Massive Purge

You may recall that the primary objective of this blog originally was to reduce my beauty stash. ^^’ I had a three-pronged plan:
A) Stop buying more (No-Buy / Low-Buy)
B) Use up what I have (empties aka Trash Stash)
C) Get rid of items that I no longer use (Purges / declutters)

This post is focused on plan of attack C!  I’ve been meaning to post this since early 2017 for “Spring cleaning”, but never got my act together to gather all of the items.  No time like now, right?  😉 This post will mainly consist of photos and product names listed out. It would take too long to provide a description of every single item with an explanation why it is being decluttered. Just look:

I had to stand on a step ladder to take this photo! 😆

Hold onto your hats!

Foundation Application Methods (+ Tools)

It’s been nice reading everyone’s festive holiday posts but this year I just don’t seem to have anything Christmas-y to contribute. I feel like I’ve covered all the Christmas topics in years past – if you’re wanting some festive posts from me, have a read through my Blogmas posts from 2016 and 2015. 🙂 🎄🎁

When I get the question, “How do you apply your foundation?”  I answer, “It depends.”   I’m not trying to be difficult, because it really depends! 😛  It depends on the foundation that I’m using. It depends on what kind of finish I might be looking for, or the level of coverage I want that particular day.  Here’s an overview of methods and tools that I employ to apply foundation.

I’ll also name some foundations that work well with each method.

April 2017 No-Buy-Low-Buy Accountability

This is my first Low-Buy month this year since starting the No-Low-Buy “program” for 2017. I managed to pick up quite a few things – I had some luck on my side with some great deals, plus an Optimum Points redemption event:

I had $200 in my budget, let’s see how I did…

Trash Stash: April 2017

A couple of housecleaning items to kick off today’s post.  First: May the Fourth be with you! 😀 And second: I seem to be in spam hell once again. I’ve left a bunch of comments yesterday on various blogs and they all disappeared.  It’s so frustrating when that happens – can you please check your spam box? Click here to see where your spam is located. Thanks!

Onward to my April Trash Stash! This month turned out to be ok for empties – I thought I’d have only a few to show but I am on an ambitious plan to clear out my cabinets of items that just aren’t working for me.

It was fairly well balanced in terms of skincare, body, hair and makeup stuff, actually.

Megapost: Custom Palette Systems

I’ve had this post brewing for months and finally dusted it off in light of the recent controversy with Z Palette. If you don’t know about it, read about it here, here, and here. Um yeah… total gong show. 😮  Z Palette is probably the most well-known of any major custom palette systems, so their social media misstep has certainly opened the door for other players to secure a larger share of the market. People are now looking for Z Palette alternatives – let’s have a look at what the options are:

I’ll be showing what I own and also list some that I know about but do not own.  All prices are shown in Canadian dollars unless otherwise noted.  Warning: long post and lots of photos! 😎

May & June 2016 Low-Buy Accountability

Since I skipped May’s accountability post, I’m lumping both months together.  Let’s recap, in April, I was able to carry over $122.48. My combined budget for May and June was $100. So in total, I had $222.48 to play with. Let’s see how I did.  First, let’s get the elephant in the room out of the way, I hauled BIG time in Japan:

But in the rule books of Low-Buys, out of country purchases do not count. I didn’t create the rules, I just follow them, mkay? 😉  But I did a lot of shopping at home too, especially prior to my trip…

Obsessed Canada Order

I’d never heard of Obsessed Canada until I was on the hunt to replace my Nail Balsam by Trind (I mentioned it in my favourites lately post). I saw that it was sold not only NailPolishCanada.com (NPC) but also on ObsessedCanada.com (OC) – then I realized, OC is owned by NPC! 💡

What made me decide to order through OC instead of NPC was that OC offered a brand that I’d been curious to try for a while now: Mario Badescu. I ended up with these items:

I placed my order on May 2nd and it arrived in 4 days, not a bad turnaround.

Lemmings #1

This is the first time I’m posting a wish list type of entry, but I’ve chosen to title it “Lemmings” instead. The reason for this is because most, if not all, of my wish list items have been brought to my attention due to other people’s posts about them. The meaning of “Lemmings” is from a 90’s video game whereby the little creatures would all fall off a cliff if not guided properly – they simply follow the leader.  Essentially, a lemming is when other people buy something, and you have to go buy it too…

Similar to when your mother used to say, “If everyone jumps off the London bridge, would you jump off too?” In the makeup world, the answer is YES.
