My blog turns THREE today! 😀
Thank you to all of you for interacting with me online – I’ve enjoyed getting to know you better and often having a laugh or two in the comments section. ❤
This past year saw some posts that I’m quite proud of, and the feedback from you have been phenomenal. Some highlights of my most popular posts from 2017:
Megapost: Custom Palette Systems
Hourglass Ambient Lighting Powder Dupes?
BHA Exfoliants: CosRX vs Paula’s Choice
Affordable Drugstore Nude Palettes
MUJI Cut Cotton White – Shiseido Facial Cotton DUPE
Anastasia Beverly Hills Eye Shadow Singles
Beauty Product Reviewing Guide: Method and Terminology
As I look back at my goals from last year, I did achieve the majority of them including:
• Organize header / menu: I finally did it! I kick myself for not doing it sooner, it’s really not difficult. 😳
• Do a bunch of Megaposts: I managed to do only ONE (see the custom palettes post above).
• Attend a Beauty Event: I did end up attending a few beauty events and meeting other local beauty bloggers! 😍
• Continue to expand topics: I’d say I stayed the course on this one – I post what I want including travel and fashion, and you’ve seen my off topic banter related to the Beauty Podcast with Cat. 😉
The only one I didn’t do was Work the Pinterest, I still don’t get Pinterest despite my best efforts. 😛
Announcement
I’ve made the decision to wind down my blog. I understand if this may come as a surprise to you. It was something I wrestled with for the latter half of 2017. I took a couple of blog breaks and came back each time to give it another shot but I never rekindled that drive to continue. I still plan to maintain an online presence, just not update this blog. There isn’t one single reason as to why I want to stop blogging. To quote one of my favourite shows, The Wire: “It just ain’t in me no more.” This decision feels right for me now, but who knows, it may not be forever. I’ve witness countless bloggers who call it quits but end up coming back because they miss it.
I’m making this announcement now so the blog will come to a natural conclusion. Rather than having an abrupt end, I still have a few blog entries that I will post in the coming weeks including a summary of my Trash Stash for 2017, a Hauluary haul or two, and one last giveaway! Stay tuned. 🙂
Again, thank you! 😘
Congratulations, that is amazing. 3 years is really long time in blogging world, so good job girl. xx

Sorry to hear that you don’t have it in you at the moment. I have been wrestling with this the past year or so as well, with changes in work schedule I am having a hell of a time getting it back together. I look forward to reading your last posts and hope you and Cat continue with the Beauty Podcast!

Thank you Sandie! You’re one of the “OG” when you were still on WordPress. I think everyone goes to ebbs and flows with any aspect of their lives. Blogging is a hobby and real life definitely takes priority – I hope you’ll find the right balance! The Beauty Podcast is on hiatus – I let Cat call the shots on that!

Aww happy third Blogiversary Stashy!
I’m sad you’re winding down you blog – I’m sure it will be a point of reference for me to come back to continually in future, so please don’t shut everything often. I often pop back to your empties to remind myself of things you recommended! You’ve built up such a lovely little community and I’m sure I’m not the only person who is sad to hear you’re winding down. Totally get the wrestle with knowing what to do, I had the same feelings at the beginning of last year and managed to get through it and find my groove, but if your heart isn’t in it, it ain’t it! Like I said to you before it shouldn’t feel like a chore!
I look forward to seeing your last posts and keep my fingers secretly crossed it’s not forever – and that you maybe check in a few times a year 😉

Your comment made me a bit emotional! I was so nervous to post this announcement since I had such an internal struggle (and external – you don't know how many times I said to my SO, "I'm going to continue", then the next day, "I'm going to stop it"…. back and forth for months)
I think I'm in a different phase in my life overall – things seem to come in segments of 3 years for me, for some reason (jobs, relationship etc). It made sense to make a change.
I really appreciate your feedback and suggestions on this and I will think deeply about it! I'm definitely still planning on reading and commenting on everyone's blogs – you can’t get rid of me so easily! 😉

Haha – I had the same with telling Ben, I was going to dye my hair blue (on a far less important struggle). I finally decided on I wasn’t going to do it and then he came back from work a day later to find me 3 days before Christmas dying my hair (and maybe the shower) blue 😂 – it’s okay to be indecisive and change your mind – maybe a proper break is all you need, maybe it’ll be for good.
I think blogging is an outlet, it can be therapeutic but it can also feel like it’s work – it will be here and waiting if you ever feel like you want to come back to it!

I hope that time away helps rekindle your love for blogging – even you if decide to start blogging about something else I will always enjoy reading them! You’re a great writer and reviewer 🙂 I’m glad you still have more posts to come and I’m glad that you’ll be active on Social Media. Who knows, you may start Pintresting more and turn it into your main platform! It could happen! LOL!

Wow girl. Congrats and…congrats. We all gotta do what is right for us. I’m one of those bloggers that stopped but missed it. It’s kind of weird how you’ve announced you’re stopping (for now) on the same day I’m announcing that I’m back. Eerie. Lol.
I understand your decision but have to admit I’m really sad and will miss you. When I talked about blogs I missed and am excited to follow again and ones that gave me inspiration as a mostly “faceless” Blogger – it was you I was thinking of. With that being said, while you’re journey takes another direction right now…know that you’ve made lasting impressions and connections in this community. Wishing you all of the best, sweetie! xo

Happy 3 year Blogiversary! Hitting three years while posting regularly is a huge achievement.
When I saw “an announcement” on IG, I had a feeling this was coming. It makes me so, so sad because you were one of the first bloggers I genuinely found myself connecting with when I first started blogging, and because I always look forward to reading your insightful, carefully written and researched blog posts. But at the end of the day, you have to do what’s best for you! We all grow in and out of hobbies for a number of reasons, and if you’re just not feeling it or enjoying it anymore, then there’s no point in continuing. I’m so sad and am really going to miss your blog posts, but I’m happy you’re doing what you need for your life!

When I was in the groove (probably in mid to late 2016) I thought I'd blog "forever" since I loved all the aspects of blogging – the planning, the posting, the interacting with everyone. But something shifted in 2017 that I can't fully explain. I wanted to push the feeling aside but I had to finally acknowledge that I just didn’t have that passion any more. But life is funny sometimes – maybe I will change my mind or I will channel my energy into another outlet. Who knows! I'm definitely still reading and commenting blogs – I've been doing that for longer than I can remember!

Happy anniversary! But aw 😦 I was going to say December/January must be popular months for creating blogs because I just passed my 5 year anniversary with WordPress and today, I read someone else’s anniversary post. When I started getting serious about blogging (as serious a hobby can get), you were one of the first bloggers who continuously came back to read my posts and likewise, I loved visiting your site! You also really got me into emptying my stash LOL. So I think, you did your job well, Stashy. 😉
I completely understand though. Blogging isn’t an eternal thing and real life should be a priority! If your heart isn’t in it anymore, then you should follow your heart (hahaha like Disney princess films) and find where your other passions lie. I will still see you on Instagram though, right??

Next, um sorry this “ending the blog thing” is not allowed…..;) but in all honesty, I totally get why you’re doing this. Blogging, while it can be fun, is a huge commitment, especially when you do it well the way you do. I’ve had moments where I felt the same way and it sounds like it wasn’t an easy decision for you to make. I missed it! I blogged less for 9 months or so, but then I just had so much more to share. I do find it difficult to keep up with other social media though. Putting a blog up every day takes up too much time to also maintain an active twitter/ instagram or keep track of other bloggers. I really have to make time for that. So I barely promote anything I do.

Wow! I am so sad to hear you’re leaving your blog 😦 I really enjoy your posts. I had taken a break from blogging in 2017, but missed it and came back with renewed energy. Maybe we’ll see you again? Fingers crossed 🙂

Stash! I’m sad to see you possibly leaving the blog but I understand. Although I haven’t been on here much since last year, yours is definitely one that I look forward to and enjoy reading. I wish you the best of luck and hoping we’ll still see you every now and then. 🙂

Thank you Stephanie! I have noticed that many of my cohorts who started blogs around the same time as me have also either reduced their posting frequency or stopped altogether. Many of them are still around online through IG or Twitter which is nice to see! In our ultra connected world… we’re all not too far away… 🙂

I think it kind of gets hard with life happening you know? At least that was my case when I started working at the studio- I felt overwhelmed. I do miss it when I’m not blogging though and I’ll get inspired to write. But yes, I’m still around social media, especially IG so you’ll always find me there. 🙂

Congratulations on three years! Sorry to hear you’re winding down your blog, but I totally get it. I struggled a lot with the motivation to blog last year but I think I’m in a better place now. Happy to hear you’ll still have an online presence because to be honest, the best part of blogging is the community! 💕

Thanks Robyn! I agree, the best part about blogging is definitely the community! I would miss it if I stopped reading altogether.
