October 2016 Low-Buy Accountability

This is the first month that I’m back in the black since my overspending back in June. I had $108.32 to spend. And boy, did I spend every single penny!

It’s not much to look at but one of those items accounted for 80% of the total. And oh yea, I overspent. Again. Just a tiny bit. ๐Ÿ˜›

September 2016 Low-Buy Accountability

I decided not to do a Trash Stash (empties) post for September since I’m so backlogged with posts but I definitely want to squeeze in my accountability for the month. Here are some of the items that got added to my stash:

To refresh, for the month of September, I had -$91.68 balance left in my budget. Yup, you read that correctly, I was in the hole. No makeup spending for me. But luckily, I went on vacation in September so the “Vacation Clause” kicked in, as is universally known. ๐Ÿ˜‰

August 2016 Low-Buy Accountability

The first “real” month of my self-imposed No-Buy, due to my overspending back in May / June. In August, I did pick up a few bits from the drugstore, and Winners, where else?

I’ve been surprisingly not too tempted by new launches even with all the Fall sneak peeks and clearance sales (no thanks to the ultimate Temptress, Ms. Ingrid! ๐Ÿ˜‰ )

July 2016 Low-Buy Accountability

July was supposed to be the start of my 3 month “No-Buy” since I had overspent in May / June. But wouldn’t you know it, my birthday happened to be in July and I rained birthday gifts down upon myself! ๐Ÿ˜€

It happened. And it was magnificent. ๐Ÿ˜€ ย I did also place an order from the Body Shop for some skincare because for once, I’m actually in need of some items!

May & June 2016 Low-Buy Accountability

Since I skipped May’s accountability post, I’m lumping both months together. ย Let’s recap, in April, I was able to carry overย $122.48. My combined budget for May and June was $100. So in total, I had $222.48 to play with. Let’s see how I did. ย First, let’s get the elephant in the room out of the way, I hauled BIG time in Japan:

But in the rule books of Low-Buys, out of country purchasesย do not count. I didn’t create the rules, I just follow them, mkay? ๐Ÿ˜‰ ย But I did a lot of shopping at home too, especially prior to my trip…

April 2016 Low-Buy Accountability

I had anticipated April would have been a crazy month of haulage due to the Sephora VIB sale but that didn’t turn out to be the case. ย I had $252.74 in my April budget to start off with.

In the Sephora sale, I boughtย only 4 items, and I ended up returning one of them:

My original total was $83.30 but after returning the busted BITE Beauty Agave Lip Mask, I only ended up spending only $52.70 atย the VIB sale.

March 2016 Low-Buy Accountability

I felt like I did less shopping and browsing in March just simply due to being busier… but now listing everything out, I did in fact, do a lot of shopping! ๐Ÿ˜ณ

I’ll be listing all of the beauty related items I bought in March, but only actual makeup items will be counted toward my budget. ย First makeup item I bought in March was the Body Shop Fresh Nude Foundation $25:

I’ve worn this a few times now and it’s quite nice. I’ll do a review after I’ve given it a more thorough test.

February 2016 Low-Buy Accountability

This is the first check-in for my 2016 Low-Buy. ย For February, I allocated $50 to spend on makeup. ย I managed to stay within my budget! ๐Ÿ˜€

My first makeup purchase of February was in my LUSH haulย at the beginning of the month where I bought theย Sophisticated Cream Eyeshadow for $19.95

I had $30.05 left after that.

Rewards to myself for sticking to my yearlong No-Buy

I had mentioned before that I would treat myself after my No-Buy was over. And I wanted to make sure the rewards weren’t makeup. ย So here’s what I’ve bought as rewards for successfully completing my No-Buy:

1) Longchamp Large Planetes Tote

I resisted the Longchamp tote for years. Everyone and their grandmas have one! I toyed with buying a limited edition design a few years back but just couldn’t justify the purchase. Then my friend’s niece visited Paris recently and my friend asked if I was interested in this bag (she owns it and I gushed over it) since it’s cheaper there. I like that it’s not a common style since it’s all black. I LOVE this bag – it’s so sturdy and holds everything I need for work. โค

Happy New Year! And a new focus for 2016

Happy New Year, everyone!
new-year-smiley
I wish you the best in health and happiness for 2016! ๐Ÿ™‚

I mentioned yesterday that January is probably the worst time to start a No-Buy since there are so many temptations with clearance sales and the winter months are ripe for hibernating and shopping. ย And that’s why, for 2016, I’ve decided to do something slightly different – a LOW Buy instead of a No Buy. ๐Ÿ˜€
