for a MAC lipstick (I ended up with Party Line), I’d like your input on what I should get!

Miscellaneous Makeup Purge

You may recall that last year I did an epic makeup purge!   And earlier this year I posted a base makeup and a lip product purge – the common theme on those 2 product categories is that they’re liquid items, with typically shorter lifespan than powders.  Today I have a mixture of various product categories including eye, lip, and skincare products – many of which are also liquid or gel formulas.
purge2016_misc_1
The reason why these are in a separate purge post rather than included in my Trash Stash is because none of these items are finished / empty. Some items I loved but are too old to use anymore. Sadly, the majority of them will go into the garbage!

OPI Go With The Lava Flow

I’ve challenged myself to commit to one nail polish post per week, since I’ve got so many untrieds in my stash! I change my nail polish on a weekly basis but I’m not always disciplined enough to take photos of the manicure. I’m hoping to change that! This week I’m sharing with you the mani that I wore last week, OPI Go With The Lava Flow.

This shade was part of the OPI Hawaii collection from Spring 2015. I picked this polish up for $5 when I hauled a bunch of OPIs.

Summertime Skin Essentials

We’ve been experiencing one of the hottest summers on record here in Toronto! Summertime skin for me, means: protection, hydration and oil control. Here are the items that I’ve been using to help my skin battle the summer heat:

I’ll do mini reviews on each of these since some of them are fairly recent acquisitions.
