It’s the start of May and normally I should have my Trash Stash up but I’m a bit delayed as this weekend was spent celebrating my SO’s birthday. So here’s my Sephora VIB Sale haul instead. 😉
As I anticipated, I didn’t haul very much for the Sephora VIB sale this time around and pretty much stuck to my shopping list.
I got:
• Lavanila The Healthy Deodorant in Vanilla – $17 $14.09
I noticed that it appears Sephora Canada no longer stocks the grapefruit or coconut scents! I have them on my “loves” list but now they state “this item does not ship to Canada”. So my only scent option is Vanilla. I also noticed that this item sold out by around day 4 of the sale – thank goodness I grabbed it on day one.
• Farmacy New Day Gentle Exfoliating Grains – $40 $33.15
Replenish my recently finished sample of this (foreshadowing for my upcoming Trash Stash post! 😉 )

• Bite Beauty Agave Lip Balm – $20 $16.58
This is already in use and in my purse. 😀
• Sephora Collection Face Mask in Green Tea and Rose – $8 each $6.63 each
I said I’d 100% buy both of these and I did!
• Sephora Favorites Give Me Some Nude Lip – $33 $27.35
Yup, I did it. This was on my 50% likelihood I’ll buy list but with so many comments encouraging me to get it (some of the comments were in my head, to be sure) I decided to grab this and I’m so glad I did. What an amazing set. 😀
The set contains:
• Too Faced Melted Matte Liquified Lipstick in Queen B 2.3 mL (mini)
• Buxom Full-On Lip Cream in White Russian 1.55g (mini)
• Marc Jacobs Beauty Le Marc Lip Crème in #246 Slow Burn 1.7g (mini)
• Bite Beauty Amuse Bouche Lipstick in Honeycomb 1.55g (mini)
• Urban Decay Vice Lipstick in 1993 Comfort Matte 3.4g (full size)
• Estée Edit The Barest Contour lip Liner in #05 In The Buff 0.25g (full size)
I really wasn’t paying close enough attention to what this set actually contains, because I didn’t realize it contain not one, but TWO items that had been on my wish list. As pointed out by Molly of The Rose Beauty Files, it contains Buxom White Russian, which I’ve wanted to try for ages. But, it also contains the UD Vice in 1993, which Robyn of Lipstick on the Lake raves about. Now I have it!
And did you see, there’s a new Give Me Some Nude Lip set out?
It only came out after the VIB Sale, and does include a few items I’ve been wanting to try, but I prefer the set I got (which is still available).
These few items weren’t on my shopping list but you know how it goes…
• Anastasia Beverly Hills Empty 4 Well Refillable Eye Palette x2 – $1 each
I mentioned that I really like the empty palettes in my review of the Anastasia Beverly Hills eye shadows. And with the VIB sale discount, these were $0.85 each! 😮
• Sephora Collection Colorful Eyeshadows in Hollywood Calling, Pop Idol, and June Gloom – $7 each $5.80 each
I always like to check the sale section online before I check out and I saw that Sephora is clearing out a lot of colours of their eye shadows. You’ve seen me haul these before – I guess they’re a weakness of mine. I already own a bunch of these and I find the quality is quite good. I’ve been eyeing both Hollywood Calling and Pop Idol for a while – and I just liked the name June Gloom. 😛
And, I did offer my discount to my friends and ended up placing 4 separate orders online, so I got quite a few samples:
• Living Proof Perfect hair Day Shampoo & Conditioner
• Kate Somerville Dry Skin Saver
• Briogeo Don’t Despair Repair Deep Conditioning Mask
• Fresh Soy Face Cleanser
• Fresh Rose Hydrating Eye Gel Cream
• Tata Harper Regenerating Cleanser
• Peter Thomas Roth Water Drench Hyaluronic Cloud Cream
• L’Occitane Precious Cream
• Bumble and bumble Hairdresser’s Invisible Oil Shampoo & Conditioner
• Glamglow Supermud Clearing Treatment
• Guerlain Mon Guerlain perfume
• Philosophy Amazing Grace Eau de Toilette
Here are the items I purchased on behalf of my friends, if you’re curious:
• Clinique Rinse-Off Foaming Cleanser x2
• bareMinerals Complexion Rescue Tinted Hydrating Gel Cream
• Origins GinZing Refreshing Eye Cream
• Beauty Blender
• Bobbi Brown Blush Brush
And, I actually braved a Sephora store on the first day of the sale to pick up my free tote. I went just before lunch and was surprised to see that the store wasn’t too busy. And even more amazed, this year’s tote is so nice – it’s made of actual cloth fabric instead of the plastic canvas of previous years.
It’s a messenger style tote which is surprisingly roomy with a sturdy wide strap.
My total damage came to C$149 without the discount, and with the 15% off, it was C$126.65. Plus, I used Ebates which dropped their discount to a measly 2.5% (normally it’s 8%), so I got another $3.17 back, bringing my total to $123.48. 🙂
Have you tried any of the items I got? Did you pick up anything from the Sephora sale?
Ooooo you got some good stuff! I really wish the LaVanila deodorant worked for me, but I get too sweaty (TMI) and I have to reapply so much during the course of the day.
😦 I was going to pickup the Bite Beauty balm so I’m interested to hear your thoughts
LikeLiked by 1 person
Nah, sweat isn’t TMI! It happens to a lot of us. I’m a sweaty BEAST. My main challenge is to accept the fact that using deodorants do not mean that they will prevent sweat – they only help neutralize the odour that can occur (sweat + bacteria = ew) The trick is finding the right combo in a deodorant that will work to neutralize your particular brand of sweat! 😉
Quickie review of the BIte lip balm = it’s great! Very easy to use – provides more of a matte finish and it lasts really well on the lips. Plus, that packaging is SEXY. ❤

I love the idea of the Sephora lip sets, but they never seem to have enough items in them that I’d want! Nudes are just not reaaaaally my thing. Both sets are super pretty, though, I’m always tempted 🙂
I have been kicking myself since I ordered because I forgot to add the ABH empty palettes to my order!!! AAAAARGH. Well, I have my eye on a Nails Inc set so I might place another order if they come back in stock.
The Sephora e/s are all so pretty! Do you depot them and use the Sephora palette?
Looks like you’re well on your way to Rouge again with friends’ orders! I used to use Clinique’s rinse off cleanser in university, when my skin was oilier. That stuff cleans like a mofo. I still use up my samples when I get them in GWPs.
Btw, Beautyblenders were on clearance recently at that local Toronto store that’s closing down…FTBbeauty.

For you, they’d have to release a red lip set in order to entice you to purchase one of those sets! I do think they’ve had one in the past… don’t recall what they included.
Aw, I almost forgot to order the ABH palette but I had it on my “loves” list and I always go through that list to see what I want to order. I hope you pick them up! I feel like we found a loophole… 😛
Yes I depot them (well not depot but just pop them out of the casing – they’re already magnetized and ready for empty palettes). I’ve got some in the Sephora pre-formed palettes and some in free-form palettes (z-palette).
My friend swears by that cleanser – I do find it effective but quite stripping. Her skin is oilier so I guess it suits her skin type!
Oooh is FTBeauty closing down their site too? Too bad I missed out on the clearance at their store.

Oh how cute is that tote?! I noticed this year that the stores weren’t quite as insane as previous years…very weird. Maybe everyone is going through makeup exhaustion!
I’m SO interested in hearing reviews of the Farmacy exfoliator and the Bite lip balm! *wink wink* I’m really interested in trying out some Farmacy products.
The lip set you got looks AWESOME. Sooo many good products in there. I agree, I think you got the better set of the two. When UD 1993 came out, I thought the deep brown would look flattering on me – tried it on in stores and it looks terrible on me. I’m still not over it.
Great picks for the VIB sale!!

I do wonder if people are just burnt out. We’ve come to expect these sales and all the launches – they’re just not special any more?
I’m a bit hesitant on the UD 1993 too… we shall see. I think it’s not as brown / dark as some of them out there so I think I might be able to pull it off.
I wrote about the Farmacy exfoliator in my Favourites post so I’ll likely not dedicate a whole post to it. Here’s a photo from that post:

And the link here. Hint hint! 😉
And the Bite lip balm is great – it’s a bit firmer than your average lip balm and creates a matte finish on the lips. It lasts a long time on the lips and smells like agave. It’s got sexy packaging! There’s my review. 😛 I’m getting too lazy to write review post on individual products any more LOL… my new focus is do comparisons or more mega posts. They’re more interesting for me to write and more “bang for your buck” I feel…

D’oh! I totally read that post when you first put it up too. Thanks for linking back to it!
Hah, fair on wanting to focus more on doing comparisons and mega posts. I’d say they are more interesting to read, too. They are very time-intensive posts to prepare, though!

No, the Nude lip kit is a NEW one that Sephora just released. Both sets are available (Canada and US) and the confusing part is that they’re both called the same thing… why, Sephora, WHY?

Good to know that you love the Sephora masks. To me, they’re a bit pricey at $8 a pop when I normally pay around $2 for Korean sheet masks – but let’s see if they’re THAT good! 🙂

There is one store called Douglas. But there is not really much to choose from. So we have to order online everything, from French Sephora or so. But I’ve heard they will open Sephora stores in Germany by the end of this month. There is not much people talking about it, so I have no idea if it’s true or not.

I haven’t tried any of those items, but that’s an amazing haul!! You got so many samples too~! It’s great that your friends were able to jump on your purchase and get the discount too (and you got the points, I assume!). How long have some of these items been on your wishlist? (Also I can totally relate to impulse buys when you see things on sale… It happens to me all the time.)

Yes, half the fun was picking samples hehe. Throughout the whole VIB sale event, they kept changing the sample options so it was fun to see now things available. Yes, I got the points – I did advise them that they could use their own Sephora card if they want, but they’re all only BI’s so only 10% discount. They wanted the higher discount more than collecting the points!
I haven’t had these items on my list for that long since I cleared up a lot of my wish list items from the November VIB sale. I’ve had some of the less likely to purchase items for a lot longer since they’re more frivolous things like $200 makeup brushes. 😛

I’m sure lots of samples went out of stock during that time! I’m gradually collecting my own points… During that sale, I did grab two things (even though I only got 10% off haha). One is my first clay mask which I’ll hopefully try tonight. And the other is a blemish treatment. I recently had a weird acne breakout on my right cheek… and it’s not going away. It’s been there for over a month now.

Which clay mask and blemish treatment did you get?
I don’t get too many skincare products from Sephora – for some reason I don’t consider them for skincare, more for makeup. I tend to stick to drugstores, department stores or online (like Paula’s Choice) for skincare.
LikeLike
Oh really? Which brands do you use for skincare? I’m actually the opposite in a sense; most of my makeup isn’t from Sephora. But then again I also have drugstore skincare too (like Neutrogena). I got a Clinique clay mask to try and a blemish treatment from Tata Harper. My first Tata product!

It’s so difficult to talk yourself out of buying something when there’s such a GOOD deal! I’ve mostly avoided temptations by not paying as much attention to promotional emails and not going into the stores as often.
The Sephora shadows are overall good – I would put them on par with the Lancome Colour Design eye shadows. Not crazy pigmented but wears well. I’m especially a sucker for all of the colours and finishes available. 😛

I was really contemplating whether or not to take advantage on the VIB sale but there’s nothing that really caught my attention except for the Hermes “Garden Collection Coffret Set” and went to the store to check them out but I wasn’t impress on the scents. Not worth the $50 mark (even with the 15% off) except for the name and cute bottles. Now, looking at the Sephora Favorites, I have the Give Me Some Nude Lip set with Nars lippy in my basket and you’re making me want to purchase one.. 😫

Ooooooh! I love, love, love the nude lip kit and the 3 single eyeshadows. And all those samples… please try the Amazing Grace fragrance sample asap. I’m sure you’ll like it. And get the full size Amazing Grace instead of that random DKNY apple fragrance. I don’t mean to bash DKNY’s fragrances, but those apple fragrances are just so dull and uninspired… if you really want the DKNY, ask for a sample before you buy the full size bottle. I’m sure the fragrance will bore you before the sample is finished…

No sephora sale over here 😥😖😭 French Sephora isn’t as much fun.
I haven’t tried the stuff that you bought for yourself. I have tried your friends’ spree though. 😅 Clinique foam wash, bobbi brown brush (mine died at around 6yrs of abusive use and over washing 🤣), BM complexion rescue.

I don’t understand why Sephoras around the world don’t have the same events! Especially in this day and age of social media.
Funny story about that Bobbi Brown blush brush. I was consulted to recommend a blush brush but sadly, I do not own any of the blushes brushes available at Sephora. Based on online reviews and testing the brushes, I finally recommended the Bobbi Brown one. My friend balked at the price ($66) and asked if the brush will last more than a year. I laughed and said it should last a lifetime if taken care of! I advised her to wash it periodically with shampoo. Now the question is: what did you do to your brush that it died and what blush brush do you currently use?

It’s not the BB brush’s fault 😂🤣 Like I said, it was in an abusive relationship. Think head and shoulders weekly + UV light + alcohol spray daily for 10 years. 😅 I had big microbephobia when I was younger.
I currently use MAC or Shu Uemura.

I’m hoping Sephora in Malaysia might do some kind of their Sephora Favourites sets, I’m looking forward to exploring and hopefully they’ll have a mini aisle!
I can’t get over those ABH palettes being so cheap! I can’t seem to see them anywhere here which is odd, are the ABH pans standard size? Might be cheaper than the option I was thinking of doing for a travel Makeup Geek one!

Is the exchange rate favourable for the £ in Malaysia? I’d be so tempted to shop when travelling but in most places, the C$ is such crap.
Yes, the ABH pans are standard size – exactly the same as MAC’s pro palette! It will fit MUG shadows, no problem. I was surprised to see them for $1. It used to be that the price was lowered only if you purchased 4 refills. Not sure if it’s a glitch or what.

I was looking for the LaVanilla fragrances in-store during the sale and they didn’t have them – wonder if they’re not carrying the line at all anymore or it’s just in Canada….
I picked up the Sephora Collection Avocado sleeping mask at the sale and I’m in love. The sheet masks are next on my list to try.
I’ve been contemplating that lip kit for a while but in the end I passed on it as I decided I’d rather have a full sized product of something I knew I loved. I have so many mini lip products its ridiculous. Actually lip products in general if I’m being honest with myself. I kind of like that new set though!

Are the sleeping masks the ones in those little pods? I’ve been meaning to try those. I did buy a few sleeping masks to try out but haven’t cracked them open yet.
I didn’t think I had that many mini lip things until recently when I found them in my drawer – most of those aren’t colours I’d wear too often so I don’t mind that they’re small.
