MAC Studio Sculpt Defining Powder

Since I finished up my MAC Mineralize Skinfinish Natural (MSFN) powder last month, I finally got to open up my MAC Studio Sculpt Defining Powder (SSDP), which has been sitting in my stash since it launched in Sept 2014. :/  I know… I have a tendency to buy stuff and then not open it for months.

The compact costs $37 for 10g and is made in Italy.  I mainly bought this because the tester at the MAC store felt so smooth.  I told the MA that I love the MSFN and she said this was comparable but even more smooth looking. I was intrigued!  I was matched to the Light Plus shade.

Shiseido Perfect Rouge

At Winners (Canadian TJMaxx) a couple of weeks ago, I saw a bunch of Shiseido Perfect Rouge lipsticks for sale at $12.99 a pop. They’re regularly $30 each.  It reminded me of the collection that I had at home… which I paid full price for (don’t you just hate that? Seeing stuff you bought at full price marked down at a later date?) I keep neglecting my collection so I thought I’d pull them out:

I own (left to right):
• Fleur OR341 – orange coral
• Dreamscape RD351 – muted pinkish coral
• Sublime RD142 (gwp size) – warm soft red
• Harmony RD750 – brick red
• Pink Mesa PK303 – brownish pink nude
• Venetian Rose RS711 – mauve rose

It seems that not a lot of people have tried these lipsticks, so I’ll do swatches of them here and provide some information about this fabulous lipstick.

Brands I want to try more of

I saw this topic on Styled by Lauren so I wanted to do my own list too.  Since so many of you are listing your Sephora VIB sale shopping lists, I’ll kind of join in with this post even though I won’t be partaking in the VIB sale this time around (*sob*).  Next year I’ll be able to indulge in getting these items from brands I want to try more of:

Charlotte Tilbury
Brands_Charlotte_Tilbury
The obvious choice.  Since this brand’s launch (and debut in Canada in June this year), it’s been a hot brand in the makeup world.  I got my grubby little hands on a lipstick via a gift card for my birthday, and I’m itching to try more from the line, namely the Colour Chameleon eye shadow pencil in Dark Pearl, an eye shadow quad, and possibly a blusher.

Surratt Beauty
Brands_Surratt
This brand launched at Sephora this year and I’ve been anxious to try something from it.  The first thing I have to get my paws on is their Relevée Lash Curler.  I’ve perused the displays and it appears that most of the products are made in Japan – the line does have a Japanese aesthetic to it.  I want to try their Artistique Blushes and Eyeshadows – which all fit into custom palettes, I’m a sucker for custom palettes!

TBT: OPI The World Is Not Enough

I decided to feature this OPI polish from the 2012 Skyfall collection since the newest Jame Bond film, Spectre, is due to open in North America tomorrow.  Even though this polish is from the Skyfall collection, the name is actually from the 1999 film which featured Pierce Brosnan, Sophie Marceau and Denise Richards:

Ugh, give me Daniel Craig any day!

OPI The World Is Not Enough is a gorgeous taupey pewter shimmery polish:

I picked it up from a dusty salon supply store that was shutting down last year, so I got it for only $5!

Trash Stash: October 2015

October’s trash stash features an exciting bunch of MAKEUP products – woohoo!  Every month I put my empties in a Sephora tote and this month, it was overflowing:

But I did manage to get a group shot:

Last month I seemed to have finished all my face skincare, but this month I seemed to have finished all my base makeup!

Guerlain Holiday 2105: Perles Des Neiges

I had seen quite a few promotional images of the Guerlain Holiday 2105 Perles Des Neiges Meteorites (those star-shaped pearls!), but nothing prepared me for how beautiful the snowball orb-like packaging is! This just MIGHT be the item that I’d break my No-Buy for….! I’m so smitten with this! ❤

Guerlainmeteorites2015main

This must be the most anticipate release for this holiday!  Well at least it was for me:)  You can never have enough of these little pots of Meterorites balls right!

I placed an order from Escentual as soon as I found out that it was available in the UK.

This year the packaging is everything!  The casing is  a snowball, and there are some star-shaped pieces within these meteorites pearls. It also comes with a powder puff with a golden ribbon.

I read that the delicate illumination is perfected with the beige pearls to even out the skin tone, champagne to brighten, and gold for a sun-kissed effect. This beauty is also supposed to blur lines and imperfections for a radiant result.  Some loves Guerlain Meteorites and addicts to the effects that they can give.  And some just can not tell the difference and do not understand the need to…

Brainiax Collab: Top 5 Autumn skincare

Today’s post is a collaboration with 2 lovely Canadian chicks! Cat of MyLipstickAddiction and Jodi of A Brash Attitude!  Cat has nicknamed us the “Brainiax”. 😛  We’re all listing our top 5 skincare now that we’re in the transitional weather of Fall / Autumn.  For me, it’s still mild enough that I don’t need to pile on thick emollient creams and oils, but I need to start adding more hydration to my skincare.

Happy Halloween!

Happy Halloween!

Today I’m reminded of those awesomely grotesque trading cards called Garbage Pail Kids (GPK):
GPK_Halloween1
The characters depicted were a modification of Cabbage Patch Kids dolls (which I also loved) in ghastly situations with a punny twist on their names.  I actually had a couple of packs of the GPK cards and a little toy.  I’m surprised I was allowed them, since in our household, we weren’t even allowed to say the word “fart” (we had to substitute “pass wind”… “Pass wind face” doesn’t have the same ring as “Fart face” imo).  Here’s a short trip down memory lane.

Orange nail polishes

This post is dedicated to fivezero.  I had lodged a complaint on her blog a few weeks ago because I felt she had been featuring too many orange nail polishes on her blog lately.  I mentioned that I only owned 2 orange nail polishes whereas she had 20 minimum.  Well, it turns out I actually own 3 orange nail polishes, and in the spirit of Halloween, I will showcase them here:

L to R:
• Essie Braziliant
• L’Oreal Nail Color Orange You Jealous
• Essence #46 Wake Up! (this was the one I didn’t realize I had)

I’m testing out something different for this post – a black background!  I’m not sure how I feel about it – I think it makes colours look wonky.  I mainly did it for the Halloween-y theme of orange and black. 😛

TBT: Sephora + Pantone 2012 Colour of the Year – Tangerine Tango

This Throw Back Thursday doesn’t go back too far, but it features the colour  orange which is appropriate for Halloween coming up.  Just 3 years ago, Sephora partnered with Pantone (the universal colour authority) to promote the colour of the year.  In 2012, the colour was Tangerine Tango:

It’s a deep reddish orange that translates well into a variety of cosmetics products including blush, eye shadows, lipsticks and nail polish. Not being able to pass up anything limited edition, I bought this quad:
