November 2017 No-Buy-Low-Buy Accountability

It’s been a while since I last did an update on my shopping accountability – the last one was way back in August, actually!  That was to cover June and July spending, so that means I haven’t talked about how August to October went. Those 3 months were my No-Buys months, in preparation for Holiday spending.  I’m pleased to report that those 3 months I was too busy to think about makeup.  At first I was missing the shopping but I got used to it – I even went to a L’Oreal warehouse and walked away with just bar soap:

I got 4 bars of the Kiehl’s Gently Exfoliating Body Scrub Soap in Coriander. It’s the Limited edition by Kate Moross, which is from this year, it seems? One is already in use, as you can see. I paid $8 each for these.

So a pat on the back for me! 😀  But, we’re here to talk about November!  I essentially did all of my shopping concentrated between the Sephora sale and Black Friday.  In addition, I picked up random bits. A LOT of random bits:

There were just so many deals to be had… how could I resist? 😇

Favourites Lately: Early 2017

This is my first quarterly favourites post for 2017. I’ve been taking down notes on various items that I’ve enjoyed between January and March:

I try to have a balance of items but it looks like this is more heavy on the makeup front. 😛

Megapost: Custom Palette Systems

I’ve had this post brewing for months and finally dusted it off in light of the recent controversy with Z Palette. If you don’t know about it, read about it here, here, and here. Um yeah… total gong show. 😮  Z Palette is probably the most well-known of any major custom palette systems, so their social media misstep has certainly opened the door for other players to secure a larger share of the market. People are now looking for Z Palette alternatives – let’s have a look at what the options are:

I’ll be showing what I own and also list some that I know about but do not own.  All prices are shown in Canadian dollars unless otherwise noted.  Warning: long post and lots of photos! 😎

Project Pan 12 Collab: The END

What an epic journey! When I first agreed to do Project Pan, I thought it was going to be FUN. Oh how wrong I was. This is the song that went through my head (sang to the tune of “The Song That Never Ends“):

This is the Collab that never ends
It just goes on and on my friends
I agree to doing it, not knowing what it was
And I’m wearing the same makeup for 3 months because…
{repeat from top}

😆 I’m teasing. I did enjoy doing Project Pan, especially doing it alongside my collab buddies! 😀

And I’m really proud of myself for sticking to these products and diligently using them 5 out of 7 days, at minimum.

Stash Dash: Oct 30 – Nov 5

It’s November! It’s officially:
• American Election Time (finally)
• Movember (I should really parlay the Stash in Stash Matters into some Movember theme thing…)
• Christmas Music Time (too soon)

In case you’ve been busy preparing your immigration papers to come to Canada, here’s what you may have missed on the blog last week:

Project Pan: NYX Powder Blush in Taupe PB11

PP12: Lancôme Khol in Love eye liner in Chocolate Affair

If you listened to the most recent MyLipAddition podcast, you would have heard me ranting about doing Project Pan! 😛 I remain committed to this cause, but I have to admit, wearing the same makeup day in, day out, is really challenging when you have so many other options staring at you! 😉

Today’s review is an item that is actually discontinued:

The Lancôme Khol in Love eye liner in 101 Chocolate Affair was released as part of the Spring 2013 In Love collection, which featured lovely Emma Watson:

May & June 2016 Low-Buy Accountability

Since I skipped May’s accountability post, I’m lumping both months together.  Let’s recap, in April, I was able to carry over $122.48. My combined budget for May and June was $100. So in total, I had $222.48 to play with. Let’s see how I did.  First, let’s get the elephant in the room out of the way, I hauled BIG time in Japan:

But in the rule books of Low-Buys, out of country purchases do not count. I didn’t create the rules, I just follow them, mkay? 😉  But I did a lot of shopping at home too, especially prior to my trip…

April 2016 Low-Buy Accountability

I had anticipated April would have been a crazy month of haulage due to the Sephora VIB sale but that didn’t turn out to be the case.  I had $252.74 in my April budget to start off with.

In the Sephora sale, I bought only 4 items, and I ended up returning one of them:

My original total was $83.30 but after returning the busted BITE Beauty Agave Lip Mask, I only ended up spending only $52.70 at the VIB sale.
