Blogmas Day 7: Favourite Christmas Songs

Would you believe that I used to sing in the church choir?  Yup. As a tween I liked to sing but I am really not that good of a singer, so over the years I sing less and less. But I do secretly still love singing to Christmas songs. I even have a special playlist full of Christmas tunes that I look forward to playing come December (there’s a local radio station that plays 100% Christmas songs from Nov 25th till Christmas!)  There are so many renditions of popular Christmas songs, and I have some favourite versions to share today.

Blogmas Day 6: Christmas Cards

I love greeting cards. I love looking at them. I love collecting them.

And most of all, I love giving them!  Christmas time is the best time for a greeting card fiend like me (ecards just don’t hack it!).

Blogmas Day 5: Real or Fake?

Real or Fake… Christmas trees, that is! 😉

Some people are diehard real Christmas tree devotees. Others aren’t so fussed. There are pros and cons to both. I’m rather simple myself…

Fall into Autumn Tag

I was tagged by Joy of StyledWithJoy to do this one and since Fall is quickly slipping away from us, I figured I’d hurry up and answer this, pronto!  Thanks Joy for tagging me on this one, I can always count on you! 🙂

Rules:
1. Include the blog links of the tag creators (Lilian and Denise).
2. Thank the last person who tagged you and link their blogs in your post.
3. Be thoughtful and creative when you answer these questions.
4. After answering the questions, pass the tag onto at least five more bloggers to spread the autumn joy!

The Questions:

1. What is your go-to fall color?
Grey. I just LOVE all shades of grey. I will wear head to toe grey – charcoal pants with a dove coloured top!  I don’t have grey shoes – what’s up with that.

One month till Christmas!

Tick tock, it’s officially only one month till Christmas. 30 more days to finish (or start?) shopping.  I’m pleased to say that I’ve actually started my Christmas shopping!  I went to William-Sonoma when they had a 20% off Friends & Family event and bought a few things, one of which was this:
Williams-Sonoma Salty Nut Mix
The rest I can’t say because some people read this blog. 😉

I also mailed out my first Christmas card earlier this week – I don’t have many to mail out, thank goodness.  I have an idea about what I’m getting for pretty much everyone on my list – so it’ll just be a matter of buying the items.

And a bit off topic, but look what I just saw:

The long awaited Spend Your Points Event at Shoppers Drug Mart! Granted, it’s not the Super Spend Your Points Event but it’s better than nothing.  On Saturday only, 95,000 Optimum Points will be worth $200 instead of $170, and 50,000 points is worth $100 instead of $85. I’ll be redeeming for $200 worth of beauty products on Saturday. 😛

What about you, have you started to shop?  I guess with Black Friday coming up, it’ll be the official start of Christmas shopping frenzy. 😀

Happy Halloween!

Happy Halloween!

Today I’m reminded of those awesomely grotesque trading cards called Garbage Pail Kids (GPK):
GPK_Halloween1
The characters depicted were a modification of Cabbage Patch Kids dolls (which I also loved) in ghastly situations with a punny twist on their names.  I actually had a couple of packs of the GPK cards and a little toy.  I’m surprised I was allowed them, since in our household, we weren’t even allowed to say the word “fart” (we had to substitute “pass wind”… “Pass wind face” doesn’t have the same ring as “Fart face” imo).  Here’s a short trip down memory lane.

100 Questions No One Asks Tag

I’ve seen this Tag done a few times (Megan has OCD, fivezero, and chubbychicsdiary, to name a few) and I guess I’m a glutton for punishment because I decided to answer 100 random and frankly, kind of intrusive questions!  The title says no one ever asks these questions, but it seems to me that is no longer true! 😉

I know that not everyone will read this whole post so I’m going to ask this one small favour – can you still “like” this post? I need the encouragement. 😆 (and this is the only time I’m going to encourage people to like and not read a post!)

1. Do you sleep with your closet doors open or closed?
Closed.  Have you seen Monsters Inc.?

2. Do you take the shampoos and conditioner bottles from hotel?
Uh yeah. That’s what they’re there for – taking.
L'Occitane hotel toiletries

3. Do you sleep with you sheets tucked in or out?
Tucked in! I like to be snug as a bug.

4. Have you ever stolen a street sign before?
Nope! I guess I’ll have to put that on my bucket list now.

5. Do you like to use post-it notes?
Yes, they’re super handy.

Hang tight, just another 95 questions to go

Happy Canadian Thanksgiving!

Yes, it’s already Thanksgiving in Canada.  We have it early compared to the US (second Sunday in October vs fourth Sunday in November).  People always ask me why, and I was told that it had to do with our harvest being earlier.  But now to my adult mind, I feel it’s not really true since our harvest is pretty much the same as Americans.  Turns out Canadians have been celebrating Thanksgiving longer than Americans – it goes back to 1578 in Newfoundland.  There are differences and similarities on how Canadians and Americans celebrate Thanksgivings:

Blogger Recognition Award and 250 Days of No-Buy

Today marks my 250 Days of No-Buy! 😀
nobuyachievement250days
Fun fact: As a Mandarin slang term, the number “250” (二百五 èrbǎiwǔ) is an insult meaning “stupid person” or “simpleton”. 😕

I was nominated sextuply (yes that’s the word) recently for the Blogger Recognition Award – first by Katie of Plus+Beauty, secondly by Chris of fivezero, thirdly by Janella of Skin Diary, fourthly by Joy of StyledWithJoy, fifthly by Chic and Polished, and finally by Polished and Inspired! 😀

How to Sanitize Makeup

Say you’ve just decluttered a whole bunch of your makeup, and you’re planning on giving them away.  Or conversely, you participated in a swap, and you received gently used makeup – how do you sanitize makeup?
sanitize makeup
I’ve participated in MUA swaps way back in the day, and have given away lots  of my makeup to friends. I generally keep my makeup in very clean condition, but it is still prudent to sanitize everything before you give them away. Here are some items you will need:
