The Eye Shadow Tag

Immediately after I did The Lipstick Tag, I thought – hey, why isn’t there an Eye Shadow Tag?  I’m not really a lipstick girl, but I love me some eye shadows!  I’ve seen a Perfect Palette Tag on YouTube but I’m not really a palette gal either, so I decided to make some modifications to The Lipstick Tag and came up with The Eye Shadow Tag! 😀

The Rules

  2. Those bloggers will TAG 3 more bloggers of their choice with the same questions & rules.

Blush stash

Blushes make me SO happy! They’re like candy for my face! 😆

According to my inventory count, I currently have 155 blushes in my collection.  And yet I still wish I had more…! 😛  The highest brands on my wish list are Sleek and Colour Pop – I can only order them online so it’s a case of hard to get = want them even more.

I store the bulk of my blushes in the same clear drawers as my eye shadows, but in the wider format:

I did it: MAC 137 Long Blending Brush

I bought it.  Yup.  What happened?  Let me tell you the tale.

On a fateful Thursday, I received an email from Hudson’s Bay VIP Rewards to let me know that my points balance was 9,494 (for non-Canadians, Hudson’s Bay is like Macy’s).  This means I actually have enough to redeem for a $40 gift card (2,000 pts = $10).  Then I scroll down and I see an offer:

That’s like getting $10 back for spending $50 – that’s 20% off – pretty good.  But only on cosmetics and fragrances – hrm.  Never mind.

Famous last words. Keep reading to find out what happened.

My favourite pre-made eye shadow palettes

Maybe I’m being too loose with the term “palette” since most of my favourites are just quads – but I suppose they fall under the umbrella of palettes? To me, a palette is anything more than a duo – so trios, quads, and quints all qualify.  What I’m trying to say is that I do not like large scale pre-made palettes. I know that within a palette, I will always end up with at least one dud, and the more shades within a palette, the higher the odds are that I will end up with many duds (so no, I do not own any of the Urban Decay Naked palettes!)

My criteria for a good palette is one that I like most, if not all, of the shades, and one that I can create a nearly complete eye look from. They’re great for travelling and those days when I just want a one stop shop for my eye shadow look.  Here are my favourite pre-made eye shadow palettes.

I bought a $12 spray pump

I was just itching to buy something at the MAC store.  I was at a mini-makeover a few weeks ago with my coworker and while she was making her purchases, I spied this:
MACpump2
It’s a spray pump.  I asked the makeup artist how much it was. $12 CAD ($10 USD).  Against my better judgement, I said, “I’ll take it.”  I’m now the proud owner of a $12 spray pump from MAC.

Yes I really bought a $12 piece of plastic

Eye shadow stash

Here’s the motherlode.  I’ve mentioned many times that I have a lot of eye shadows – over 600 – it is the most abundant makeup category that I own.  I just love eye shadows and it’s the area of my face that I spend the most time applying makeup.  I’ll keep this introduction brief and just let the pictures do the talking.

It took me over 2 hours just to sort and photograph the whole eye shadow collection and probably another 4 to edit everything.  Usual disclaimer: this isn’t meant to show off.  It was actually quite a beneficial exercise for me to display all my eye shadows visually.   Warning: photo heavy post! MAC Extra Dimension Eyeshadow will be PERMANENT!

I just saw on Allura Beauty that MAC is making the Extra Dimension Eyeshadows permanent!  You may recall from my Top 10 MAC eye shadows post that I love this formula and one of the shades in my top 10 is an Extra Dimension formula.

Lemming: MAC 137 Long Blending Brush

EDIT from the future – I bought this brush!  Here is the review along with comparisons to other brushes I own.  🙂

This is an emergency lemming!  This unplanned post is to ask your opinion about this new MAC brush that launched with the “MAC is Beauty” collection.  Today I had the opportunity to view and touch this brush at the store (I can’t help it, I always stop by the MAC store if there’s a new release).

This is the brush in question:

MAC 137 Long Blending Brush

I really (really) want it.  It’s so soft and feathery and it’s something different that I don’t have in my collection.  I would use it for highlighting and pigmented blushers.  My issue is that it is limited edition (typical MAC!).  And the SA said to me, “Oh this is selling out fast, I only have a few left.”  She just knows what buttons to push!

Brush stash

Some of you expressed amazement at the amount of brushes I own.  Let me refresh your memory, I have:
•  202 eye brushes (of which 163 are eye shadow, 31 liner, 8 brow brushes)
•  126 face brushes (41 blush, 33 foundation, 25 powder, 18 bronzer, 9 concealer brushes)
I don’t think that’s too much, but my perspective may be a little skewed.

Here they are:
