Happy Labour Day! Hope you’re enjoying the long weekend! And welcome to another collab with the Canuck gang! We are once again, trying to chip away at some beauty products in our stash. This time we are choosing 12 items to try to pan / empty. The length of this project will be for 3 months, all the way until December! 🙂
Today we’ll be introducing you to the items we selected for this project.
I decided to just focus on makeup this time around because I do use up skin / body / hair care on a regular basis. Makeup is a difficult category for me to actually hit pan on. Here’s pretty much all the items I need for a full face of makeup:
1) Sephora Colorful Jumbo Liner 12 Hr Wear in 07 Brown
It’s always a race against time with creamy eye products before they dry out.
2) Anna Sui Eyebrow Color Compact in 03 Ash Brown
Isn’t the compact the cutest thing? And the product inside is great too. I’ve been too complacent with using eyebrow pencils lately but I’m going to force myself to get back into using brow powders.
3) Shiseido Luminizing Satin Face Color in WT905 High Beam White
This is my favourite highlighter and it is so neglected!
4) Kate Stick Concealer in Natural Beige
I named this one of my best 2014 discoveries. And then promptly forgot to use it! 😛
5) Guerlain Rouge G Lipstick in Garance
I’ve pulled this lipstick out a few times for comparison purposes but it has never had the limelight. I’m determined to get more wear out of this.
6) The Body Shop Fresh Nude Foundation in 020 Bali Vanilla
I bought this in March and haven’t worn it too much.
7) Lancome Khol in Love eye liner in 101 Chocolate Affair
This was limited edition and I love it – I can’t replace it but I figured that I might as well get full use of it!
8) NYX Powder Blush in Taupe PB11
I use this as a contour as I’m sure do 99% of the people who own this shade. And I contour once in a blue moon but I really should make time for this step.
9) Bourjois Java Rice Loose Powder
Been meaning to use this for my under eye setting powder – I was using the Nars one but now I’m ready for something more luminous.
10) MAC Powder Blush in Cubic
This is my oldest MAC blush. I can’t believe I haven’t hit pan on this, when previously, I completely used up the MAC blush in Angel.
11) MAC Eye Shadow Pro Palette customized quad (All That Glitters, Patina, Satin Taupe, Romp)
Is this a cheat, or maybe even a handicap? I’m counting the 4 shadows as 1 product. These eye shadow are some of the first ones I ever bought from MAC – and all of them appeared on my top 10 MAC eye shadows. I’m really, really hoping to actually hit pan on Satin Taupe and Patina.
12) Cargo HD Pressed Powder in 20
I love this powder so much that I have 2 back-ups in my stash. My shade is always sold out so when I saw them in stock I grabbed them. I’m doing something different with this one – while all the other items are used, this is a brand new compact that I started using on Sept 1st and will use solely for the duration of the Project Pan. I’m curious how much face powder I can go through in 3 months.
I’ve decided for each of the items, I will weigh them on an electronic food scale to show my progress!
It’s difficult and sometimes disheartening to not be able to see visible progress. Here’s my starting point for each of the items:
I would have preferred to use grams as the unit of measurement but the scale doesn’t show any decimal points for grams – I highly doubt I’d be able to use up a full gram of makeup each week! The lbs show 3 decimal places, I’m hoping this will show progress week by week. These weights do include the packaging since I have no way to subtract that the glass bottle or plastic compact weights from the actual products. But I will weigh them consistently each time (ie without cap, no brush inside etc).
I’m not sure that I’ll be able to only use these items for full 90 days, although together they do form a full face of makeup. But I’ll attempt to use them at least 4 times per week. My poor makeup stash, they’re going to feel so neglected! 😦
Each week we’ll provide an in-depth review at each of the items we chose, as well as an update on how things are going (weekly weigh-ins!) This collab will run weekly every Monday for the next 12 weeks, and my collab buddies are well-known to you by now:
♦ Ingrid of Curly.Spring.Blossom
♦ Jodi of A Brash Attitude
Go have a look at what they’ve chosen as their victims products. 😉 Have you ever tried to do a Project Pan yourself? Feel free to join along!
Such a cool project, good luck babe:) How is the Body Shop foundations, formula, longevity? xoxo

Thank you! 🙂 The Body Shop foundation is better suited for normal to dry skin types so it’s not good for long wearing or oil control!

Love it!! Amazing idea!! I will follow your leed and will line up some products i finally need to finish or start using.
Sounds quite challenging tho – good luck :))

It WILL be challenging! I hope I don’t grow to resent the products over time…
Yes, definitely join in! I’d love to hear about what you are trying to use up?

I love the idea of weighing the product. I’ve never seen that before! Best of luck with the project :)!

When I was trying to use up other products before, I’d measure the product with a ruler, but that just doesn’t work for products in pans! Thanks so much!

Yay! Another fun project.. Good luck ladies!

Remember when I was trying to use up the lip gloss and perfume, I’d measure them with a ruler? I need something to help me gauge the progress… 😛

I took photos and put tape on the liquids to mark them so I could easily see my progress.

Yay, excited for this, That’s a lot of makeup to try and hit pan on by the end of the month.
I may try and finish off my Patina shadow I hit pan on it and haven’t touched it for ages!
Looking forward to your thoughts on the Java powder, that’s on my list to try next!

Start of December, not end of the month. Who knows what I was thinking there!

I’m going to have to be creative to come up with a variety of looks with just these colours! I am thinking that the MAC blush could be layered with other blush shades for variety.
The Java powder is lovely, although I think alone it’s a bit too shiny – I’m thinking of mixing it with the Nars powder.

You weighted your products!!! You are too damn cool 💥
I can’t wait to read your reviews on each item as surprisingly they are all new to me with the exception of the M.A.C shadows !
I think that you will do some major damage in the next 3 months even if it’s only makeup !!!

Aww, I like seeing NUMBERS. I hope I see the numbers go down on the scale! 😛 I really really hope I see a sliver of PAN on those products!

I know that you are a number girl !😜📠
Such a fun project, thank you again for doing this one with us gain !😘

Good luck. You have a lot of products to use but it’ll be so satisfying once you’ve used them up. Love reading all your progress on Project Pan x

Thanks! Yes, it will be quite satisfying to actually use up something makeup-wise, instead of skincare!

😂😂😂 This is so serious, love the use of food scale. Measurable progress wahahah. With your hundreds of eye shadows and blushes, how on earth will you hit the pan? 😂😂 Perhaps complete fresh make up do over lunch will help the cause? 😜
LikeLiked by 1 person
Yes, I will wash off my makeup at lunch and reapply the same look again! LOL. Repeat before dinner time. 3x the use per day!!! 😆

😂😂😂 What a great idea!?!? With that amount of dedication, you’ll hit the pan for sure 😉

That Anna Sui compact is the cutest! It is so difficult to hit pan on makeup. I think it can take years!
LikeLiked by 1 person
I know… it does take years! And it doesn’t help when we own so much variety that I honestly have enough makeup for a lifetime if I never buy another item! 😛

Thanks! I’m excited to get more wear out of these! 🙂 The scale definitely holds me accountable!

Oh my gosh, I remember your last Project Focus 10 collab back in January(?) like it was just yesterday…and now it’s SEPTEMBER?! How did this happen?
Eeee, you have some fantastic choices in here, and I’m excited to see you try to hit pan on everything! Great idea weighing all of your products – might give you an extra boost of confidence that you’re really beginning to use things up even if you can’t see visible progress.
Your MAC palette is perfect – I have plans to buy Patina before the end of the year, haha. So are you trying to hit pan on ALL of the shades, or just one or two shades in it?
Hitting pan is super hard. Good luck on this!!

I know, this year is flown. I know we say that every year but I feel it more this year!
My full face today is courtesy of Project Pan! Together they make a really good work appropriate look. Actually, I think I’ve solved my workday makeup dilemma of choosing what to wear for the next 3 months! No brainer – I’ll wear this look 5 days a week and play with makeup on the weekends! 😛
I wish I could hit pan on all of them! But no, I am just aiming for Satin Taupe and Patina. Those are my oldest MAC eye shadows. My technique is to only dip my brush in the dead center of each pan, like drilling a hole. LMAO!
I remember you expressed interest in joining us but I know you’ve got a lot on your plate so I didn’t want to put undue pressure on you! But the invitation is still open if you want join… 😉

I can imagine these products would come together to give you a really nice work look. Hopefully playing with makeup is enough to tide you over so you don’t get bored of using the same products every day!
LOL, great plan on “drilling a hole” into the shadows in order to get to the bottom! Fingers crossed that helps you to hit pan!
Oooh, thanks for the invite! I don’t think I’ll be able to do it for these last three months of the year, but please let me know the next time if you gals ever do another one! Still interested in joining 😀

You’re going FOR IT my friend! Measuring and all! Anyway, what would one use the green shade in the Anna Sui kit for?
LikeLiked by 1 person
I’m surprised no one else has asked me about the green shade in the Anna Sui brow kit! It actually doesn’t apply green looking, more like a muted taupe. If you’re curious, here’s how they look applied:

The green and camel give the brows more natural definition than just a flat brown!

I’m so close to thinking I will join in with you three, as long as that’s okay? You might have to bring me up to speed on how everything works 🙂

You should TOTALLY join us!!! 😀
So what we do is pick 12 beauty items – makeup, skincare or haircare – and each week we select 1 of them to talk about in more detail (a review or history you’ve had with that product). And in that post, we update the progress on the other products. We post every Monday. Let me know if you want to officially join and I’ll email the others so that we can link each other back!

I’m sorry I haven’t replied until now! I would love to join you guys, email away haha! I want to make sure I’m doing things properly so I might be sneaky and only do 11 weeks (starting from the 19th) so I can check out all of your posts first and make sure I’m on the right track 😊

Awesome!!! I’ll send you an email! If you start Jan 19th then you could choose 10 products, so that leaves you 1 post to do a summary! 😉

I was going to start on the 19th! I’ve got 11 products lined up to fill the rest of the weeks and I can do a summary afterwards, I’m following the schedule/outline from Ingrid’s post 🙂

Great picks and I wonder if you could able to finish the foundation base in the time frame as I would be using the bottle for nearly 5 months and if you could able to make it, then hurray! I would be more happy for you
LikeLiked by 1 person
The foundation bottle wasn’t completely full when I started this – I used it maybe about 6 times so far – so maybe there’s hope I can make a dent! I’m wearing it today! 🙂 Thank you so much!

This is so inspiring!! I need to do this!! I gave away some of my neglected items to my younger sister, but now I think I’ll try this! I’ll have a look – I have a lot of base makeup that’s neglected because I’m so into cushion makeup these days XD

I’ve done quite a bit of makeup declutter on things I don’t like anymore or are expired, but these items are ones that I really enjoy and this is my attempt at giving them more love! There’s nothing worse than really loving something and they get neglected!
LikeLiked by 1 person
I really need to do one of these! So many of my products get neglected because I get into this routine of using the same things day in and day out- I need to focus on using some of my other products as well- they deserve love too!
LikeLiked by 1 person
Exactly! These are all products that I LOVE, and yet they’re neglected. I especially want to use up some of the liquid / cream stuff before they turn bad. Powders aren’t so bad.

I LOVE panning projects! That was such a great idea about weighing the products! And I specially look forward to following your progress since you chose all makeup!

Makeup is the toughest products to use up! In my monthly empties, I always have skincare and haircare but hardly any makeup. I’m determined to hit pan… let’s see how it goes! 😀

Sadly, I haven’t kept up with my #projectmakeadent which is essentially the same thing. I did make quite a dent in my Stila palette though. Good luck girl! I have the NYX blush in taupe as well and it’s still got the plastic seal on it! (purchased maybe two years ago?) Lol
LikeLiked by 1 person
That’s hilarious your NYX Taupe is unopened after 2 years! 😆 I still have clothes I’ve bought a couple years ago still with the tag on them. We have issues!!! 😛
Do you think you could do a Project Make a Dent or Pan again?

Wow! That’s a lot of products for 3 months. I have been panning a mini eyeshadow palette since January and I’m still not yet done. Panning powders products are so hard. Haha! Good luck with the project! 😄😄
