Japan Makeup Shopping List

As you may know, I’m leaving soon for a 2 week vacation to Japan! You guys can’t even imagine the excitement of preparing a shopping list for freakin’ Japan! 😀

Before Korean cosmetics took the world by storm, Japanese makeup was the main Asian makeup game in town. I remember pouring over online resources to learn about the various Japanese brands and subsidiaries (Kanebo, Shiseido, Kose and Sana own the lion’s share of brands – Shiseido has so many sub-brands, it’s hard to keep them straight), and placing many orders online for Japanese cosmetics. Now, I finally get to see this stuff firsthand!

Warning, long post…

Teeez Nail Lacquer in Melted Copper

This is unusual for me, this polish is the newest in my collection and I decided to wear it almost right away. Usually polishes languish in my untrieds pile for months and months… but this is just so different and beautiful in its bottle that I had to get it on my nails pronto!

This post is actually a combo 3-in-1 review featuring 3 products:
Saje Sensitive Elixir Calming Skin Serum – $19.95 CAD for 30ml
Paula’s Choice Resist C15 Super Booster – $48 USD for 20ml
Josie Maran Pure Argan Milk – $70 CAD for 30ml (mine is a 5ml sample that I received as part of a 500pt perk from Sephora – my little sample is worth $11.67!)

But, it’s mainly about the Saje Serum since I listed it in my recent favourites post.

Body Shop Canada Flash Sale: 50% off Makeup

While getting my morning coffee this morning, I walked by the nearby Body Shop store and learned that there’s a flash sale for 50% off makeup.  This includes makeup, brushes, nail polishes and even makeup & polish removers!

*sigh* And what’s a makeup addict to to? I haven’t bought anything yet but I plan to stop in at lunch or after work. Here’s what I’m thinking.

Untrieds: Zoya Zara

I purchased this during the Zoya Free 4 You sale back in January, where you selected 4 polishes of your choice for free and just pay for shipping and handling.  A couple of weeks ago, I finally wore the first of the 4 – the shade Zara.

This was a somewhat significant event since I had mostly gotten rid of all my Zoya nail polishes and had not worn a Zoya for years.  I found that in general, Zoya polishes didn’t last as long on me, they would chip really badly and on some occasion, peel off in sheets.  With this great deal, I decided it was time to give Zoyas another try since they offer some fairly unique colours.

Chit Chat Tuesday: Public Displays of Grooming

Today’s Chat Chat topic is something that most people have an opinion about: is it socially acceptable to perform self grooming activities in public?

Source.

I’m sure everyone can share a cringe-inducing story of witnessing someone’s public display of inappropriate self-grooming. Everyone has their own comfort level of what’s appropriate, and here are my opinions!

CoverGirl TruNaked Eyeshadow Palette in Roses

It may not seem like it lately, but I’m not really an eye shadow palette kind of girl. And certainly, I’ve never gravitated toward drugstore eye shadow palettes. But what got me intrigued with the CoverGirl TruNaked palette were the general rave reviews online, and also seeing amazing live swatches from Allura Beauty.  There are 3 versions available and I ended up with the Roses palette:

This palette costs $14.99 regularly but I redeemed Optimum Points for mine.

Obsessed Canada Order

I’d never heard of Obsessed Canada until I was on the hunt to replace my Nail Balsam by Trind (I mentioned it in my favourites lately post). I saw that it was sold not only NailPolishCanada.com (NPC) but also on ObsessedCanada.com (OC) – then I realized, OC is owned by NPC! 💡

What made me decide to order through OC instead of NPC was that OC offered a brand that I’d been curious to try for a while now: Mario Badescu. I ended up with these items:

I placed my order on May 2nd and it arrived in 4 days, not a bad turnaround.

Helpless Whilst Drying’s Favourites Massive Giveaway Goodies!

After quite the delay with the post office delivery (I think Royal Mail and Canada Post were equally to blame for this snafu!), I finally received my epic prize from Rachael of Helpless Whilst Drying! I don’t use the word ‘epic’ lightly, I mean, just look at this:

It was like Christmas and my birthday all rolled into one as I unwrapped item after item! 😀

April 2016 Low-Buy Accountability

I had anticipated April would have been a crazy month of haulage due to the Sephora VIB sale but that didn’t turn out to be the case.  I had $252.74 in my April budget to start off with.

In the Sephora sale, I bought only 4 items, and I ended up returning one of them:

My original total was $83.30 but after returning the busted BITE Beauty Agave Lip Mask, I only ended up spending only $52.70 at the VIB sale.
